I don't think I'm letting any secrets go here, but you don't have to join the 'NSDLPTD'. If you experimented with Northern soul dancing in the 8ts, that qualifies you for free membership to the 'DDONDTNS' that’s the 'Drunk dancing on the Dancefloor to Norther Soul', in fact anything over 4/5 pints of Adnams would qualify you as a Master/Examiner. But pls remember, prices at the Bar, can vary...

On the Modern side, I liked Ed Motta's LP, which featured tracks like, Slumberland, Safely Far, both great laid back 2023 releases... think the video on 'Safely Far' was done to cash in on the Barbie film, awful video.. Also, I loved the 'Harlem Gospel travellers' Lp in late 22, they have had few new tracks in 23, inc 'Help Me To Understand' which is a really nice Impressions Esq slowie, great group. One of my favorite bands 'DeRobert & Half Truths' have been quiet since their '100 yard Dash' Lp, but they have had 'Judgement' come out which is a new cut of this song, super fast one too, their other 23 releases are all 45's from their last Lp... if you get what I mean.

Opinions of "younger" NS collectors out there?
Mal C replied to Soul Salad's topic in All About the SOUL
See I disagree with that, in Music lessons in 1982, when you were asked to bring in your own music, I remember all the girls were into Duran Duran, all the boys were into Madness, and we happy few shared a copy of 'Soul Class of 66' between us, and although it took a bit to get into Tommy Hunt's Sceptre slowies, the Steinways was an immediate hit! that’s not going to change, good music will always appeal irrelative of age... in fact, like all of us on here, it was 'Unknown' it was exotic, and it was ours, and that was all we needed to find out more... -

I've no idea, but as it was in 1981/2, what I call the 'Kent Generation', when all you old buggars (respectfully) who were packing in Wigan, we were just getting going... I'm sure there are kids out there who are just buying the music, they may not get the introduction we did, Youth Clubs etc, but they are out there, you couldn’t have so much access to much soul music and there not be new followers, if you get what I mean. Benji, you have piqued my interest, I wonder who is the youngest member on here? I might check that out... we wont name and shame her/him of course... -

I really like Mark Williams (white NZ Singer) version of House for Sale. He also did a nice version of 'Why Cant we be Lovers' the Holland Dozier Holland song on his Lp 'Taking it all in Stride' well worth a listen.

Nice scan and a bit of info I have. Real Name Ernie Lucas, West Coast release, recording as himself on Okeh (twice), as Lord Jim on the same Blue Star label, and as Karl Evans on Skyway.
