  1. huh huh huh
  2. Re Chuck Flamingo. There are two presses of this 45, wow, just got a sense of deja vu then. One's a loud, clear take, the others low volume & muffled. Big, difference between the two. pottsy.
  3. The Cenco delta is 39025.
  4. Do you No i'm sure I wont!! do you think so i'd have thought £25 max..Great, thanks, i've always liked Al Downing!!!
  5. Blinkin eck Warren, you've got it bad mate if you need to sit & chat about it over a cuppa, just pop round, you know i'm always here. Just put my mind at rest though, ahem, are you going for the Al Downing - I'm Just Nobody - Polydor that's just gone up ? Is this what it's all about ? sorry.
  6. Just had a look in the Soul Harmony book & they have Cenco 1003 down as Lonely is the night / Little darling, that's strange. Looks like the Cenco release must be the 1st one, as the Rayco one is 1965. Listening to it at the moment, 'something fo the books' is ok, but the 'Lonely is the night' is brilliant (if you like slower numbers) plus it has a bit of group backing.
  7. It did come out as "something for the books" chalky, in March 1961 Sorry, not got a double on it at the moment though. Regards, pottsy. ps I'd better have a listen to it, to be honest i've never played it before, it's just that i've collected the label.
  8. p.s. you just stick to writing books mate, & leave the collecting to us lot
  9. Ooof, as I sit here & shake my head in total disbelief at your venomous reply john But...ahem...at least I own all the records that you & I debate so vigorously Regards, pottsy.
  10. My mate, better not say his name, best check first. I was looking at it a few weeks ago, def white demo. What about that fella on hear that broke his white demo copy a couple of years ago, had it sticking up in his record box tripped over it, or something like that, he posted up a photo of it.
  11. The group flip on this is a real pretty tune. Go on Dazz, wack on a sound clip mate
  12. Doh ! pottsy's "THEORY" looks like it just became a "FACT" john. Now have a look at the wax on the white demo, you'll find that interesting. Regards, pottsy
  13. That's right Pete. That's why I explained what had gone on in my post.
  14. Depends how you look at it John. Looking in from the outside it may seem laughable to you, but what you have to remember is that the person that Shifty sold it too is a good friend of his. And I may add a very good friend of mine too. It's all about a two way traffic system, helping each other, NOT just taking or trying to screw the last pound out of each other. I know for a fact that these two fellas have both helped me in the past So, yes it was a recent sale, & like Russ has said...a nice white demo for £700. Regards, pottsy.
  15. That's right, they did. My mint- copy jumps near the end. There are two presses of the issue ( & i'm not talking about the bootleg), then there's the demo. When Gwen first came over to the U.K. & Rob Thomas got those copies off her we went back to my chalet with them. It was at that point I realised there were two presses. One (the same as mine in the photo) has a narrower run in & run out dead wax compared to the other. These copies have real tight grooves. It's a much louder recording than the other press. This is the press that is prone to have the jump towards the end. However, in those copies there was one that didn't jump at all, then another one jumped sometimes. I played all the copies. The other press, with the wider run in/run out, was made from a different vinyl & pressed on a different press. Like I say, lower volume, but these DON'T jump. I seem to remember the green was a touch lighter in colour on these. When I asked Gwen if she remembers anything about why there were two presses, she didn't. Hope this helps. pottsy ps There was a photo that I took of Tommy holding all the copies that night in the chalet, it went in Manifesto at the time, perhaps he can remember how many copies there were.
  16. As a matter of interest, did Rob Thomas get the master tape, or access to the master tape off Ady ?
  17. I have told this one on here before, but whilst you're finding it a little painful to sit down James, perhaps this will bring a touch of light relief. A few years back I was sitting talking to a mate from the states about Gloria Gaynors - Never can say goodbye. He said, I wonder how many top u.k. dj's will know the flip to this massive hit? Good point I said, lets find out ! So, I just happened to find an old one sided acetate without a label on of the flipside down the garden shed, like you do, ahem. That weekend, Sam & Arthur were at Bedford. Armed with the portable I set up shop. Have a listen to this Sam, see what you think. Nice he said, how much ? No sorry mate, want to keep it. Arthur...that's nice. Into the picture walks Rob Thomas. Have a listen to this Rob. Rob blasts forth with a rather eloquent " Give that fooker ere, sure you must owe me for some fookin thing!" & off he drones into the distance emitting a sound very reminiscent of an old Lancaster bomber. Next weekend he's behind the decks, prime spot, playing all his big numbers. Puts on the Appointments - I saw you there. Then puts on "HIS NEW BIG DISCOVERY". A bloke comes walking from the middle of the dance floor & up to the decks & shouts at Rob " why are you playing the flip to Never Can Say Goodbye?" Regards, pottsy.
  18. NO ! I'm right ! Even though I know I might not be ...but if I say it loud enough & lots of times, well, they'll go along with it !
  19. F***k me Seb, you're starting to sound like Manship
  20. That's right Dazz. I think the fact that there's 22 U.S. copies on popsike & all of them are on Minit, & there's not one on Imperial says it all. Nice find Juddy! pottsy
  21. Here ya go ! https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/searchartist....LATER%2C+PATSIE
  22. Hi Mark, Nice one, yes I did mean label releases. So looks like there's a few things on the label then, as that one you've posted up is D-104. Anyone know what the others are? Regards pottsy ps sorry salvosoul, dont want to hijack your wants thread.
  23. Hi mate, Potsie Slater, it's Patsie, i'm Potsie Interesting thing, the "Bye Love" has the same release number as her one on the blue Douglas label D-100. I must admit i'd not really listened to this side before, just the other side, which is not a bad dancer. Are there any other releases on the label? Regards, Potsie
  24. Hi Jo, This wasn't Paul Dunne's playlist, it was mine. How do I remember ? A mate of mine took a cam corder & recorded the whole night & i've just sat & watched bits of it. I had hair ! It was before 2003. I'll have a look later & see if there is a date on the film footage. Do you remember saying I had to play the Tokays for Paul TP? Nice seeing all the old faces...Dave Flynn on the dance floor. Do you remember those mods in Parkers & shades from America that came in looking for me. They were trying to look cool, but because it was so dark & they had shades on one fell over a chair. You then called me & asked me to send you a play list. Had to do it by post as it was before we had a computer. oh dear Regards, pottsy.
