  1. I was wondering the same thing Mike, & its a demo without the really good flip side. I bought a demo a while back, didn't think to look out in the barn where I had some
  2. John, From the facts it looks like the yellow label Trans-American (with stamp in dead wax) is the first press. The Orange one is the second press. Its not 'exactly' the same label, because by the time this was pressed they had changed their telephone number. You & Paul seem very definite about this 1973 re-press, as a matter of interest, did you get them done?
  3. So are you saying they had the same telephone number ? Just double check that.
  4. Hello Paul, Are you 100% sure about this? No chance it was an orange issue on Trans-American that was a legitimate repress? They wouldn't have changed the label name to 'Trans' if it was legit. Regards, pottsy
  5. If the telephone number on this Aki Aleong is 213-384-9334, & I cant bloody read it, then it points towards the Yellow Trans-American release of Bob Relf, with the 'stamp' in the dead wax as a first issue. Or even if the tel. number isn't the same, it would seem most likely the pressing plant would carry on using the same paper before swapping to another colour. The tel. no changed on the orange one, its 213-389-9938
  6. Could someone post up a close up scan of the Aki Aleong, please. Would be interested to see the telephone number on the label, I was just wondering if it's the same as the next number, Bob Relf on the yellow label ? Here's a picture or 2 of the yellow label copy, with the stamp in the dead wax that looks like 2 ovals with a 'V' coming from a dot in the centre.
  7. Also, I find it strange that the 2 numbers prior to Bob Relf's no TA-0010 are yellow labels. Village Crusaders - TA-0008 yellow label Aki Aleong - TA-0009 yellow label I know, lets make TA-0010 an orange label, then re-press it on yellow. Cant see them doing that somehow, can you ?
  8. Here's a strange thing. When I first started going out to LA i'd mentioned (prior to leaving these shores) some local titles to collectors out there that I had in small quantity, the 'orange' Bob Relf being one of them. Interesting, they'd never seen them before. All the copies I took out there were grabbed off me within days of landing. It's strange, but the only label colour that had been seen was the odd trashed yellow one. So did someone go out there & grab all the orange stock in one hit in the early days? If you look on popsike they all, apart from one copy, come from the U.K. Or is in fact the 'orange' the second press that was pressed for the U.K. market ? I honestly dont know, but it does look like all the orange ones came over in one lot. So who brought them over ? Perhaps they will tell us ? Just a thought. pottsy
  9. Kens right, on the issue. The daisy stamp is the same as the ones in the dead wax of Capitol label records. But, the demo's were pressed at another plant, & they DONT have the daisy stamp.
  10. Thanks for that lloydee Just need to find out about this one then......
  11. Can anyone give me an idea on the value of these two West Coast 1980's records, please. PRESTON RAWLINGS - A LOVE LIKE YOURS AND MINE - SOUND OF SAN DIEGO. 7". CALIFORNIA GOLD BILALIAN CREATION - SAVE THE CHILDREN. 12". Many thanks. pottsy
  12. sorry Ian, but that is pretty funny. Oh my god, I just thought am I part of this small insular bunch The truth is you miss this 'scene' more than you'd ever admit too, so best not burn bridges you may want to cross again. I have no axe to grind with you, apart from the fact you ate most of my curry when we last talked, but I for one would like to wish you well with your venture, I can't comment on your album or MySpace thingy as i've not looked or listened to it, but good luck with it Goodbye
  13. Only just noticed this thread. I've got a Sidney Hall. Styrene wise it's as near to mint as you'll find. I played it once to record it both sides, plays mint, doesn't distort at all & no hiss. You dont want a lesser grade for the "I'm a lover" side. There's a date, initials & x's on labels but no fade or damage. Make me an offer.

Hi John, But wasn't it a case of the owner of the record running the price up against my mate, who was bidding on it? seem to remember it was just those 2 bidding against each other ? Regards, pottsy
  15. Amazing when you think the under bidders wanted it for the deep side
  16. welch on the deal Dan !
  17. I think you'll regret selling this mate, infact I know you will, next time you're out & someone plays it. Dont want to tread on anyones toes though
  18. It wont be a boot then mate. There's a few west coast things like this, think the Kel Osborne - A Law against a heartbreaker is the same.
  19. I know what you mean Dan, it has a whopping great run out/dead wax area, about 20mm, with 7 rotations within it. Is that what made you think it a boot ?
  20. I've got one that my son found in a junk shop in L.A., i'll post up a couple of close up photo's, it's the one with the cleaner cut middle.
  21. Be interesting to know why he had a second press done a year later. Did it sell well the first time out then?
  22. Mine has to be....when you've got a record that your about offer to someone & they come out with "Oh, I had one of those, I sold it in 1982 for thirty five quid". yeh, but you aint got the f****r now though, have you !
  23. Just got my copy this morning, there's a nice section on U.K. records in it. Loads of pictures & lots more pages this time, more like a book than a mag ! Well done Dave & Jason
