Jackson - It Seems Like I've Been Here Before, how close are these songs really... Now I'm spit balling here, but Harry Starr a possible pseudonym min for JJ Jackson? Just a thought.. Mal

Berwick street is a Bun Fight, when I got to Soul Jazz records it was packed, I went up to the counter asked for the Sandra Wright LP, was told to fill in a form, which I did, then the lady says whats the number>? I had No Idea, so she says "you need to fill that out before I can serve you", so I said its ok, I'll go up to Soul Brother records in Putney to get it, its their release anyhow... I agree about the queuing, there was a couple shops that literally had cues round the block, madness... Mal

Have to admit I winced a bit at some of the prices I was charged, but as a day with a bit of added excitement I was happy to pay those prices... I really enjoyed the day, it was nice to stand round a full counter, being thrown copies of tracks played, just as it used to be in shops in the eighties, reminded me of buying new House releases on a Sat morning at places like Don Cristie's in Birmingham... a quality 'Boys' experience.. lol M

Fabulous thread, really interesting to see the older chaps standing their ground, and as some have said the emotions involved...still now... for all of us born after 69 he's just a name really, but I'd love to hear from him on here, I think some of you might even get stage fright! Clearly a reissue, originals are all styrene as in sure the chap above mentioned... The ep, well it's exciting until you realise the released tracks are the better tracks, that promo that got pulled, isn't very good really against the other released 45,s..: Just my opinion of course.. Mal.c

this may or May not qualify here, but it was new to me until I visited Soul Brother records yesterday... and a big topic of discussion at a soul do in Birmingham last night with a mate Jason Starr... If anybody reading this likes Jazz fusion, just buy this... absolutely brilliant.... Carlos Garnett - Anthology / Soul Brother Records Blurb from the label... Saxophonist Carlos Garnett was born in Panama in 1938 and moved to Brooklyn NY USA in 1962. He recorded with Freddie Hubbard, Andrew Hill and on Miles Davis influential funky electronic album ‘On the Corner’ in ‘72. He also played on Davis’ ‘Big fun’ and ‘Get up with it’ albums before recording five highly prized albums for the Muse label between 1974-1978. The albums include many Funky and Spiritual jazz tracks which have become Jazz Dance classics. These albums have become in demand and hard to find collectors items. All have recently been released on CD by Soul Brother Records to critical acclaim. Jazzwise magazine wrote of his material ‘If John Coltrane had recorded with James Brown this is how it may have sounded’. For Record Store Day 2015 Soul Brother Records have compiled a Double Vinyl LP featuring 12 of his most in demand tracks.
