Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Record Sales
Dave Flynn has a really good write up on Jesse's career... seems the first Lp was recorded and released in Australia, called "Movin' Along", then it was re-pressed in the U.S. the title was changed to, "Mr. Lonely". https://capitolsoulclub.homestead.com/jessedavisspecial.html -

Great thread, Liam I wish you well, it's great fun listening and collecting all this stuff for the first time.... If your feeling a tad brave you might want to buy some good seventies stuff as well, there are tons and tons of cheap, utterly brilliant records out there upto the fifteen quid mark. If you have hoovered up Carl Carlton's - Competition Aint Nothing, then deffo go for "you can't stop a man in love" on ABC, the dramatics - dont make me no promises on cadet is another one, sublime and so common, it's worth a tender....David Morris Jr - Midnight Lady is another £5/10 killer on the Buddha label. This months best cheapie for me, £15 was Booker T Jones - gotta get the best of you / A&M, actually from 1980, but a great slowie, you will need Johnny Taylor - your the best in the world / CBS, utterly fabulous and cheap as chips.... Garland green - I'm Not a violent guy / uni is simply as good as it gets, again easy to get, the Manhattan's - give him up / de luxe is another I bought as a skint student, still worth a fiver, and so good it will stay on the shelves as long as I'm about to enjoy it... Keep on grooving or 'move on up' as a certain Kent lp once said... Mal.c

I bought one of those recently, Had in Big Marker pen over the flip, ITALIAN.. which I thought was amusing, for a second I wondered whether some noob had put that on the back of all of em... Kinda defeats the object dont you think.. that said I read somewhere its a slightly different version... Has anybody mentioned James Fountain, Remember a mate checking what he thought was an original up against Soul Sam's one night, boy they were close... Mal
