Is Jack Montgomery The Most Auctioned Record?
Mal C replied to Frankie Crocker's topic in All About the SOUL
the only one I've let go was 'Beauty Isn't Born', remember getting very excited about it, only to decide it's his worst record, its nice and all that, but its a forgettable song.. that said the bar was always right at the top wasn't it... always thought of him on a par with Bobby reed, both didnt relase much, but 3/4 45's they did are right up there... and both have a lesser track here and there.....I wonder, somebody must have discovered other tracks he (JM) recorded but never came out? mal -
saw this yesterday, and thought I'll come back to that, that Flanny again!!! lol

Just discovered this, really good version of The Count Five - Psychotic Reaction, or was this the first one? anyhow most you Garage Lovers out there will know this I guess... but check it out if you dont, great 'Psychotic' break in there... Blurb from the You tube post: From Ruffin North Carolina a garage band with one rare 45 that has become legendary from various garage collections (songs Whatzit/Bootleg) 500 were pressed but never commercially released and lost in attics and garages in 1967 and with a prior (1966) ultra rare acetate (songs Theme/Love my Baby) which was cut in 6 copies for the band and all but one, were lost. From a single copy and that only acetate we mastered and made this 4 song 7" ep,two songs here heard for the first time!! Enjoy!!

thats true... think given Soul Brother are releasing the 'Sandra Wright' Lp, I'll start there and work my way over to Oxford Street... I dont drink alcohol any more so a trendy coffee and a sticky bun is as strong as it gets I'm afraid...
-
Just been toying with the idea of spending RSD in Birmingham, as there is a new do on the night called Second City Soul launching... anyhow the participating stores in Birmingham are so piss poor, I think I'll trap up to Berwick Street London again, or prop up the bar in Putney, only thing with Soul Brother is there is bugger all there bar the shop, at least in Berwick Street you get a real flavor of the day and a trendy coffee on every corner... Anybody going to Soul Brother records on here? Mal
-
I agree, all thats a load of rubbish, you either prop up the bar or you dance, or these days you go out side to have a fag... remember I found it allot easier to go into a packed dance floor, that way nobody is really watching you and you can make a fool of yourself in total freedom...strange though that may seem... One thing you dont get these days is the 'Buffet', adds a whole other dimension to a Soul do I can tell you...Soul and Vol-au-Vents go hand in hand... Malcolm
