It's wired that this ever got an issue. The chap I bought mine off in San Francisco said that when he went to visit Carrie she told him she did not like the record, well not that particular cut on the 45, hense it never went past promo copies. My guess is her husband Bill Cleveland and co producer Norris Snowden are the reason for it. Ahhh... Just read Daves post, so the issue is the cut from the lp? That explains things... Malcolm

isn't that a great track, there are 3 records in our house that the kids and my wife go crazy for, Emperor, Raining, and Rainbow... Dee Dee made an appearance as back-up to here sister in Sydney in 2005, and I did not bother to to get a ticket, even though I lived within walking distance to the opera house, alas she died on my birthday, 20th October, and I never got to see her... lets face it there is not much she sang that was not good.. Look, I'd had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was: "That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah."

The All-Time Top 20 Soul Lp's On The Rare Soul Scene
Mal C replied to dthedrug's topic in Look At Your Box
I havent read all this thread, but someone might have mentioned those fabulous comps from the 8ts? I remember thinking of the ten top Northern lps I'd want to get in the early 9ts, and went out and got them, but kent and soul supply LP's were pretty much all I could afford in the early to late 8ts Soul Class of 66 For collectors only for collectors also A whole lot of soul is here Under the street lamp I think I can safely say these Lps pretty much changed my life music wise, it took a bit with the kent Tommy Hunt LP, but I persisted. Bobby Blands Piece of gold on UK action, and the Action LP, the one with Weller notes... Seminal slabs of 12 vinyl !! Mal.C -

lately I've seen allot of tracks on a certain thread on here, and the sales section obviously, and have gone straight to eBay to check, in all but one instance, the records were offered well over what you could pay for on just eBay, that's without searching around dealers sites.. that said I still buy allot from people on here... Its plain to me that most people on here charge nearer the top end for their records, not surprising when allot of us have paid the 'Going Rate', but hey I'd never buy a record from John Manships auction, sorry John your way too expensive..but I do like to check what my records are going for generally, and when I come to sell them all off I will offer on here at healthy inflated prices... and round we go.. New Discoveries 6Ts/7Ts Northern & Rare Soul
Mal C replied to Russ Vickers's topic in Look At Your Box
My golly that's a great track, took me an age to get an Eunice Collins, had no idea its actually been played out.. BIG record for Miss Goldie ex Sydney now residing in Melbourne, she used to hammer that on a radio show she did every Friday, that would have been 2004/5... Mal.C -
Not sure what you mean, but I'm asking has Ady put it out, or does Kent have plans to, obviously allot of tracks have a life a total exclusives, but then Kent have put them out, the Ravins - Your Love Is What I Want comes to mind... I'm just aware there must be loads of tracks I've not heard, maybe there is another 100 Club classics CD here..
-
yeah I've heard that clip, and the others on there, has that made a release? cause I'd like to hear the whole song in the comfort of my i-Pod...
-
Obviously Ady is on here and would be the person to answer this, but I'm sure others like me might be interested. Basically I don't go to the 100 club anymore, haven't really attended regularly since 2003, although I make an effort to go to Cleethorpes and the anniversary once a year. There seems to always be new records being played at the club, but outside of the Kent select and anniversary releases, and what I can glean from on here, I've no idea whats been new in the last five years.. but I'd love to cause I'm surly missing out on some great music. Can anybody give me a steer on some of the 100 club biggies, and with regard to the recent RCA material, is there any way I can get that on vinyl, or CD? Does Kent have plans to release any of that, or is it already in the pipe line for a future release, or have I already missed stuff being made available to Joe public... Thanks in advance... Mal.C.

Ralph Graham - Differently LP / Sussex (inc. Aint no Need) Vinyl M- Cover is sound just has a slight bit of water damage at the top, which has not broken through, if you know what I mean. Great LP with the original version of this song, miles better that Skye. £20 You pay post. Mal.C.

Reason i got it on uk stateside, just missed out on a green nz copy on the bay, that would have been nice, that said aussie and nz records are pretty badly recorded in the main, except for W&G discs out of Melbourne, festival stuff is allot lesser recordings than counterparts in other countries. Uk stuff is a tough as old bots and the sound quality is next to none, but then you all know that.. m

I licensed allot of News Int content into this, Headlines, pages from the stable of newspapers that kind of thing. Looks to be a really good doco, there was allot of praise for the director Kevin Macdonald.

Apologies, I know what you mean about her voice though, and I agree. I just especially like this version, maybe because it's so different than the others I'm aware of, basically for being the only female one perhaps? I have to say I was surprised about Paul and Marks thumbs down, very tongue in cheek of course...but hey one man's judy street is another mans Garland Green, or what ever the expression is... its all good. well maybe not all of it... Lets not get into silly buggars, we speak about all sorts of music on here, especially 6ts, and folk on here have discussed Sandy's music lots of times... So Its relevant. As for pants and earbuds, which makes me chuckle, chaps your prizes are in the post... Mel.B

Always wondered about the obscure label MJR Records, which the only release I have, is the utterly brilliant : Patience Valentine - Our Love (A special Blending). Anyhow was playing The Worlds Funkiest Band - When your alone yesterday and noticed some additional text on the flip side which was very interesting. Says, Produced by Richards, Jefferson, McCarthy, for MJR . We Know Jefferson is Joey Jefferson the producer and label owner (Breakthrough), I think he may have even sang, but don't quote me. Anyhow his 7ts release of the Inspirations, that pink release it says Dist by California Gold Ind also, so that ties those two. This is the only ever mention of MJR I have ever seen, anybody cast any light on this anybody ever see another release on MJR Records? Sadly this kind of thunderbolt gets me very excited these days...I may need to get a life.. Mal.C
