    ============= Not sure you're right there 'Catface'. If everyone went to classes, northern dancing would be very uniform, and it's anything but that. Winnie:-) P.S. That's not to say don't go to classes, everyone should do as they wish, but classes don't make you feel the music, and that's paramount when dancing IMO.

    Whilst grazing on another thread, I felt the need to explore what commercial soul sounds (loosely speaking) you/me would be happy to admit to liking to. For instance, I like "You can do magic" "I'm doin fine now" Own up remember confession is good for the SOUL!! Winnie:-)

    ========= It's been over a week now, please tell us the answers :-) I really can't understand the motive of the post. If we take it as read everybody on SS likes soul, does it matter what tempo they prefer? Within your own collection do you favour soul/ballads over 'stompers'? If so would that make you any less of a fan of soul music? Why do you have to differentiate, tempo doesn't govern soul content, but it does have more of a bearing on northern, because, it's supposed to be danceable. Winnie;)

    ========= Hmmm the logical next step is that if this new blood laughs at the way someone dances, which I've witnessed a few times, then the dancer in question should hang up his/her shoes for fear of frightening away the youngsters. Winnie:-)

    ========== As Janine said there aren't a proliferation of soulies wearing bags, vests etc, but there are some. All this thread will do is make them self consious about going out, and whether they are being laughed at. I would like to re-iterate, this scene has always been about acceptance providing the music is being appreciated, if youngsters are coming along and doing as Baz said, then they're IMO not welcome, because they obviously don't understand the cameraderie.
