It is about demand isn't it
Like most people who have commented I got my copy of Rita and The Tiaras when thing were a lot less expensive..250 or so.
I also had Milton James but swapped it for Walter and The Admirations
With reference to price..I can see Rita making as much in todays market as Milton James....down to the number of people chasing it
Thing is with records like Johnny Praye ..just using this as an example..they are indeed rare records..not many people have them..so when the likes of Butch who plays upfront drops them from the playlist there aren't that many who are capable of playing them...cos the haven't got them..they do come around again..just need to look at some of the records played at Stafford for example..
With reference the Bettye Swann c/up..it.s ok..but doesnt really do it for me...personal taste
A few Stone Blue copies have surfaced...5 or so years ago would have said they were rarer..dont think there is much in it now...whichever way the cookie crumbles its rare
Played it out at Easington in the "small room" on Saturday night...sounded great still.
Agree with you Mick..like yourself...Timi Yuro 150...Rita and The Tiaras...250
Not any more
As you say collecting these items is more international than ever...supply and demand
I do as well Mick...I got the Acetate off Rob some years ago..played it out at The Wilton one night..guess what...cleared the floor with it.
Just goes to show
Or better still...a small live wire to the mains ,,connected to the DJ...could link it to the weight on the dance floor,,,lets say 500kg before it goes off....bit like that film "Speed"
Now this is a tricky one...seeing your post reminded me...remember two or three years ago playing Matthew Barnett in the Rare Room at Brid...packed floor...someone else played it..same room, same crowd the following night..emptied the floor..explain that one????????
To me it certainly looks like a Kosher Bell Acetate
Just the time the track was laid down
As Ady says..to be able to track the provenance back is the only way to know
Can the original seller (U.S) shed light on this
Was looking at that item myself and trying to figure out if Scepter/Wand would have used Bell at the date of the Walter Wilson record...above comments are helpful
Fantastic night
Fabulous company and hospitality
As for the music quality...the playlists say it all...
In reply to Paul S....yep love to come back to play a few tunes...just let me know
Be back soon...
