  6. spot on.. may not be considered as exotic as some, but there is something bout Pink Decca demos. Other than that Old Town Demos just have that I want factor... Cap City on Pat Johnson is really nice, and I think Johnny Barnes has a slight label design change as well, which is magnetic!!! USA records, what can you say, sound stage 7 black issues, Red Coach, Kapp Demos, maurci for the pink / white issues, and Musette.. MAL.C

  12. I don't live down south any longer Russ, but when I did Brighton and the surrounding area was great for little nights. I think what Alfie said is the way forward here, you need a diverse crowd, which means mixing the music up, Brighton in my opinion is the only place on the south coast with such a population. On the front towards Kemp town there used to be a club called the Catfish club, the guy who runs a night there that used to fill it month in month out, and he would play everything, lots of 7ts, but a bit of Reggie, soul, northern etc..was a great place to pull, being pretty much the only straight club in Kemp town. it was bit of a meat market but I really enjoyed the nights there, fabulous looking club as well, with big dance floor and great rooms and places people can hang out. I always thought there was something about that place, and it has a history of putting on nights with soul music, not that bigger jump to push that to a new level imho, Christ I'd even travel down from bucks!!! Maybe link something with Elaine Constantine's new film release, really go for it, big style!!! but you have market it right, and that means keeping the loyal northern crowd, and introducing new people to good quality American music, and that does mean funk, reggie, etc etc cause people like it, could introduce live music, hey you might even steal the Concords thunder...this has to be bigger than arguing the toss between oldies and newies surely. there are allot of Modern soul lovers down there also, I was always interested in the events soul brother records in Putney seemed to be doing, mainly a black crowd I think, but they were at events all over the south, and Brighton as we all know is very diverse. Just thinking aloud Russ, but if you look to create a beacon of light on the south coast under a bigger SOUL banner as it were, you can still keep certain music like Northern alive within that, it can be done!! good luck to you sir!! mal.C.
  13. The First Steps Of My Record Box Christ I thought you were attempting to teach your record box to walk, this could be a fascinating new aspect to collecting, you can file your best tracks away and the box could run off!!!
  14. Seems to be an awful lot of allot of tracks at the moment, Appreciations on Sport on both John Manship and Tim Brown's sites this week, Lola Sands seem to be ten a penny and and most of other tracks I was always told were rare, seem to be on sale every other week, but thats been going on for yonks hasn't it. I guess the financial squeeze has led allot of folk to sell tracks they have had a long time, but you do wonder about some titles, especially if they all seem to be in the same condition... I had an email exchange with a chap in the sales section yesterday, I think the gist of his email was allot of dealers inflate the price by holding back, which is nothing new, its just a shame nobody told em nobody's got any money these days, and they should bring their prices down!!! that said if the backers of Europe are not going to take a loss, you cant expect record hounds to either, must be some sense in that statement... You know what, allot of these rare records ain't so rare are they... Mal.C.
  15. only a numpty would mention it, take it easy pal...

  23. Agree Joey Delorenzo is dreadful, Always thought Ted Wilson was pretty bad tuneless recording, and that Inmates - this is the day does bugger all for me...no finesse what so ever..think it his voice... there are others but they are so bad i simply don't have the brain capacity to bother remembering them, however....... Hytones- Good News / Kent release is absolutely brilliant, that man must be deaf!!! stone deaf!!! mal.C
  24. been after this for a while, never bought a German, so what the hell, give it a go Benji, mail me with allthe info and that. ma.C>
  25. Clapping is a funny one isn't it, very enjoyable but you really do look and sound like a prick if you get it wrong...hard to make it look like its the person next to you as well... Pete Smith did some podcasts on tapes from Wigan with some great hand clapping, which some other soul had posted on You tube, and some nifty Double clapping to footsie and all that.......... https://www.youtube.c...u/0/1XIyl0U0eGI enjoy.
