Tommy Is This For Real
Hi John, You do know Tommy, but probably dont realise. He used to help me on my table at the record fair in Norwich, when he was a youngster. Him & Perry used to sit behind the table having deals on semi knowns when he was about 9 years old Hope you've still got all that good ska stuff I used to sell you. Cheers Ady

Tommy Is This For Real
Hello Kegsy ! Only just noticed this thread. Hope you're keeping ok mate ! I remember the journey I made up north on the train to do the deal with you on the Bernie Williams very well I had the flu & the temperature was about minus 3 as I stood there on Bradford (?) train station, with Bernie frozen to my right hand. We did the deal in "Pat (me? i'm as fit as a flea on a butchers dog) Bradys" boxing club Tommy is my son, he lives in California, full time (ha! yeh right) record dealer. Regards, Ady

Flirtations On Ebay
Hi Tony, Delta number on the boot is a 100 number & the original west coast starts with a 64 number. East coast vinyl is a louder press.

Any Idea Of Value Please
For a mint copy I'd say about £100 ? seen for more, but wouldn't have thought it sold.

Flash Mckinley
This is the problem Marc, I know of several big ticket records sitting with different dealers out in the states that they have quantity on, but they won't let on how many copies they have. Mind you, you can't blame them I suppose.

Background Noise
Hello Mick, The answer to that question is, it depends on the vinyl quality used. There were a lot of small pressing plants that used poor quality vinyl, these records will have light background noise from new. There is nothing that can be done about this. Some very rare records, for obvious reasons, were pressed on this type of vinyl. A major company, for example RCA, used the best quality vinyl. These will have no background noise. Styrene was a budget material used, example Shrine label, that produced a very clear sound reproduction when new. However, just one play on a faulty stylus will tear the groove, thus producing hiss. Also too many plays will eventually cause wear & produce a distorted sound. If you have a particular 45 that comes to mind just pm me & I may be able to tell you if it was a record that was produced with noisy vinyl. Regards, pottsy

Tonight's Manship Auction Results - 29 Oct
Blimey, I've sold about 4 UK copies, think the most I've ever got was about £75. The last one I put in the sales box was just over a hundred quid with no takers.

"Ron Keith - Gotta Go By What You Tell Me - A&M - £458" Didn't see the copy on Johns auction, was it a U.S. one? So if this was a U.S. copy, how much is the U.K. one?

Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
But Ian, you are posting this statement on soulsource, & 'soulsource' IS all about the 'scene'. It's a scene that is full of all different types of people, from all types of walk of life. You'll never be able to change peoples minds & beliefs, you know that. Surely it's better to accept it for how it is. I know you've invested a huge sum of money in this dvd venture, plus a mountain of hours. But at the end of the day, that was your choice. Now you're looking to recoup your outlay, you are obviously under pressure to do so, the result being all this pent-up HATE that you are displaying. Carry on like this & you'll make yourself ill. Look, if your product is as good as you imply it is, then it will sell, end of story. But you must face facts it wont be everyones cup of tea, & the sooner you come to terms with that the better. Stop going off on one if someone doesn't turn round & complement it. But when you come out with a line such as "I love Northern Soul music but I phucking HATE the scene", well, think about it, what does that sound like to all us lot reading it. Will it be a case of when you've recouped your 80k, or however much it is, that you'll just walk away yet again? I honestly hope not, because you were an important part of this 'scene'. But somehow, hand on heart, I think you will. Be happy, pottsy

Constellations - I Didn't Know How To
Thats right Tony, I've seen 'Easy to be hard' on white demo, but never with the B side. Are you saying your mates copy was a white demo & had the 'I don't know about you' side on it?

What's This Worth? Al Williams I Am Nothing Palmer W/d
That's right Tony, they were pressed from different plates. Sound wise it's like Smudge says, the Palmer release is a better sound, especially over a loud sound system. With La Beat the sound quality seems to have been a bit of a problem, Lester Tipton, also Masqueraders - How, with the 'How' you don't notice it at home but when you play it on a big system you have to take the volume up & trim the mid range a bit. All part of the charm of the label I guess
