  1. Superb idea Paul & Toad ! Definitly put me down for one
  2. Like you say Ady, this is intriguing. I was looking at this same thing a few years ago as I collected the label. The matrix numbers on the vinyl are exactly the same as on the label. I came to the conclusion this was a date system because on one of the other releases it got pressed down at Monarch, they kindly put a delta in of 52064 on the styrene, & 33064 on the label. Both numbers making it March 1964. Interesting point now is, on the ROCK 45, with the same backing as Mel Williams - Can It Be Me, the date on the label is Feb 1965. Must try & find out the date of "Can It Be Me". Regards, A very sad label collector Pottsy
  3. No. I think you'll find he's Al Wilsons brother (Eddie).
  4. I've not fell out with him at all Pete, infact I quite like him I find some of his posts very interesting & informative. Same goes for Ian Levine, I've always found him to be very interesting when we've had conversations. I think it's great when you see someone do something with a passion. I'll give Ian that, when ever he does something, be it collect records, comics, Dr Who related items, make records, he puts 100% in to it. But, we'll always argue, because unless I agree with him on everything, all the time, 100%, he gets in a tizzy & has a tantrum I like to see people that have 'character', you know, that something that makes them interesting. Doesn't matter if you agree with them or not, but you listen to them because they have character, if you get my drift.
  5. I do too gogs. I honestly hope Ian sells a mountain of them after all the work he's put in, infact I may buy one to give it to someone for Christmas. But like I've said, for my own personal reasons I wont watch it.
  6. Like I said in an earlier posting, I dont know you, so I reacted to your posting as I read it. Which was : "Sorry Pete, I honestly didn't realise you were living in a box. It just goes to show how bad this economic crisis really is. And I hope it's a nice warm box because winter is approaching" From what I can see I would guess the fella is well aware of the economic crisis, with a young family & all the hardships that go with it. Read somewhere else about his car dropping dead on him? Also said something about his partner's expecting? (appologies if I'm wrong). OK, so I read your joke wrong, so what.
  7. Sure is Steve. I remember the week I got the chance of buying the Royal Esquires, same day as I had the chance of a Johnny Rodgers. Could only afford one, so said to my self that the Royal Esquires would never ever turn up, not in a million years, so even though it was near on double the price of the J.Rodgers, I went for it Same with Danny Moore, etc. etc. All part of the fun !
  8. Ah Beaver, do you remember when you sold me a Ska record that was cracked? You said you'd make things right with me, then proceeded to ignore my pm's & emails?
  9. ......or the odd car chase perhaps? Not like in Bullet, obviously, more like Ian being chased by big Gav down Ealing Broadway, kinda chase ?
  10. I don't know Paul, I can only go by what I read on here : "Sorry Pete, I honestly didn't realise you were living in a box. It just goes to show how bad this economic crisis really is. And I hope it's a nice warm box because winter is approaching" Also, please don't post up someone elses name (that I do know) that has nothing to do with what we are talking about. pottsy
  11. Ah gotcha Ian, thanks. I'll buy a copy of the 45 then, & put the copy of the dvd on hold for now. Would like both, but finances are a bit slim at the moment Regards, pottsy
  12. Well there's another 2 Detroit records (Ke Ke's) that "were" super rare. You can see the problem that Brad has, he's governed by what the person tells him that is releasing the records to him. He can only relay what he is told. I've talked to him many times, & like what has already been said on here, always found him to be a very honest & sincere chap. With super rare records, it makes me sometimes wonder if all the 'stock' of what was pressed is sat on a shelf somewhere, minus the copies that went to the singer, group, mum, dad, aunty, local dj, etc. But I must say, those stone cold Mint Lesters sure look pretty. pottsy
  13. Erm, hang on a minute Ian. I thought this thread was meant to be about you? "Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons - Part Two, Continuing on from the Sixty Pages in Part One" Is this not the title of your thread? Now I'm confused. I think the new part of the thread about Ian Dewhirst & the Cafe Regio thing is very interesting, unlike some of Paul Mooneys arrogant (but let me just get my name on this thread one more time) posts. But now the thread has got me completely confused. Is the Cafe Regio your thing or the other Ians, ah hang on, or are you becoming one & the same? Kind of, one big Ian....& a Paul Mooney? Now I dont know what to buy, I have just enough for your dvd but now I want a Cafe Regio Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, decisions, decisions. Yours, A very worried & confused pottsy.
  14. Paul, For an intelligent fella, you don't half talk some bollox at times
  15. Yeh, something called Cafe Regio's !!
  16. Why dont you just make the man an offer ! oh..... perhaps you just did
  17. I'd say it was as rare as Lester Tipton, just not as good. Same label as La Wanda Williams. Remember seeing the Melvin Davis many years ago at Victoria record fair, only copy I've ever seen. The one with the link to it looks in nice condition. pottsy
  18. When you mentioned Pete's name & a rare record, insatntly makes me think of a major label, black issue. Shocked when he posted a picture of it. Am I right Pete?
  19. The thing is with these records is when they change hands it makes it harder to work out how many there are. At the end of the day, we're only looking after them for the next person. I would say the flip side "I want to be free" has still got some mileage left in it. "You left me" has been a bit over played ?
  20. Hi Dave, Think Ted said the other day, on another thread, that he has it as the Aspirations.
  21. Ah, that's just reminded me Roger, keep meaning to ask if anyone knows what the score was with this release?
  22. Hello Bill, By chance, Tues & Wed is the £7.95 "Gourmet Night" at the Paprika Indian in Nightingale Rd. opposite the now closed down Orchard & Anvil pub (used to be called the Woolpack). Superb value for money, infact I always have to take half of it home as there's so much Hope this helps ! pottsy
