Looking to get more Guest DJs from the local area to play at this fairly new event in Preston Lancashire. As its my newly adopted city having moved from Manchester it would be good to hear from DJs from the local scene who might be interested. Regular dates have been confirmed for this event up to December 2009 and the night is dedicated to Northern Soul Classics and the Motown label in a great little venue which holds around 200 with good dance floor and other facilities. I have the UK Stateside copy too and it sounds far better recorded than the others having had em all over the years. if you can pick one up for 35 quid good luck to you, you will easily get a minimum of 70 quid for it even on ebay. I have a copy of Sinner not a saint by Denny Paul too which is good for a change.

Hi All We are looking to hear from some different faces this month at the next Vertigo event in Manchester. As most of you know the night features guest spots from many different DJs each month. Music policy covers 1960s R'n'B, early Norhtern soul, Blues and Ska. No CDs just 100% vinyl and though most of the residents do not play pressings we wont begrudge any budding DJs with a passion for the music but not the collections. DJ sets are roughly 30mins long so just time to dive in and have fun then listen to someone elses stuff. The night has a very mixed crowd and regularly pulls in between 300-600 people, Mods, Skinheads, no marks, students, Northern soulies. VERTIGO is a social event for DJs and likeminded people, entrance is free to encourage all to try and attend. This months VERTIGO will be held on FRIDAY 28th MARCH and if you want to DJ or get involved we would really like to hear from you as soon as possible so we can get you on the posters about to go to print. VERTIGO is expanding... Our VERTIGO club night in Manchester this month is expanding over another floor for a bigger event on the last Friday of the month starting on Friday 28th Sept. The second floor will concentrate on Mod influence, 2 tone and classic soul sounds and I am looking for more people who fancy coming and playing a set. VERTIGO in the main room has lots of DJs playing 30 min sets of their favorite records from Early Northern to R'n'B, British beat to Ska. It's a great social night out for DJs and punters and we hope to make it even better with the second floor. The whole event will also be FREE entry from 9pm-3am. Afraid there won't be much cash involved as it will be a free event but if you are interested in a DJ set on either floor but especially in the new room (my collection doesn't go much past 1970!)please give me a call or drop me a line right away, we go to print very soon! MOD POP CAFE, MANCHESTER We took over the old "Cafe Pop" on Oldham St in Manchester a year ago and its become a hangout for plenty of faces on the Soul, Mod & Scotter scenes. The Cafe is full of 50s & 60s stuff for sale and is open all week from 10am-5pm Mon to Sat & 11am 4pm Sundays. We serve great fresh ground coffee without charging an arm and a leg, food is homemade and local sourced and we even have DJs on from time to time.
