  1. What about Sad Souvenirs by the Isley Brothers
  2. Don't tip them, to this day regret tipping just about every blues and soul from sometime in 72 to approx late 80s. VFTS stored safely.
  3. True but v little matches BofB
  4. Some crackers there.
  5. Starting to watch the West Wing again and it stands the test of time pretty well, given the cast. I cant help but wonder if Jed Bartlett stood as an independent now, if he would beat the 2 old codgers who are likely to be gong head to head again.
  6. Totally agree re Harry/I Can Understand It still got the same copy which plays good. Harry was slso one of his best live
  7. I've got a headache trying to decide!! I'll go with a group first. Four Tops - first song that made me sit up. Baby I Need Your Loving
  8. Totally agree a grey watch.
  9. And one to our better halves everywhere
  10. One for the wife.
  11. This works for more and a decent tune.
  12. Mayor of Kingston very good series.
  13. 10-63 You And Me
  14. How about 2 songs each. One to dance the new year in and another a hope for 2024. Sandra Wright - Midnight Affair Marvin Gaye - Save The Children
  15. A very good watch, a mix of sounds, some good some awful, but some interesting characters. As has been said one of the best docs on the subject. Would love to see someone release a best of Soul Train series with interviews alongside some of the lesser known acts/tracks
  16. If I had 150,000K to spare I could buy 1,000 £50 singles or LPs and a new car and have £50k left for a new holiday. Why would anyone dream of spending that much on one single even if they do rate it? Madness IMHO
  17. Xmas treat will be watching Band of Brothers again
  18. 1893 easily the best. For me one of, if not the, best series shows ever. Reacher very good, it is much better than the films they made. Far more like the books.
  19. Not as good as the film and he next series not as good IMHO
  20. Can't stand the stuff, Hampshire hog here, though living across the border in Surrey. The wife was born in Lincoln, then moved to Lancs when a bairn, ending up in Surrey late teens and she loves the stuff.
  21. Eula Cooper - Let Our Love Grow Higher
  22. Thanks for posting these Karl, like others I did not get these, but Voices from no 4, was my reading of choice, then went back to 1-3. Rod was in my opinion, the best writer re Soul after Dave Godin, even if he sometimes sold me a dummy when I bought new releases blind. But so many others are still prized possessions. I didn't see Sam Dee's at Thorne, but did catch him at the Jazz Cafe which is my favourite concert ever, for which I am ever grateful to Rod for bringing him over.
  23. An interesting read to what is for me a non subject. Personally never interested in anything like this. For me just splits up what may have been a good/great night/day. Who won, who cares
  24. I imagine, it's the same as every other area of modern life, its easy to pick your phone up and follow the crowd. No different to filming concerts, sports events etc. Not something I ever do, but plenty do, for me it spoils the moment.
  25. R.I.P Rudolph one third of one of the truly great Soul Groups, so many classics.
