thats interesting, the Andre Williams connection would link to that Melvin Davis 45, which is either a boot, or reissue discussed some time back, John L Brown - I'm Losing You / Like it is Productions Inc..

Remember somebody on here sold a Bobby Bland Mini Lp/EP (Here's the man) some time ago, with the covers and all the strips... lovely thing, got to it late so missed bidding on it.. there are a few different series of them (Bobby Bland's), one series has 5 discs, No1 - No5, I have 4 of them but need the 1st desperately, dont suppose anybody has one? M

wow, this has always been a twenty quid track, really glad its been further recognised, for allot about my age its inclusion on a Kent Lp in the late eighties was enough to make me need it!! saw someone selling it for a ton last week, and Carl Carlton - Can you feel it.. Shocked at those prices to be honest... Malcolm

Just had a nice break on the Isle of Wight, mainly on the south of the Island, somewhere we had never bee before. I spent today at a very special Sub Tropical Garden at a place called Ventnor. Basically its a south facing town and the gardens we visited were located in the micro climate, akin to the Med. There is never any frost or snow in this area, and due to the gardens location beneath Hills and dipped before the coast the gardeners are able to grow plants found in the Mediterranean, plants and tress that will not grow any where else in the UK. Its well worth a visit, the wildlife is great as well, birds a plenty as you can imagine... couple of Black and white shots there also, moody cliffs just down the coast, and a very small pooch we met... http://www.botanic.co.uk/

Wow, that is sad news, "Love is a Serious Business" was the sound track to 1986 for me, I'm sure he knew how special that recording was to thousands upon thousands of fans... We salute you Alfie, may you rest in peace. Malcolm

Boot V's Original Tamala Lewis You Wont Say Nothing Marton
Mal C replied to whereismy record's topic in Look At Your Box
Just listening to my 'Bootleg' or not... notice two things about the recording, it comes in staggered at the start, you know when you can hear the track faintly for a second, then loud... Then at the end it just stops, no fade, sounds like the sound is just switched off. Overall its it's a great 45, the label and overall sound quality, especially compared to some boots, but those two things suggest to me it wasn't RCA that produced this disc, they didn't make 45 to a lesser quality did they....the finest quality recordings is what they were about... just a theory mal -
Those Guys - Tonight, what a track that is, follow it up with Don Carlos, and your on your way!!! Looks like a good night.... mal

Probably not an artist that gets discussed much on here, but just seen 'Up above The Rock (Cadet)' in sales sounding very much like it was lifted from billy Taylor Trio - wish I knew.... Both great piano led jazz tracks I guess... Like his stuff, anybody know any other good ones outside of 'Doing my thing' .... mal

WHAT???? all time brilliant 45, both sides, quality never goes out of vogue, you know that...

I posted pics in the gallery of Bewick Street, didn't get anything I wanted, Action Box set was sold out, so plumed for the Eccentric Soul LP on the Dynamic label, which I love... both the Soul Brother 45's were gone as well, that was at soul jazz records, I couldn't be bothered with the others as there were cues to go in round the bloc at one point.. it was a bun fight for sure.. Otherwise It was a good day, nice to go into town as well, have a coffee in a trendy bar, buy some cloths....noticed HMV on Oxford street was gone as well... nothing on that side now with the other record shops on Hanaway street gone as well

I have the Casablanca LP, still after the 7", seem to remember somebody talking about Clyde McPhatter LP ages ago, Ive never seen one, But the allot of Aussie LP's are quite surprising, allot have the Aussie vinyl with the USA sleeve just with a large sticker the size of the cover on the back, simply to state "Blah blah records, Australia'... Boot V's Original Tamala Lewis You Wont Say Nothing Marton
Mal C replied to whereismy record's topic in Look At Your Box
whats the story behind the orange boot? bar the colour its spot on pretty much... Mal -
Laughs... I wondered too Mark, this whole thread has left the earth, and now its residing in outer space!!!! I haven't read every post, I know I should, but do you know what, does it really matter? the whole idea is you pay some bloke (said megalomaniac D.j) to take care of all that so you can practice your Benny Hill impressions at the bar! When I was at college in the 8ts, a new class mate of mine said his older brother played in Edwin Starr's band, as a drummer, all of us being from the Midlands in the UK, and Edwin living up that way I believed him. So I asked if he could get a picture signed which he promptly did, and I have treasured that for years, although I cant locate it at the moment, It's somewhere... Anyhow I met up with my old College mate last year and he broke the news that the entire class were in on it, and the note was in fact signed by a guy called Curtis, who we all used to rip the piss out of... God Damm!!! That's Revenge.... So Curtis Smith from Chelmsley Wood in Birmingham, if your out there, my response will be swift !!! love George Smith, here's a good one on his only LP... M

Yep thats it (Joe King), bought it off here, Nice thing but I have the released 45, and its not a different mix, so could not really keep it... Eddie Ray two mixes, the one being more acoustic and featured on the Eccentric Soul: The Prix Label LP where it appears as (You Got Me (Demo). Prefer that one personally... the company released the other as a 45 I think, fast and furious track that is, and a minute too long in my opinion. Malcolm

Got the Chuck Jackson of Gene R on here, some years ago, its the Drivelers (Nick Brown's) old copy and signed by the man, to the man!! The Little Charles is from the West Coast and was part of a LA based collection, obviously his name was Coop, Ive seen loads of others all signed the same, be interested to find out if anybody else on here has some of his old tracks, and does anybody know anything more about him? allot of the 45's came over here via Shifty in 2002/3 I think... Got some great Aussie ones, lots of Shirl loves Merv, and all that... Mal

are you referring to Eddie Ray - You Got Me (Demo), Have it on Download, but did it make a vinyl 7? there was a Joe King acetate floating around last year, and I know there is another in the hands of a chap on here, never again, lovely thing but I couldn't sell it, I actually made a loss on it... what a fool.. Good day today, The Action box set was all sold out, and Ive not got the two new Soul Brother Records unissued tracks, but luckily saved by the brilliant Eccentric Soul: The Dynamic Label...
