  8. Its interesting you have put this up Barry, of late something has changed for me also, I had a bit of fun with that Funk v Beat ballad thread couple months ago, but underneath that, something had changed for me. The funk thing was coming as far back as 2003/4, more with collectors I guess, but I really do miss the time when Jo Ann Garrett, september Jones, George Smith, Ruby Winters etc were all the rage and super rare sixties ruled the waves, I miss the london scene from the mid 9ts onwards, 1999 was its pinnacle really, all those exciting times at the 100 club and capitol soul club, Nick Browns do in Leicester sq. jo walace at the river bar / tower bridge..... Kent vs Soul Supply and all that.. allot of that folk are about still, although allot have moved out of the smoke now, but something has changed since, and I cant put my finger on it... Must just be the passing of time eh... Mal
  9. I think you would expect that, wouldn't you? unless the boot came from the tapes; but this is such an obscure and rare record, its only existence for most, including myself, is that dodgy old scan above, and the disc I mentioned Trouble getting. Great track, you never hear out...
  10. Thanks for getting back, Love this track, the 'response' singer/lady reminds me of the mrs.... always got an answer for everything!!
  11. Big Maybelle - Gabbin Blues / Okeh have a feeling the first issue of this might have been on a 78, or did they do a 7inch release at the same time? Okeh or Columbia have certainly put it out several times on vinyl.. so bar the 78, has anybody got the first 7' release of Gabbin Blues? Cheers all Mal.C
  12. here's that well worn scan of Little john to nudge us back on course.... you were saying?
  13. is it James Trouble who has an acetate of this? I've no idea what sort or acetate, studio or Publisher or what ever, but it either came up on here or evil bay 4-5 years ago... may have been a 10', aren't they all...? on th subject of nice acetates and sorry nout to do with Little John, there is another Bell sound acetate of Emanuel laskey on the bay at the mo, shit, wish I'd not sold my Lucky to be loved acetate, I could have had a luvly pair there.. https://www.ebay.com/...984.m1426.l2649 mal

I'm a tad younger than allot on here at 43, so I'm gonna hang in there and when the likes of Butch and co have sold up, I'll be able to build a collection that is unrivalled.. Only thing is I'll probably be showing it off to my next door neighbour, Tom, scruffy, collects beer cans, and watches football in his underpants.. worth the wait ehh... mal.C
