Ok, here it is, Belles - Don't Pretend Backing track played by Russ Winstanley in 74 at Wigan. There are two versions, one on the Soul Fox Label done by Soussan, and another one with overdubbed strings and lead violin played by Winstanley on an acetate, but dropped when Sousan did his Soul Fox Bootleg. I'd guess both were from Soussan, he just played about with one sent it to Winstanley as an acetate, and booted / pressed the other version... Here is a link to a thread where it was discussed >>HERE<<

didn't Pete Smith used to talk / play an Inst version of this? so not the Soul Fox boot, he said the version had been played at wigan, and I think had never appeared on vinyl as a legit or boot copy... Here's a proper one on Mirwood Demo, Mirwood Blue issue boot, I'd check the MR delta matrix number, its from 1966 so sould tally with the numbering for that year... deadwax details on the paper label stuck on styrene original Side A - 66 - 1080 - A (scratched in) (MR) stamped in a circular squiggle (scratched in) Sm (scratched in) Δ60224 (scratched in) Side B - 66 - 1078 - B (scratched in) (MR) stamped in a circular squiggle (scratched in) Sm (scratched in) Δ60225 (scratched in)

I met some chap at Pete Smith's house a few years back, he was from Wolverhampton but had lived out there years, he would know this immediately. I'll ping Pete, see if I can an answer... I can see the post you put up with the demo, I'd say you were right about that being 66... so the above is a re-issue? RCA did lots of reissues on Orange RCA here didnt they, Crackin Up, being the most known... commerial companies like to replicate work / products over across different territories, it makes for good business on the whole, it is logical RCA out there would have done the same... ?

Sunday Times Style Magazine article 3/3/24
Mal C replied to Frankie Crocker's topic in All About the SOUL
Allot of words about who they are, and where the concerts will be on the flyer, but nothing about the actual tracks they will do on the night... You could pull the short straw here and get Joe 90, Footsie and Hawaii 5 o! Could you imagine the BBC orchestra doing Travis Wammack - Scratchy! with Stuart Marconie doing the weird vocal bit... -
I have what you have, think that came from Tim Brown, but in the back of my mind, I’ve read something recently about who this group became, i.e. morphed into another group.

I have a very nice clean issue is thats any help? I know it's not a demo...

Jim McFarland - LONELY LOVER (Summit 1791)
Mal C replied to AnthonyReichardt's topic in Look At Your Box
Here is the R.P.R acetate, think this is from Mick Holdsworth's website, can you confirm Mick? info says: Eight inch reference acetate, scrolled to 7''. This is a slightly longer version, maybe 8/10 seconds longer, where Jimmy stops singing and the music and backing singers briefly carry on without him. The reverse is uncut and unlabelled. Light background noise, listen to soundclip. -
PM'd you

If anybody wondered where this brill site had gone, it seems to disappear and reappear quite often, but it’s now been hosted by a chap called David Sayers alias Recordmuncher. I was glad to find it again... https://sleeves.bigboppa.co.uk/
