  1. You'd get back there & find they'd just taken delivery of a mountain of manship price guides..
  2. Tell you what Rich, can you imagine the look on the persons face that had them pressed up when he took delivery of them. He opens the box only to find they've pressed it on the wrong vinyl ! oh F..K !!
  3. I may be missing something here, but how do we know that the gold label ones with the Nashville Matrix in the run outs are legit? I've not heard anything definite to say they are. Why can't they have come from someone who's found the pressing plates? I did think it was strange when they first showed up, in a small quantity, but then as demand grew a load more came along. Just a thought. pottsy
  4. Well John, I will say, Lisa does speak her mind !
  5. don't know if he's noticed yet

  11. hope to see you on the 29th at RSG mate.
  12. Hi Kev, I'm a little confused by what you have said here. Do you put on a local do? If yes, & you have used the proceeds to buy the records you mention, then surely that is for your own financial gain, is it not? or am I missing the plot? Regards, pottsy
  13. Can anyone come up with a picture of the Stemmons Express group?
  14. Yes Tony, a fair bit more from what i've been told.
  15. I would have thought Ben E. King - I can't break the news to myself - Atlantic demo
  16. No, dont make sense to me at all Len. If someone asked me to dj for them & told me I was going to dj after someone that was going to be playing cd's, i'd tell them to get lost, full stop. If I was paying good money to go into a venue only to find someone playing off cd's, i'd ask for my money back, or at the very least kick up a major fuss. I can listen to c.d.'s at home, as can anyone else.
  17. I hope it's not a snipe at you steve ! I'll vouch for you, apart from being a nice all round fella, good on the mike, you play some blindin tunes...mello souls, magnetics, hamilton movement, margaret littles to name but a few, so why would you ever want to play any vinyl carver look a likes
  18. Stuck on your forehead is it?
  19. Hello Baz, This is a very, very long shot, but do you by any chance mean the Jay Walkers - I got my own thing going - Selsom ? That has green with black stripes on the label, but it does have yellow as well. pottsy.
  20. I went to a do a couple of months ago, one of the dj's had been to somewhere like vinyl carvers & had a few tracks cut onto each side of the record, but he must have forgot to write the titles & artists on, so on the mike we heard...."This is...errrrm..track two. This must be track three..." Come on mate get a grip, you know who you are, we pay good money to come into your do!
  21. So, from what you have said here, you're not knocking oldies do's, just the one's that have dj's that insist on playing vinyl carver jobs with laser copied labels on shock..horror or worse still, cd's. Cant argue with that. There's nothing worse than carting your original vinyl to a do, then to have the dj before you play half your set on boots. That can be a bit frustrating I must admit. I do think that dj's should mix their sets up. I dont think they should play a whole hour of unfamiliar sounds. I find that boring. pottsy.
  22. Hi Paul, Just a thought. I'm ignorant to the ins & outs of your business, I was just wondering, what kind of percentage, if any, do you take from the artists returns? You're painting yourself as being a guardian of these artists, is this the case? This is in no way any kind of dig at you, just be interesting to know. Regards, Ady.
  23. Terry, what intrigues me is you keep saying about places like lifeline & progressive venues, yet you collect u.k. pressed oldies. not knocking that for a second as so do i. but was just wondering...lets say you were at a venue somewhere, the d.j. was playing things like Chubby Checker, Tony Middleton, H.Lands etc. you turn round to your mates & say sod this & go up to the decks to have a moan, but you're confronted by a d.j. playing from a box full of mint u.k., would you tell him to get a life? or say blindin set mate? Just a thought
