got the Kent double CD when it came out, lots of slowies on there, had one or two LP's & House for sale, but the slower stuff was new to me.. I really like 'A Child of God' and 'All the Way Lover... whats great is her 45's are very cheap, but oh so good... 'Caught Up' ok so from the LP of the same name right? I need to check that out... its a shame I was at a record Fair in Paramatta / Sydney some years ago, and got offered all her LP's every one for 50 Aud.. I just took 'Hurts so Bad' for the Ace Spectrum cover... damm fool.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKR330Yht-Q

One for all of us? if you dont ROCK inside when the organ kicks.... Don't Look Now!!! Just to qualify Burts AC, I dont think Heart strings are just about intense slow meaningful tracks, it can full on madness as well..when you respond with the Heart, and not the Head, your authentic 'self' appears, the ego disappears, instantly... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXt-YP8vewQ

Great thread, love stuff like this... Lorraine Rudolph - After All I've Been Through For You. Margie Joseph - Never Can You Be, just brilliant.. above are my top two deepies, well pretty much.. Mary Love - Baby I'll Come, initially on the Kent LP of course in the 8ts, but when Mary sang the extended song at Kent records anniversary, Liza and me were in Heaven!! Larry Williams & ATS Express - Doing the Best You Can with What you Got, LUSH production!! and DEEP!! Randy Brown - I Was Blessed The Day I Found You, Utter Heaven this!!!! both versions Millie Jackson - If Loving You is Wrong, I Don't Want to Be Right... pretty new to me, but it stirs something strong.. Rhonda Davis - Long Walk on a Short Pier, forever Alex in Melbourne's track, she used to play it on a Radio show we co hosted in Sydney, absolute tugging here.. Carla Thomas - I've Fallen in Love with You - Big old TUG!!! and again...Lol Booker T Jones - The Best Of You, just brilliant track, lazy, perfect lounge back track... good place to be.. Darrow Fletcher - (Love Is My) Secret Weapon, the TUNE in our Car... made better after hearing Darrow sing it live... Eddie Floyd - Big Bird, ROCK & ROLL Baby, That Intro cant be beaten... cheers Malcolm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tsVr5B0P4A

Flip Sides That Very Few Have Ever Heard, For One Reason Or Another?
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
Kack! laughs...Same as the colour of the label (Issue), so that should have followed... The flip of June Jackson on Musette is a great track, 'Bottoms Up' its just the lyrics are kack...No really its a great track; no it is.... That United Sounds - It's All Over (Baby) that Butch plays, one came up for sale on ebay not that long ago didn't it, and luckily for us, the seller put MP3's of both sides with the ad ... so you get a very nice slowie 'And When It's Over'... His voice reminds me of Chuck Freeman of the Drivers on American International, that 'Blackbird in Despair'.. great 45, actually the flip of that, the beginning is brilliant, intense horns... but then it drops and goes dare I say Kack... Wondered whether The Bitter & the Sweet - P.O.W., is the flip of 'I wont Have any Babies for You' got POW on a CD from Buey some years ago, I have no idea what 45 its linked to.. Bits 'n Pieces - Did I scare You, is that a flip of Keep On Running Away? never owned it so no idea, surley that group have nice things lying in wait on the other side.. A flip I started listening to recently, cheap one as well, Bobby Jones & The Para-Mounts - Check Me out, flips with Beware a Stranger of course, Great track.. They are out there folks... Malcolm -
any takers? surly there are folk on here that like 7ts soul?

Think First Taste of Hurt was deffo played allot in the 9ts and I heard it at the 100 club on may occasion Mike. It was on lots of sales lists I used to get in the early 9ts, £30 quid back then, as was loads of others that go for £200 plus today.. I used to get allot from a chap called Mike Stanley, all of the 45's I got off him have rocketed, Huns Review for £40, Little Gigi again £40, Wade Flemmons on Ramsel for £40 the list goes on...I mentioned Flowers - For Real for £2 on John Doe's list...!! shame I sold em all... Whipped this of the net: This adorns the cover of the Penguin edition of John Berger's Ways of Seeing.) A title for Magritte seems to refer to the concept of a work, allowing there to be several canvases realizing the concept bearing the same name. And to be sure, "Key to Dreams" (La clef des songes) –is it just this deflection, this swerve away from standard assignments and displacement within the system that founds the semiotics of dreams? However that may be, these vocabulary sheets are also violations that provide a way of seeing how early schooling teaches us canonical recognition forms both of language and visual representation. Note that the English version is also a slight, overly literal mistranslation: the schoolbooks do not use the definite article in such contexts. But the side-, eye-level views of the objects, their lack of extraneous detail such as labels or decoration, and their presentation floating in a dark, featureless space without shadows (at least for the French versions) conform to the rules for 'image of a class of objects' that are part of our common visual culture. It is clear that for all his attention to surfaces, Magritte is not interested in photorealism: the intense particularity of actual concrete objects is not to his purpose. Dunno, you work it out.... above book costs £5 you pay post...

The Soul Stylists: six decades of Modernisim from Mods to casuals by Paolo Hewitt Forward by Paul Weller VG++ condition £4 Ive always had a passing interest in Hewett and Paul Wellers relationship, only in that I know they were very close but seem to had fallen out big style some years ago, which was reported pretty widely, in all honesty I bought this book to see if there was anything on that, there isn't.....that said, this is a thoroughly good read. Tons of extracts from a host of sources including Ady Croasdell, Norman Jay, Ian Hebditch, and the very funny Terry Farley. Do you know what Robb, I might have egg on my face, cant see that listed on the LP, but I know it exists, cause when I got the Atlantic 45, I distinctly remember it being different, and I'd wished I had the version I'd heard first, let me do some checking... Sleeve Notes on the Kent LP is by Clive Richardson, as follows: Now while the sequence of events appears fairly accurate in its Chronology there is a slight aberration dating from 1965. Michael Ruppli's Discography (Greenwood Press, 1984) lists a Chicago session in February 1965 yielding "Some things Take Time" while a 45 coupling I Don't want to Lose you / Hold On, Both written by Van McCoy appeared in 1965, listed as 'Purchased Master' and sounding like a New York Production. Flip of bobby sheen 'sweet sweet love' is a killer crossover 45, better than dr love by a country mile... Had John Bowie, don't remember there being anything much on the flip, but then tastes change over time don't they... I do love curry sauce with me chippies.... -
Folk might have noticed that the Kent Release of this from the tapes that appeared on the Kent Tommy hunt LP back in the 8'ts, is allot different than the Atlantic 45, think I prefer the Kent one over the Atlantic one. As for Marvin Smith's version, one of my favourite 45's that, I always thought the way they did that recording at Brunswick, was like Chicago's answer to Motown..its just fabulous...the orchestration is outstanding. Fabulous song, all the versions.... Malcolm

Its a fabulous 45, one of my favorites... Think Benji sold a Stateside demo in here some months ago, which was really nice. If I see copies I always buy them to sell on, last one took a while to sell which was a surprise. Maybe reflects the change in tastes of the last decade.. Great Music never goes out of fashion... Malcolm

Three tracks from a small collection of like minded 45's Ive collected lately.. really do like this sort of stuff... Masterplan - Clinton Park Master Plan Inc - Try It You'll Like It Bobby McClure - Was It Something I Said Malcolm

Indeed, how would Joel know he might want a home made sausage roll at the crown and anchor, if he didn't know he couldn't get it at the Pub when he got there..
