  1. fabulous track, remember either Shifty or Andy Rix playing it on Richard Serlings show before one of those big Ritz allnighters, Ive mentioned this before, but Richard Serling announced it as 'the Shaddows' with two 'D's', for ages I thought two 'D's' was a singer... doh!
  2. good track, but no where near this one by them... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDAr7WKmxk0
  3. Do you mean Jeanette Jones - Cut loose, fabulous track, would I be right in thinking this was originally spun by Ian Clark on Acetate? seem to remember this being discussed ages ago.. I dont go to many soul do's, but add my name to the 'Hell yes, we want em!' camp... brilliant music, all of it... Mal:_)
  4. I had to have it when I first heard it, but eventually I thought it was a pretty boring record...just never played it... mal
  5. Nope, but the release was always said to not have come out, or got released in the normal way, most if not all the copies in circulation came direct from the label owner, not via the retail route as it were, Pete S knows about this one more.... Mal
  6. Never knew that.., never seen that either... M :-))
  7. not James Jamerson standing on his head or anything, but you still cant beat the opening of this!!!! I wonder if the MoWest connection might have had Jamerson on there? he did move out to the west coast... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsSoDsxB7Yo Mal:_)
  8. also came out on Philomega locally, nice press that one in vinyl.. worth a bit more though... I may have my old Perception copy, I'll take a look harry.. Mal
  9. I've tuned into his show, It's not for me, but at the end of the day its existence must be a good thing... he is who he is.. if you dont like that, tune into Solar.. Mal :-)
  10. was always told it was very very rare and all that, but there is one on Evil-bay every two or so months for some years now... Cressa Watson is better IMO... M:-)
  11. Might the unknown chap be Dave Flynn? Apologies Dave if it clearly isn't...
  12. that 'Martha Jean Love - Old Time Lover's' fantastic inst it, thats a cover up or one off right? M
  13. Baz, I've bought tons off you in the past, allot of great tracks, but can you tell me, which ones are reduced and by how much? Mal
  14. Don't search ebay then, and you won't be disappointed...I don't mean that sarcastically mate, but if you look, I mean really look and search, they are there.... Malcolm
  15. Was Johnny Vanelli a title he did a boot/re issue on? Mal
  16. It has got silly, and I have too agree I really tire of seeing the same listed at inflated prices every other day. What can you do though... Upto the MODS to take a view on this. Malcolm
  17. Think the flip of the Corondas on Bright a Star is a real killer though, either this or another 45 by them on the label.. Might upset some folk but Love stormy weather is another that's all over the place especially the horn blowing... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wgtKAFDEfuI Mal Totally forgot Ted Wilson, both sides... Guys a pub singer... Dreadful record and why folk pay so much for it is beyond me...
  18. On the subject of backing singers, that give a track some 'Soul' the girls on Sean Elliot's - the Joker, give a wee bit more than 'Soul' Ill wager.... Malcolm
  19. I useded to go to Reddingtons from the early eighties to mid 9ts I guess, never had much but I did pick one or two up there, from the late 8ts I'd do every record shop in town on a Sat, just on the off chance. But I'd be looking for house as well. Best place for me, for soul was Second City Sounds, which has been mentioned, and the flea market, I always got great 45s from there, one old chap had got a collection, and I bleed him dry over some weeks, couldn't afford to buy it in one go, but being a beginner I put back stuff like Ray Merrell & 21Century cause they sounded crap names. What a fool...Second City sounds would get collections in from Time to time, and I'd occasionally be allowed to go through them, there was some chap called Dave English, who worked at the Gay record shop, loading bay records, he and the owner were mates so he generally had first refusal. the Diskery was always good, but I have to say the life line in the early 9ts was when I started to go to the record fairs, there was one Mick Smith used to go too very near the old site of Reddingtons across from Moor street station, he had stuff for allot of money, remember flicking past the Groovettes, but most things were a tenner, can't believe how much some of those tenner records are worth now... Reddingtons were never into soul, they just didn't have anybody who knew anything about it, certainly not from a Northern point of view.., and folk are right, they could be right miserable sods.... Malcolm
  20. I can't wait to get the Way Out release as well, all great music above. M
  21. Covers 33 are good, that said their inner sleeves for 7 inches are no longer smaller than their card sleeves, if you get my meaning, we ll they are if you trim a bit, they may have solved this since I last bought a batch, but it was an issue for them last year... otherwsie Ive bought from them for years, they are nice people to deal with, and competitive... https://www.covers33.co.uk/
  22. that is funny.... remember Richard Serling announcing The Shaddows (With two D's) on his show, the 'Together Again' track on United Audio, for ages I thought two D's was a featured Singer... Dohhh Mal
  23. Luke, he sounds familiar... It was a long time ago now. I miss doing that work, Best job in the world at the time... M
  24. I used to do what could be termed 'Boring' stuff on your projects Ian, I agreed licenses for quite a few of your Master Cuts Series back in the 9ts early 2000, you would not have heard of me, but I represented various photographers via the agencies I worked at.. I was especially proud of this one 'Rare Groove' Maser Cuts, which was taken by my then boss at PYMCA.. I did the deal, but he got the credit.. has a great track listing which included 'Coke Escovedo - I Wouldn't change a thing' its a shame his copy went walkies when we got a few copies at the office, and I wasn't giving mine up, not for nobody... laughs Mal
  25. Might not be 'Soul Train' or anything like that, but this was such a big record when I started off going to soul do's, just reminds me of the Outrigger in Birmingham...
