  1. Now that was a good night. Very busy, with a crowd that really wanted to party. Loads of requests for classics, so decided to go down that route. Big thankyou to Steve for asking me to play a few records, great fun. Did 9.30 to 10.00, then double decked with Hammie 11.30 to well past 1.00 Like I said, mostly good ol' classics from me, along the lines of...... Archie Bell - Here I go again - Atlantic Betty Wilson - I'm yours - Dayco Bobby Hebb - Love, Love, Love - Philips Bobby Valentin - Use it before you lose it - Fania Buster & Eddie - Can't be still - Class Dewey Black - Takin love where I find it - Reeflair Epitome of sound - You dont love me - Sandbag Furys - I'm satisfied with you - Keymen Harold Melvin - Get out - French Vogue Ike & Tina Turner - Strange - Sonja Jeff Perry - Love dont come no stronger - Arista Marvin Gaye - Little darling - Tamla Miracles - Whole lot of shakin in my heart - Tamla. Superb record !! Prophets - I got the fever - Smash World Column - So is the sun - Tower Younghearts - Little togetherness - Canterbury Yvonne Baker - You didn't say a word - Parkway
  2. Anglo American had one last month for £350
  3. Yes, looked in real nice condition as well : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Northern-Soul-45-Gia-Mateo-RCA-ISSUE-/230683022690?pt=UK_Records&hash=item35b5c79562
  4. Hi Kev, Was he asking because of this ? same record sold first in U.S. then 11 days later in Birmingham, hmmmm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LITTLE-WILLIE-FAULK-LOOK-INTO-MY-HEART-M-H-2917-45-/110739183253?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item19c891d695 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LITTLE-WILLIE-FAULK-M-AND-H-2917-LOOK-INTO-MY-HEART-RARE-EP-RECORD-/320760095605?pt=UK_Records&hash=item4aaecaa375 Regards, pottsy
  5. How much would a mint original of this be worth now ?
  6. The Album "EASTSIDE REVUE - Volume 2" that is mentioned on the flip of the David & Ruben on Rampart came with a 24" x 30" poster, does anyone on here have this poster ? Anyone know what's on it ?
  7. Why on earth would the seller think that Richard is some 'chancer' ? Granted, I don't know the fella, I've not seen his feedback on ebay, but unless you know different I can't understand why you have said this ?
  8. I was talking about the customs duty, not the record cost. It doesn't hurt to ask the seller, does it ? Richard has said "I am planning to contact the seller....." so obviously the seller doesn't even realise that Richard has had to pay this fee. But you are a record seller, I've bought off you in the past.
  9. Some years ago I got hit for something like £175 duties/vat/handling fee on a record, we contacted the seller to let her know. She replied "Just enjoy the record". I will say, I'm glad I didn't risk refusing to pay the fee & have the record sent back, because years have passed & the value of the record has gone up so much from the original purchase price. So I'd personally just grit my teeth & pay it. But there's nothing then stopping you from contacting the seller & see if they'd perhaps give you a bit of a refund to help towards it. Good luck ! pottsy
  10. But can you call them the same take John ? the Warners doesn't have the whopping great horn intro on it. An interesting point you have raised, I didn't realise the Linda & Rampart releases were different mixes ? I only have a Rampart demo at the moment, so I don't have a Linda copy to play side by side to compare. I just followed the link that moldie has posted to another thread & someone has said they were pressed from the same stampers ?
  11. It's when they pressed it on Warner Bros. that they left off the intro. Rather surprised John Manship has listed it on his auction as the 1st label? I think he'll find he's wrong there, Linda came out first, off the top of my head 1964 ish, the Rampart was 1969. If he flips it over he'll see it says Taken from the album 'Eastside Revue-Volume 2', this L.P. came out in 1969
  12. Lesson of this thread ? There's a very professionaly run soul event calendar here on soul source, lets use it. Right, I'm out of here. Regards, pottsy
  13. You didn't have a venue for your event on the date you say you put in your calendar?
  14. But chrissie, you didn't book Esquires until you had been to Hammie & Geoff's event there. The first event they did there was in December.
  15. Just because some people don't come on here & shout about what they do for charitable causes does not mean that they do nothing for charity, you don't have a clue fella. We have all suffered personal family or friend loss, or both, this usually reflects in where charitable givings are directed. So don't you dare question where I direct my charitable gestures towards, thin ice comes to mind.
  16. Ah, ok steve, lets sweep the business of this date clashing with Stewartby under the carpet & start talking about charity. So what would be talking about if all the big name dj's at Esquires had pulled in a large crowd & Stewartby ended up with 20 or 30 people through the doors ?
  17. So why email out the 2011 calendar with a 2010 date on it ?
  18. No chrissie, it's not. If you look at your post of 26th May 2010 at 10:53am (link is above) you state in that post : "Time to start getting the dates in the calendar for 2011!!!" Under that line you have posted the calendar with the date of 29th August.
  19. What on earth are you talking about ? Of course it's an events calendar. You call it a "calendar", you call yourself the "Calendar Girl"
  20. Soul source is the place all promoters check when booking their dates. To have other independent event calendars running along side this is counter productive & is a recipe for a date clash, as has been proved in this case. Why on earth do we need two calendars ?
  21. So you are saying that because I had not contacted you to put Stewartby on your calendar, that on 6th March when you looked on the soul source calendar you chose to ignore the fact that Stewartby was on there, and had been on there for 4 months ! So you just went ahead without saying anything ? hmmmm I think there's more to this than meets the eye.
  22. If you hadn't made it clear in your mail out that the date had been amended why would I bother to open any further 'pdf files' with your calendar on ? So the facts are, you sent out the calendar for 2011 with your date on as 29th August 2011. You then posted your event in the soul source calendar on 6th March 2011 with your date having been changed to the 3rd September. At that point you would have seen that Stewartby had been on that calendar since 16th November 2010. These are facts. As extra proof to the above, please look at chriisies posts of 27th April 2010 & 26th May 2010. You even posted your calendar on soul source with your date as being 29th August.
  23. Chrissie, I've just checked back & found your calender that you sent out with your date on for 2011. You sent this out in May 2010. As can clearly be seen you were going to put on your event on 29th August 2011, not 3rd September. This is the calendar I printed out & worked around. Dates 2010.pdf
