  1. Original isn't that expensive is it? sure you could find a Champion one pretty cheap, quality wise always go for the one thats been licensed properly, they will on the whole have access to the masters/tapes etc.. boots generally dubbed from records I guess...and sound like it.. here's a good one, both sides: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GLORIA-JONES-Tainted-Love-SANDY-WYNNS-A-Touch-Of-Venus-Northern-Soul-7-45-/181534302717?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2a4449a1fd chap that did it is on here in fact....so I'm sure he can vouch for the sound quality... Mal
  2. Nice brace of Aussie Merry Claytons...
  3. there are 2 possibly 3 different Q releases of 'That's The Way' on Hound, or presses if you want. I think one does go for a bit more than others, but essentially its the same label, same song and mix.. Its been discussed on here before... Mal;_)
  4. rightly so Kev, Cecil Shaw is an absolute keeper... that Joe Odom is a dead ringer for Jerry Butler dont you think.. here's two I just got on Aussie release, Merry clayton is such a great singer... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eE6DZ7vwzw&list=PLA48B51F0E77FCEBB https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cR_Hk2wfvE mal:-)
  5. Is that the styrene one? Isn't there a vinyl one with very heavy lettering on the Washpan logo? Isn't that 7ts also? mal
  6. eBay is awash with all sorts of strange bidding, always has been... personally I think folk should challenge eBay allot more if they think something is adrift...
  7. hi all, Got a spare of this years 100 Club Single, two fabulous sides, September Jones is of course her version of the Mikki Farrow classic on Karate, June Jackson a really great early track for him, this is a really strong coupling this year... June Jackson & the Jackaels - Port of Happiness / September Jones - You Better know ** SOLD ** £60 Plus post Kind regards, Malcolm
  8. totally agree with the above, utterly fabulous 45, easily one of the very best discovered in recent times.. that being the last decade or so... so glad there was a look alike reissue, and I assume Patrinell got paid as well...same lot that did that Mowest double LP... Mal
  9. Ive never heard this before.. your right, squint and its a killer side / Lp... i want one...
  10. She just looks so classy, love her voice and look... dunno no how much good this footage would be for research though, that's some pretty intrusive text... mal
  11. Jesus, that is truly dreadful... no amount of covering up can disguise that fact!! Some folk might not agree, but Ted Wilson...again absolutely dreadful vocal.. I suppose its the backing track people like... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xl03KfquvCA
  12. see I think the complete opposite, the one I dont really rate is 'My Man, A Sweet Man' its ok, but very poppy really compared to her other stuff 'house for sale' especially on the Inst is quite sublime... the Mark Williams version, dunno cant make my mind up on that, its a bit flat, lacks a bit off 'Sparkle" but I do like the horn bit, I think the Instrumental is my favorite here, it really stands alone without a vocal... 13. they missed the decimal point out there..
  14. Forgot that one, remember an old boss having it on his desk one day, totally out of the blue, when I mentioned it, he said he had been reading my CV, and my interests section, and thought he would check it out! Thanks Dave, I kept the job so you must gave done a good job on that cd... M:-))
  15. Mine doesn't have a time on it, the below scan is off the net but its identical to mine... says Printed: 1976
  16. God your right!! How the hell did it get on there? M
  17. Sorry I cant just pick one, Soul Class of 66, Up Town Down South, So Soulful 70s, Soulful Kinda Music / For Collectors Only, The Northern Soul Of L.A. Vol 2, simply because it had Troy Dodds and June Jackson on it... and the daddy of em all for me, Modern Soul Connoisseurs that one Richard Serling put together, cost a about a fiver when it came out, and what a track listing given the normal pit falls of licensing songs from various sources... in fact he mentioned on his show recently that this comp just happened, everything he asked for became available and out it came, sheers quality comp... 18. Heard it when it came out and it didn't really convince me then, Ive buy tons of House, but there are an awful lot of tracks out there that I think simply depend too much on the very good vocals/riffs they sample, Rodney's voice would sound the business on anything, Syls vocal the same, so its down to a very repetitive backing, which IMO goes on 3 mins too long, just looping it and colouring it with an overlaid vocal etc isn't enough... the piano break is nice though, but again far too short, they should have developed that part of the track allot more... Mal :_)
  19. Just got mine from secret stash, nice thing is they give you an instant download with a 45 purchase... very nice Mal
  20. Good track this Andy, Ive got it on British Portrait as a 45, which I was told when I bought it, is the only way to get it on 7? mal

Virgil Griffin and Rythm Kings - A Forgotten Lover Flame and The Sons of Darkness - Solid Funk Rockie Robbins - Hang Tough Luther Davis Group - Keep on Dancin Eboney Essence - Let me in The Douglas High School - Black is Beautiful C.Henry Woods Troupe - The Stranger The Sweet Delights - Baby Be Mine Words of Wisdom - You're a Friend of Mine Glass House - Playing Games The Contessas - Keep On Keeping On had some nice Aussie bits, Canadian singer Patsy Gallant - Are You Ready for Love is a tad poppy, but great for $3 flip is 'World Of Fantasy.. ' also nice track.. she has a great voice... Mal
  23. is it? I got that one, never flipped it... result!! on the subject of IIBIB, the Inst version entitled 'Soul Heaven' by E.Rodney Jones that came out on Twilight ... some years back a friend came across a Jamaican release which used Rodney s voice over the top... very nice track.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRuwJsZnTm4 mal
