  1. oh shit, thought you were selling them, are you? mal
  2. never mentioned 45s Steve, my comments aimed at Lps, I don't know mate, I'm not a dj, but I do know lugging a 100 weight of box about is a pain in the arse, that said if older Djs are still doing it, then it's OK then.... I prefer OVO myself, it's just the silly arguments about it that makes me resist, if this bloke wants to cut carvers, then good for him, he must have a good reason, either that or his doctors told him to keep off the left leg after the last hip replacement... Malcolm
  3. I flogged loads last year, made some good money as well, be honest I've still got thousands of records, so I've hardly missed most of them, those I did regret selling I've bought back... But I must say I've wrestled with flogging all of it bar a 300 or so box, I listen to my I-tunes in the day, so playing records is a night time treat after a hard day, what's put me off is after I've been cherry picked of the so called ' money records' it's bloody hard to shift the small things everybody has, but I don't want to go through life not having Edwin Starr - backstreet and so on.... So I'll keep em... But sell to buy, that way I can actually start saving for my retirement....cause I cant foresee how much they will be worth once the early generations of collectors sell up and move on, that has already started I'd say... Tricky, and bloody addictive!! Malcolm
  4. Its a funny one rare British Issues, they are on the whole, pretty dull really, but due to us not regularly seeing that track on that label, it excites us... (Think Golum)... Shame it never came out in Oz, I'd go crazy for that, as it is my preference is a Yank Demo.. but agree you UK boys should get hot under the collar on the above, a right visual UK Paradise that... Mal
  5. think this is where the 'Original only' argument falls down... basically because its very HEAVY to carry around!!! dont get me wrong, I'm 100% all the way at home, but if I had to lug stuff as some of these Dj's do about like a 50 box of LP's, I'd certainly look to make that easier... Mal
  6. who Dave Flint?
  7. dont ask why, but having been upto 3 last night working, and flat out this morning, I took the time to restore this lovely 45 to better times... basically I do it every day to keep up my basic Photoshop skills, its something I do in down time.I .strangely enjoy restoring scans of Rare soul records... so here's Buddy in better days... dont he look the business!! mal
  8. My Manship guide used to live on the deck, doesn't not anymore, I find it useless pretty much, Ive read these things for years, like we all have, can think of better things to do than waste marker pen ink... In fact it spoils the handmade crocheted doily Liza dropped on there.... now they are a waste of time!! mal
  9. never seen an issue, can you post a piccie up? Mal
  10. We have all been there Jason, if you know the guy well you will know I guess, if it's somebody new, ask for immediate payment, or perhaps a holding deposit, I've done that before, non refundable and good to set a time limit for the full payment. Something along those lines perhaps, not an easy one and some on here don't hold at all these days, first full payment gets it. Mal
  11. Samantha mentioned this 45 recently to me, said she had never seen it... do you want to sell that TSU? malcolm
  12. did it go for the full price asked Kirsty? Mal
  13. I shop there when I'm around Newport, had some good stuff over the years...
  14. Sorry Dave, the day job, developing other peoples websites is taking all my time at the moment. So had to slow down on my personal one... Nearly there though!!! Malcolm
  15. do you have a nice scan of the track? mal
  16. What labels are all these on? Mal
  17. Love the 'The SpeedLimit - I Cant Say No' track, Pat Brady auctioned one off some time ago, I grabbed the scan and a sound file, but only a min long anybody got a full recording? Mal
  18. they were £60 from John Doe (Withers), and thats a cheap as they went on his regular list, not saying he sold them direct or at soul do's cheaper.. but I got his list religiously for years, every one and never saw it cheaper that that.. Mal
  19. they are two slightly different versions if memory serves me right, personally I prefer the Jameco release, lots more Oomph...
  20. interested in this one: No No, Starr- Pull Your Self Together / Swing Your Love My Way -Midas 301 Soul £10 but I wont pay (£8.22) post to the UK, what can you do with that, given its a tenner record? Malcolm
  21. makes me laugh, I can normally get away with most of the record collecting 'Bollox' when I speak to friends who simply dont know about soul 45 collecting, but the 2nd press 'Dimple' in the master plate... dont think I could ever relay that one without feeling, well... a bit sad
  22. I've mentioned this before, but there was a glut of folk like me that bought it in the 8ts early 9ts simply because it made the Soul Supply LP "under the street lamp' every record on that LP was a want, as I remember it wasn't an expensive track but back then £40 quid to me was allot of money.... It all goes around doesn't it... Malcolm
  23. Just saw this online, interesting isn't it, flipped with a totally different track, so deffo a one off made for whoever, Mad Mike... dont know what all thats about, maybe a local DJ perhaps? but be interested to find out why this exists as it does, any ideas? Here's the blurb from the ad.. 'gateway metal 7" 45 - Harvey - any way you wanta - and the triumphs - draggin wagon - condition is nice clean VG+!!!!!!!! - dated 12/9/67 - good fidelity as you can hear the reverb - plays with slight hiss but doesnt distract - period correct super rare gateway metal 7" 45 from mad mikes backyard - 2- SIDED MAD MIKE MONSTER!!!!!! very rare mad mike collectible' Malcolm
  24. Every time this happens to me, I rant and rave, and then the person gets back with a totally plausible reason for not following up quickly, kind of makes me feel really foolish... what can you do... had some chap from Germany I think inquire about a record several times, that I hadn't sold, in the end I just told him I thought he was really weird and that he should seek help... but not with me... that did the trick and the record still hasn't sold... Mal
  25. can you get me one mate? m
