Mal.C

  9. I waltzed down to Honest Johns on Portebello road yesterday and got this Box set, and spent last night listening to the 45's in it... this is without doubt the Christmas gift for any soul folk this year, totally without doubt.. Seriously, the book is beautiful, totally enthralling to read, its beautiful presented and seriously researched, the singles them selves look the business, play quality is great, and you get everything as an MP3 on a free download again brilliant quality for your i-Pod.. Track wise, I took out the obvious things straight away and was left with a pile of labels all new to me, and as we all know its always exciting to play stuff for then first time, and each side just kept on coming.... Have to say I think this label is really impressive, reminds me of those brilliant Clarkie Kent LP covers from the 8ts... tons of imagination... Only negative thing about this boxset, I would say would be the record sleeves are a tad strange, they have a lip on the top which does make em look and feel messey...that said the box they come in is really neat, nice colour as well. Best two hundred nicker I've spent on music in a long while... and hats of to the Numero Boys for a job well done... Mal.C.
  10. I don't think I'd ever buy this record, having it on CD is enough, but what's the definitive release, the WD with or without addy, green, or orange issue and all that, funny actually, cause George Blackwell, or Salvadors is in the same stable really, and I'd have an orig of either one of those at a snap... just interested. Mal
  11. pipped you an email
  12. here's one of the better Aussie Astors, Spyders on MTA... and the brill Ebony Keys from the Pye stable..
  13. its a hard one mate, does not come up much, took me ten years to get mine, and I'd never sell it, if your feeling disposed to 2nd issues or dare I say bootlegs, it did come out in nice quality on a rare soul ep in the 8ts... cost ya twenty quid.. mal
  14. Got one for sale at the mo, orig is styrene, never been booted as far as I've heard,. Mal

  22. Lorraine Ellison - I Dig You Baby / also covered by Mercury stable mate Jerry butler, in fact he covered shed loads for filler on allot of his LP's for them. I'm not saying this is outright bad, but I do think it should have remained Lorraine's own as it were, enter some bright spark who says it was originally recorded by XXXXX... mal.C
  23. Hippo and Ady both audition for the role of Benny from Cross roads..
