  8. Be interested in your DJ copy of Verdell Smith, I've got loads of purple issues, and lots of swaps if your interested? mal
  9. I'm sure they are mentioned in the 'Heey baby days book' that Beach scene book. Obviously not in connection with their popularity on the Northern soul scene, but tells you who they were and all that... https://heybabydays.b...-me-big-on.html Mal.C
  10. Is that George (OO Soul) from Sydney at the end?
  11. no thats the one, great book, fab read.
  12. Love 'Suddenly', and 'Down in the Valley' he has some great stories in book I was reading some time ago, as always I have a crap memory for names, but it spoke about him being a Minister while in the recording studio's at Atlantic, supposedly there was a steady stream of parishioners seeking his blessing in between takes.. Also mentions the gig to get at theaters was not only to perform, but get the right to sell refreshments in between the shows, that's where they made their money. There is one occasion where he orders a colossal amount of Popcorn, and half the city is feasting on the stuff... I'll pull it out cause its one of the best bits or reading on him I've seen.. Mal.C
  13. ahhh come on, there are lots of these about, and its worth £40 tops... maybe £60 as there now seems to be the same madness surrounding it that Dealers, Nick Allen etc etc have received in the past year or so... Sorry folks thats the gods truth, it's a reasonably regular track to get, and anybody paying £100 is a fool..but then somebody started this thread in the fools paradise didn't they. Mal.C.
  14. How about the walking home on a sat afternoon? having hit every record shop in central Birmingham first thing, and the central indoor and flea markets, maybe a record fair in the center, clutching a pile of records the journey home on the train and bus were always fun. but were never as heightened as legging it down the final road to my parents house, I mean legging it!!! as for the post, I try to forget them these days cause the post is so bad. m
  15. Wasn't ia all styrene are orig, Vinyl are boots, or something like that? m
  16. Wow Mark, I haven't heard that in an age, what a great track that Four Tops is... Absolutely love it. M
  17. Chuck Jackson 4 track white label 45 Just bought this today for 4 quid today in a shop in Brighton, has Hand it over, Any Day now, These chains of love and Good things, on it, Obviously not an original 6ts release, I wondered whether it's a Charley R&B , or Kent maybe? Says SMP/INF in the run out groove, It's an old disc, looks like an 8ts press. I don't normally collect re issues but I'm strangely attracted to this one, Must be because its Chuck Jackson. Anybody have any ideas? Mal.c.
  18. I did wonder on that one, haven't heard the Ruffin version, but clays such a track, so back on thread then...
  19. this came out twice on the same label, the one your selling is the first issue of the song, so for allot of folk, its the disc to get.. i hope you sell it. M
  20. You know what i had a feeling about that, cause I'd seen a monarch white test press of it some time ago, tuther didn't did it? m
  21. One that gets missed allot is Major lance - I Never Thought (I'd Be Losing You) and Love Pains from his Now Arriving LP, got a nice British Motown demo of the LP which carried a nice pic of the Major as apposed to the strange red carpet on the yank release. Another that gets missed allot is the Aussie only Sue Barker release, basically a jazz funk LP, with a really nice version of Groovin, but 'Love to the People' is very nice, sounds like Curtis Mayfield song to me , I'd have to check when I get home. Marlena Shaw's Acting up has the very nice 'I'm back for More' LP only again.. Mal.C. here's that special carpet
  22. 1st issue, the one you want.. m
  23. wondered if Clay hunt - Since I lost you?
  24. there was a really good live LP somebody was selling on here a month or so ago, they put up a clip, sounded really good... Don't know whether others will share this view, but from my armchair at home, 'Looking for You' really is not a favorite, great song but so many others stand above it IMO, It Was Easier To Hurt Her, comes top for me... Mal
  25. Hope you don't mind me saying Ady, allot of folk would feel we didn't get the full package if we did not hear 'Trying to Love Two'. And deffo worth suggesting 'I Forgot to be your Lover' as an ultimate William Bell ballad.. I've Learned to play this on my guitar, but I cant sing for toffee..make my day to see William sing that live.. Mal.C.
