these two Mp3's of 'Human too' are the same song, just at different speeds... got that wrong
-
The LP, I asked about some months ago, somebody on here quoted £70 something like that, I saw Gene R sold his a year or so back for £30, so thats what I offered, and shortly after was offered one at that price... so £30... I'll check the two Mp3's I have see if they are indeed different versions, I'd love to get this 45, but it seems it may only exist on a label, not n the grooves....have I got that right Ted?

Bobby Valentino - Use It Before You Lose It - On Gold Fania
Mal C replied to Joe90's topic in Record Wants
think that Paul Ruditz was selling his not that time ago... in fact its still on his web site, spanker as well https://www.rudzysrecords.co.uk/1/prod_1339042-BOBBY-VALENTIN-USE-IT-BEFORE-YOU-LOSE-IT-FANIA.html -
Nice to see Parallax sliders in use on Soul related web site... were even 'analogue' when it comes to web sites!!! I wouldn't advertise the fact its a word press site though, your asking to get hacked... best to change the bottom credit, and eighties theme credit, and you should be able to select a different permalink in your settings panel for your addy... old thread, but on the subject of Clifford Binns, I always loved that Carrie lp that came out in the 8ts, had a unreleased version of 'I'm Human Too', which I love. I can see from Dave Rimmer;'s site that it actually did come out on a 45, and I have an MP3 file which is allot slower, would I be right in thinking thats the released cut? it doesn't sound like its been sped up by the way in case somebody suggests that.. scans actually of the other side of the LP, but you get the gist.. actually I think this lp has 'today I kissed my new love' on it as well, fabulous swayer.. Soul City White Demo's (Handwritten By Dave Godin)
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
that sounds good Pete, can you pip a scan up? M -
Both very acceptable Ray, the more collectable 45 is the Kent Anniversary disc, but folk pay good money for either. Mal

Hi all, this is a great track, and nice way to have it. B.B King - Paying the Cost to be the Boss (Dutch Stateside Pic sleeve) EX disc and VG++ Sleeve. £15 Nothing wrong with the sleeve bit of ring wear and its been taped, see scans.. I'd put up a clip but they all seem to be live versions of the song, not the official 45 release... You pay post £2.50 1st Class signed for within the UK. Kind regards, Malcolm

here's another, actually this is for sale as I have it on US Bluesway, a nice Dutch - BB King 'Paying the Cost to be the Boss'.

some more Aussie discs that have come through the post recently.. Patsy gallant is a Canadian singer, better known for her 'It'll All Come Around' track I guess, but she produced loads of really great songs in the late 7ts... I think shes an accomplished actress now..anyhow both sides of this 45 are a tad on the pop side, but they are really great songs, and I had to have a sold center 'Attic' release...WOF is a very sparse moody number.. Dorothy Moore is a Malaco track and the flip of 'I Believe You' which i guess was the intended A side, Jerry butler with his version of OTSWS.. good version, same backing I think, or very close.. Solomon Burke is one of my favorite of his Atlantic sides; although I dont really collect NZ stuff, its nice to have Monkey Time on Green Columbia... malcolm :-))

Rick Foster 'one Of The North West's Finest' Rip
Mal C replied to Goldsoul's topic in All About the SOUL
Really sad news, I didn't know Rick well at all, but as hundreds of soul fans who called after tracks from the list, his warm and friendly voice will be missed immensely. The only time I went to the mill was to photograph Tim. Rick was very entertaining and really pleasant after a very long journey from the midlands. So the picture shows Tim looking out of shot, which was my idea, but didnt really work, and Rick is beaming in the back ground...! Rest in Peace... Malcolm -
Seem to remember there being a Northern night on at one of the Amnesia's... it was a very gritty place, lots of Nutters! which I loved... After one night I was sitting in a car with allot of mates, and we pipped a Ted Massey tape on from the Old Vic, two of the guys weren't into Northern but they did say it was bloody good music to come down on... mal

Reports from 'Bultins' and the 'Daily Mail..' Dunno bout you but I'd seriously wonder about those two sources... line from the Mail article states, Hunt, 59, cried out 'Oh please God', slumped across a table on stage and then fell to the floor.. hope I'm not being disrespectful, that sounds like an encore at Butlins... Lets hope both Mr Hunts are better soon.. Mal.C

Here's another of my random Soul / House comparisons, if you dont like house 89-93, then this will be lost on you, if you do your in for a treat... So Picture the eye of the storm, Shelly's in Stoke is packing them in Friday / Saturday nights, Amnesia in Cov is raving all weekend, The Hummingbird in My home town Birmingham is the place to be come Friday night, a pretty dangerous place, you never went to the bogs on your own else you would lose your gear with out doubt...and there was always trouble between black and white, especially with the Kings Standing kids, villa supporters mainly... but its were the city's cultures met on Friday night.. However on the dance floor, none of that, just a mass of kids giving it everything, the steady stream of 50 or so literally skipping around a packed floor is something Ive never seen anywhere else, in fact the Hummingbird had things Ive never seen in any other club anywhere in the world... You can see why we absolutely loved 'Patti Day - Right Before My Eyes'. For me this bridges the Gap between two musical genres I love, you can dig the vocals on the Chicago stuff, but this just sounds 'Northern Soul' to my ears.... and it was such a MASSIVE record in the clubs back then... You dont need to reply to the thread, its not why I put it up, just listen to clip, and perhaps see things from another angle...!! Enjoy... 'Patti Day - Right Before My Eyes' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaPSdvFQXh8 Today's BONUS tracks, cause there is always bonus tracks.......heard allot in 89/90, its never played since to my knowledge, has bugger all to do with northern soul I'm afraid, but no apologies... its very DARK!!! and oh so good... 'The Suburban Knight - The Art Of Stalking' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7N8tNuuGv8 and this is simply awesome...same label as 'Landlord- I Like it...' Mal C replied to Toodarnsoulful's topic in Record Wants

Original isn't that expensive is it? sure you could find a Champion one pretty cheap, quality wise always go for the one thats been licensed properly, they will on the whole have access to the masters/tapes etc.. boots generally dubbed from records I guess...and sound like it.. here's a good one, both sides: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GLORIA-JONES-Tainted-Love-SANDY-WYNNS-A-Touch-Of-Venus-Northern-Soul-7-45-/181534302717?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2a4449a1fd chap that did it is on here in fact....so I'm sure he can vouch for the sound quality... there are 2 possibly 3 different Q releases of 'That's The Way' on Hound, or presses if you want. I think one does go for a bit more than others, but essentially its the same label, same song and mix.. Its been discussed on here before... Mal;_)

rightly so Kev, Cecil Shaw is an absolute keeper... that Joe Odom is a dead ringer for Jerry Butler dont you think.. here's two I just got on Aussie release, Merry clayton is such a great singer... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eE6DZ7vwzw&list=PLA48B51F0E77FCEBB https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cR_Hk2wfvE mal:-)

The Tomangoe's I Really Love You Washpan On Ebay
Mal C replied to snooky's topic in Look At Your Box
Is that the styrene one? Isn't there a vinyl one with very heavy lettering on the Washpan logo? Isn't that 7ts also? mal -
eBay is awash with all sorts of strange bidding, always has been... personally I think folk should challenge eBay allot more if they think something is adrift...
