Too true, they preferred to pick on younger kids on the comfort of the bull ring, bunch of.... The rigger was great though you would get kids from as far as Telford, Nuneaton, Black Country but never anybody from Coventry...

I had some friends from your neck of the woods, allot would go to the outrigger, especially when the Saturday sessions started, and there was always the mod cafe on summer row...

1982, Arden high school birmingham, class 1c, early morning break seeing all my class mates in fish tail Parkers, then the Kent lp's started the rounds, especially in music lessons where you were invited to bring your own music in, I borrowed 'soul class of 66' of my mate bazer... And I've never looked back,,,,, the tommy hunt LP took effort though, but I tried and tried and eventually I gained taste, if that makes sense... Hard work when your up against madness and DM clad skin heads..... I've never liked skin heads...even now, but I think it was different in Birmingham back then, they sided with rude boys and zulu's (blues fans) especialy up the bull ring...and young mods were easy prey... And you could get a kicking and loose your Parker in an afternoon, but the soul stayed!!!!! Mal.c

I think prices are coming down due to the amount offered for sale at the moment, that said the rare ones are holding their own.... Deffo think the bottom will fall out of it in the next 5-10 years though, disconcerting though that may be, there will be no revolution in the music industry like the cd to totally reignite the collecting scene as with the 9ts, but you never know the 'Mod' trend/style in the uk is as strong as ever and is ever present saw merc outlet on house of Frasier yesterday... So the northern scene stands a chance in the future... Although, We may all be past it when that happens...and our collections living in oxfam shops and market stalls.... It was like that on the late 8ts. I think postal charges won't chane things in the long run, the mother country has too much to offer to stop collectors buying, we wil just get smart, buy on account, keep the additional charges down and all that Mal.C
