  1. The quantity came via 'Brooklyn Born' Joe Giattino & Rich Rosan. Same people that things like Frederick Hymes, Four Voices Gold label, San Francisco TKO's, Toby Bullard etc came from. Rich came up to me at a record show back then, he was after large quantity of 78's. Didn't matter if they were cracked or broken he said he wanted to melt them. First thing I thought was he wanted to convert the shellac into French polish.
Stewartby 26th March 2022. I just want to say a big thank you to all that made this such an enjoyable event. Andy Felts started the evening off at 7:30 with an hour of quality records, starting off with Lowrider, Sweet, mid tempo, then building to full on Northern Soul classics. Geoff Ware followed Andy with a 40 minute set of some of the best sounds I've ever heard him spin. Then I did 40 minutes. I did a good example of why you're supposed to clean the dust off your records, otherwise you end up with a big lump of fluff on the stylus followed by people laughing because your prized sound just jumped, twice Hammie was up next with 40 minutes of quality, followed by the star guest....Pete Lyster. Wow, one hour & fifteen minutes of some of the best sounds on planet earth. Pete & his lovely wife Cathy are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet & they both really know their rare Soul records. Pete is exceptional behind the decks. Thanks again mate x That left Hammie, Geoff & myself to carry on to 1am. A big thank you to Sue on the door Thanks to Vesty for helping me to set up, and put away all the equipment. Thanks to Dave Crawley for all his help behind the scenes. And a big special thank you to all that came along, I know some of you came a long way x Ady x
  2. Sound system all set up & ready to go. Look forward to seeing some of you later x
  3. Yes he did have it & I was there when he played it one night, but sadly it hissed quite badly. Derek was a lovely man, I do miss him.

  10. Hi Pete, That August & Deneen looks pretty. I did have (don't own now) a Patti & the Emblems, that's a rare one.
  11. For some reason there's quite a few West Coast copies of My Baby, there's a few on ebay at this moment. Johnny Sayles West Coast on the label is rare.
  12. Yes still got it. It's weird being on blue.
  13. I have posted this one up before on FB, but not on here. West Coast issue.
  14. I bought one off Pat, really clean copy. Not sure of the year but would guess 94/95.
  15. Can I have it back please?
  16. Wondering if anyone has a black issue they'd sell please? THE BOBBETTES - HAPPY GO LUCKY ME - RCA. BLACK ISSUE
  17. It's a boot, it should have a stamped matrix like this...
  18. Don't worry John..it went to a good home
  19. There's no restrictions. You don't need tickets. A fiver on the door. Keith the badge man will be there selling his cd's, badges, etc.
  20. Hi, That clarifies your question, I can see what your asking now. Just a thought, rather than spending £10 or £20 on a reissue/boot of a classic oldie why not spend the same figure on a genuine first press classic oldie? For example. Last night on here I replaced my hissy worn out copy of the Parliaments 'Don't be sore at me' for a near mint copy for twenty quid. That's a classic floor filling oldie for the price of a boot. There's still plenty of genuine first press titles for that kind of money. BUT, it won't last much longer the way things are going. Imagine if Spyder Turner "I can't make it anymore" was a really rare record it would be four figures, but there's still plenty of them on the market so it's ten or twenty quid, but what a brilliant classic floor filling oldie! Anyway, that's my thoughts on it. Take care Ady
  21. Can you give us a few titles of the re-issues that you have been buying? Are you talking about re-issues of classic oldies? The ones with the look-a-like labels?
  22. Likewise mate. No hammie, but Vesty Mark & Sue will be with me.
  23. Now this one I'm really looking forward too!
