  1. What makes you ask that Tony? Is it because the label colour is very similar to the Quick Change Artist second press? If yes, check out the KAREN letters, plus the distance between them.
  2. This is the west coast design (styrene)......
  3. Hello Tony, Sadly, the one you have in your picture is the re-issue that Pete refers too. They used the original stampers, hence the dead wax markings. (most likely done at the same time as the Luther Ingram re-issue) But I will say the sound quality on these are as good as the first press. £8 was still a bargain. Regards, Ady.
  4. Hello Jules, Is this attachment taken from the purple label? If yes, sounds exactly the same as the red label one. Is the purple styrene (as in the case of the red) or vinyl ?
  5. Think we may have to dig out that old rarer issue's & demo's thread again Roger !
  6. Or like comparing Netto's 99p chicken curry to a Raj Douth no 21 with 38 What's that filet minging like Ian ?
  7. oh blow it, didn't realise it was a 78rpm, been playing it at 45. But it does still sound a bit like that intro Ian, just a bit faster. That now explains why Georgie Porgie sounded a bit gruff
  8. Hello Reg, Wow, what can I say mate. That is the best read I've had in years ! If there is anyone looking in that hasn't read this book, well, all I can say is you've missed out. Go get yourself a copy quick. It will make you smile, laugh, & at times make you low, just like life it self. That's what this book is about, life, one that most of us can relate too. Would love to see it made into a play or a film. 10 out 10 Reg ! Regards, Ady.
  9. but the intro does sound like the start of Tubby the Tuba, , honest.
  10. Just noticed this on Johns auction. John, I think you'll find the "Monster Masters" are vinyl Ruby Jean - Empty Words - SBK Jeeze! The very first label! Near everyone has only ever seen this 45 on the styrene, "Monster Masters" label.......
  11. Gene, Gene, Gene, How many times must I say this to you, if it's not broke....don't fix it ! Re-mix it ? Yes ! but don't go thinking you can change the course of this wonderful scene of ours with dodgy Queen type records, or that other thingy. Please stay with what we know, you know it's the way to go. BAMba 3688. You know Tony Hatch was a master at work, infact he was with the KESTRELS on this one.

  13. Chris mate, you're only jealous because you've not got a Tubby Tuba...oh, hang on, or have you ?
  14. Oh my goodness, I don't believe it I honestly thought I was a collector living all alone in my own little closet ! And yet here am I, amongst like minded people. Especially you Mark...Charlie Drake, well well, who would have guessed it. I truly feel like I can at last come out of the closet, as I'm also a perver..erm collector. God bless, pottsy. ps do you by any chance wear shorts? white ones? errrm....rather tight ones? No, no no no. sorry, just take a gander below at my 7" Tubby Tuba......
  15. Hi Gareth, Only other record he had on the label (in quantity) was Cleo Page - Goodie Train Part 1/2. Also got some Joey Jefferson related stuff on 12", Sunlovers, plus some I can't remember (will have to look in the barn), California Billalion, etc. Just assumed it was a label that had a connection to Joey Has an LA address on it. Regards, Ady
  16. Not repressed or reissued. They all originated (the clean copies) from a guy that Tommy & I went round too in LA. He had all the old stock of them. Not in the best of areas, seem to remember saying to Tommy keep the engine running while I do the deal Great funk record. I have a couple left if anyone is interested.
  17. .
  18. huh huh huh
  19. Ah, gotcha. Did it sound good loud? Would love to hear how it sounds in a big hall, got a feeling it could be good.
  20. Hi John, Like you say, the "Good By my Love" side is a good up tempo sound, I think it's great. It has an interesting echo sound effect to it. The only down side to it is it's a real small budget label/recording, very low-fi, so expect to turn the volume up when you play it out. Have you got one? or looking for one?
  21. It never ceases to amaze me how these things ever managed to survive, like you say John fella wasn't concentrating, so lucky he never chucked it when he realised. Mind you, it does make you then wonder how many unreleased acetates did get chucked back at that time, bet there's been some great music lost for ever because of this. Interesting thread, I like this kind of stuff
