  1. I collect USA then Australian, and some British, the Aussie I expect you rate even less that the Uk stuff... laughs but Honestly Chris, you dont find it the least bit appealing collecting records like this??
  2. I thought this was uninspiring when I first heard it, but I've come around, I'll even say I like George Lemons these days... Mal.C.
  3. I've had this off Gene in the last year, Great Fun, wacky tune, I think its great personally!! you get em on evilbay for 10-20 usd... Mal.C.
  4. OK, my addy is sent, the tracks already selected, I'm very excited about this one cause I went down the shed and grabbed a hundred or so 12 inchers, which i had not touched in years, I mean a very very long time, anyhow they were all in order, every one a winner just there ready to record.. very excited and Matto Grosso : Star Suit deffo goes in as well.. Mal.C.
  5. Blimey, I was going to pop some mondo grosso stuff in my CD... thats if you all allow me to get involved in this swap, Wrongcrowd??? Mal.C.

  8. I'm glad you enjoyed it, its a shame, I had two copies on Mah's, it also came out on Spartan, one of Mike's other labels, they are hard to get in good condition though on that label, always seem to be knackered!! should not be too hard on Mah's though, pay no more than 20-30 quid. As I mentioned its a Ted Masey tape from 87, and was a BIG influence on me at the VIC, I've been buying those tracks up ever since..but lets face it there is some super hard and now very very expensive 45's on there.. Mal.C
  9. There are four pages of reply / discussion on this thread, so I'd simply like to come in on the original question which i feel may have already been answered somewhat, but........... NO F***** WAY Mal.C.

  11. what number release is the first one?
  12. well yes, but the blue Bell sound 45's are simply amy mala bell dist stock copies, and pressed by them, not sure whether they are east or west coast, a question for Mr flynn there me thinks.. You would go for a Multi wouldn't you...? Boots on the Matt back label with cross tone in silver, to be honest its a really nice press, but does not have the flip 'Hip to you' of the Eskee release. m
  13. The Chi-Lites tend to be ignored by many for the same reason, but group soul records don't get any better (or sadder) than "Have You Seen Her", "A Letter To Myself" and, especially, "I Never Had It So Good (And Felt So Bad)". ---------- Wasn't most of their stuff written by Eugene Record / Barbara Acklin? I always like the flip to their 'Oh Girl' release - 'Being in Love', Liza my wife likes 'Oh Girl', I cant stand it... One group from the seventies I have really switched onto recently is Tower of Power and their Warner sides, lots a goodies to collect there.. and all cheap Cheap Cheap!! Mal.C.
  14. I swapped a mint copy of Colt 45's for Amanda Humphrey on USA, and the guy I did the deal with felt sorry so threw some other 30 quid cheapie.. Not the best deal I ever made.. Mal
  15. Was speaking to a mate I haven't spoken to in 15 yrs today about the 100 club when friends Rich Alston, Tony Reynolds, Paddy an myself first went to the nighter down there, 1987.. 23 yrs ago.. And paddy said: I remember in the queue at the 100 club Rich Alston was asked by someone "Got any gear mate?" Rich not knowing at the time what "gear" was replied "Yea i got a bag full" (speaking about his sports bag full of clothes .. sheer class I had to share that.. Laughs Mal.C.
