  1. Can anyone that has the Gold label release post up the delta number in the dead wax, please. The orange label one is 46365. Was just wondering if they were pressed up at the same time Just had a quick count up on the copies on popsike, 22 Gold, 1 rough Orange. Some dont have pictures but I know the ones that were sold a while back that came from the record store that was closed in 1970, were gold labels.
  2. Hi John, Is the "All of my life" cut at 33 & "Lets start over" at 45 like it says on the label?
  3. I see the record time is 3:25 on that test press, 4:06 on the F&E release. Is it 3:25 on the normal RCA release?
  4. Here you go Pete. Can't remember if there is any difference between this & the RCA release, will give it a play in the morning & see.
  5. Now we can see where they got the idea for the song from Bob ! Moved a few words around & added "Are you Angry". I wonder if the Servicemen heard the Sonics or Thee Midniters to give them the idea? Suppose we'll never know.
  6. Hello Harry, Here's a scan of The Magicians boot, & one of the original Servicemen. Also, "I need a helping hand" got booted on the plain 'orange' label, so beware. I dont have one at the moment so can't post up a scan. Cheers pottsy
  7. Hi Bob, I just tried playing them side by side. Because Thee Midniters version is so slow, plus they repeat lines, it's tricky to say if they are exactly the same. But, I think on T.M. version they miss out a few words, otherwise, it's the same lyrics. Interesting thing, the Servicemen credit (H.Murrell - J.Mitchell). Then on one copy I have of Thee Midniters it credits (Garcia - Espinoza) & on another label design it credits (Thee Midniters). Regards pottsy
  8. There's an interesting write up about the record on here Pete https://www.myspace.com/thebritishwalkers
  9. Blimey that's rare ! dont think I've ever seen a West Coast issue before I've seen the Johnny Sayles on West Coast though.
  10. THE CHIMES - THE BEGINNING OF MY LIFE - DOWN TO EARTH....but there are people playing this at the moment.
  11. I know I've told it on here before, but, yeh, now that was funny Mike........"Wonder how many of the big name d.j's will know the flip of Never Can Say Goodbye?"......"Don't know lets find out, shall we?"......"ok" oh look - here's an acetate of it....1st big dj "That's nice, how much?"..... 2nd big dj "what do you want for it?".....3rd dj says "I'm sure you owe me some money - give the fooker 'ere !" Only regret I have is not being there when someone went up to the decks & said to Rob T. "why are you playing the flipside to Never Can Say Goodbye?" must have sounded great sandwiched between the Appointments & the Young Bros.
  12. It's so we've got a bit of music while we look at the pictures mischief
  13. The red label west coast issue I had was pretty low on volume.
  14. Yes Ian, so did Martin Luther King, JR. & look where it got him Only pulling ya pecker, follow your heart mate....go for it !
  15. Just seen your post Nick spot on mate. Or your in the toilet only to hear "Do you realise you've been in there half an hour, dear?"...."IT'S A F*****G BIG LIST, DEAR !"
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if someone says they have a 'hot box', surely this is just another way of saying they don't have a collection? It would be like me going round a hot box dj's house & saying "would it be ok to look at your records, please?" & his reply would be "Yes, hang on a second I'll go & get them" as opposed to "Yes, you'll have to step this way" Just a thought.
  17. Sold a Mint one 10 days ago with the football players for £450, well I'm holding it on a deposit to be precise. I think the picture on the label is great. They certainly put some fine detail into it. Nice when you get an interesting looking label.
  18. Closed at $261 Better get one on ebay quick !
  19. Sure is Baz ! It has the same words as the 'My, My, My Baby' by the Voltaire's on the same label. Infact, there's another superb record you don't see about now days, used to be able to pick it up real cheap. What else is on the label never checked it out before ?
  20. .
  21. Hey James, Bet you're pleased Carl never accepted your offer on his now
  22. A fella lost his job over that U.K. copy of the Frankie & Johnny. 99.9% sure that was the copy I owned years ago with the tiny sticker tears at the top of the label. One morning I got a call from Ray at Beanos in Croydon (when they were in the old shop) to say they had just got some nice soul stuff in. I turned up there just as Ray was walking back into the shop. He'd left the new employee in charge of the counter, & had asked him to take the little stickers off the Frankie & Johnny label. Ray meant with lighter fluid, but matey dug his finger nail in & ripped em off. Ouch, sacked.
  23. huh huh huh
  24. Great stuff Bob ! Nice to know who the group members & lead singers were on 'When I'm with my baby' & 'Count the days'. Was a bit surprised at J.McKinneys reaction when you said to him about his most recent release Had someone forgot to mention it to him ?
  25. The flip on the Hog record, "Pray for me" is an incredible song. Rob, I would say in reply to you saying " I suspect they only took interest when it became rare on the UK soul scene", sorry mate that's bollox, it would be from the second they heard Pray For Me. Regards, pottsy
