Just won this on ebay and wondered whether anybody could tell me anything about it? is it deffo Jimmy? does not sound near to the released 45 to my ears.. says cut by Ron Murphy, and it credits him, I checked out the address which is now by the looks of it a car Radio / Audio shop, cant find anything on SOUND LAB DETROIT either, any body cast any light on this item? link below also so you can see and hear it. It's a good question; and a very used and abused term... in the Northern / Modern scene sense I've always thought a late sixties early 7ts recording that used the new production techniques around at the time... was a bit of a shame, looks like they needed to pad it out by using the effects. having seen this for the first time since 88 last night, its all came flooding back, I mean the actual night, we had a laugh with Vol-a vents and I pissed off Richard Domar who sulked in the corner of the record room, not that I know the guy, just bought records from him, but nobody spoke to him all night!! Laughs Rich Alston or baz, is the guy in the Blue shirt giving it loads, he's lost that hair these days.. I have my back to the camera pretty much, Burgandy top, and what look like a pair of slaks.. Paul Mc'Ginn or Paddy as he's known and Tony Renoylds would have been there on the night as we always went to the Vic together.. happy memories.. m

MEL BRITT - SHE'LL COME RUNNING BACK - FIP This is a real curiosity, it's the same boot as the first one, the 1976 press with stamped ZTSC number and white ring running round the label. However, all of those were on styrene - this is on vinyl! I asked on Soul Source and nobody could explain why there should be a vinyl copy, and neither had anyone else got one. So rather than Ebay it immediately, I'll put it up for offers of over £30. If I feel I've had a reasonable offer, I'll take it. I've never, ever seen one of these before. Condition is EX+. don't want to sound a like a........ But I have one of these in Vinyl. Got it from Across the tracks in Brighton in the 9ts Pete, same time u were in Hastings.. everything in that shop at the time was a fiver... wish they were all now...most of his stock came from the owners mate, think his name was keith Barnes?? anyhow he was / is a BIG Motown collector, not on the scene since the 7ts but he had so many 45's that literally fell out of that shop, Derek Jack, Paul Sutton, Simon etc... we all had great bargins in there.. still got that 45, and I'd never sell it.. Think Soul Class of 66, A Whole Lot of Soul and Soul Destroyers are my favorite Kent Lp's... that Destroyers Art work is Mental...Ian Clark at his cut and Paste Best!! All of Soul Class was essential, especially Crampton sisters, Carl Carlton, Sheppherds, and Oretha Barnes... remember borrowing a mates copy in 2nd year so we could play in Music Class, all the other kids bough Thompson Twins, Blondie and Madness... and one guy (Corrie Wright) who was into Madness said it sounded Puffy, that Kid never had any Taste...!! Laughs Got to know Steve Cesar some years later, He's the Soul Teacher on the sleeve of Soul Class btw.. or Ceasar from Leeds... Mal.C.

I sell footage and images to Tv, allot of my clients will agree a sale by email, even issue a Purchase Order, receive the product include in a rough edit, feature in an On-line edit... but may at any time up-to submitting the Program to their client still go back on their commitment, Drives me F*** Wild.. cause all your agreements can go south in a day right at the end of the Month..!!! I buy allot of records of people on here, as you all no doubt do.. but I do sometimes simply forget I've emailed somebody, or for one or another reason just not get round to getting a cheque out the door...it's happened to me as well quite recently where i simply never heard from a chap that committed to buy.. Think the suggested 24 hour rule unless you agree another time scale works, that way you keep talking to your buyers not waiting the cheque that never comes... m

This thread ends Sunday, confined to the archives, but before that happens it good to finish on a high, so having spoken to Angelo who did the Musette review on Dave Rimmer's site all this week, I can offer these tantalizing tit bits: ------------ MR-112 – June Jackson - You're Welcome /Bottoms Up 
 Someone a few months ago was selling the Imperial Records single on "You're Welcome," and it was a promotional single (black on the left hand side with color logo and light brown for the rest of the label), it was definitely Imperial/Liberty and the artist, production credits remained the same, with the exception of the Imperial single catalogue number. Needless to say, this blew me away when I saw it, as I wondered if there were any other singles Imperial and/or Liberty might have picked up for national release. Green Musette Label Lenni/Lennie Groves singles The green label; this was the original label version of the Lenni/Lennie Groves singles, light green with black print; in fact, this was the only time I have seen a green Musette release. A collector in my hometown of San Diego just found the "Sweet Sixteen" on the green label. All The Musette Best, ------------ What can you say? June Jackson - your welcome got a promo on Liberty / imperial, thats up there with the Ivories on Wand, and Green label Mustte releases, I must be a tad sad, but thats some of the most exciting collecting stuff I've heard in years... May have pretty much Done Musette, unless we can add the Un issued Musette / Jackson scan and the other Lenni Groves 45, which Now I cant find...I've never bought the Miki Champion, wont pay the money for it... maybe Terri de and Cross Tone should follow here with the Craver / Jackson connection...? making a west Coast Indy fest?

Both sides of the Imperial release, and the Cross tone one, that always gets allot of attention on White Demo. That said I saw that Rob Pheasant has this on a yellow issue, plain yellow with no Promo writing so I'm assuming issue... ?? M

He has the Cross tone release of course and a couple of releases on Bell. Tenderly with feeling and I'm not sleeping, did you notice that the Imperial side is the same, there is no trace of him on the flip to What's Underneath...what so ever.. M

I've never read this guys book, but would love to find out where he got his info, I did speak to Greg Tormo some years back at Cleethorpes and he said that he has spoken to H.June Jackson, but he did not tell me much more that that... anybody know what the initial H stands for? Perhaps he was Horace, or Hugo.. or Humphrey... Laughs Malcolm

So if I got this right, the original release of 'I wanna thank you' on Stanton which made one side of a later Terri De release, then what might be the orig of I wanna thank you by Goody Colbert on Revue... then the alt version of 'Come back to me' which also makes one side of the Musette singll by the Phantom, basically Sonny craver on Karisma, this is a different and better take in my opinion to the Musette side.. then the very very very rare June Jackson...

They are not mint but who cares, they exist and I'l be tracking down Mint copies from here on in... The Bobby Bryant release states produced by R.O Bryant, and these two tracks gained a release on the Chess label nationally. For me the addition of MR-109 /MR-110 really point to there very likely being releases for the missing MR series numbers, 101, 103, 104,105,106,107,108, who knows but these are really obscure…. Miki Champion is a very strange release with a release number 76-9151 that does not fit in any order, 3 are on the blue label, the rest on Orange But I did read somewhere that a green label release came out???
