  1. ========== Thanks Karen, thought she was from Wisbech area. She floats effortlessly round the dance floor and is a joy to watch :-) Winnie:-)
  2. ============ Why has no one named the thief, would there be legal implications in doing so? Winnie:-)
  3. ============ If they're aware now that they were stolen give them back to the rightful owner, and persue the loss of their money through the legal system. If that's not possible, there are other forms of justice (not that I'm advocating anything). Overall the said recipients of stolen records will have to accept they've lost out in some way or another. Just my opinion. Winnie:-)
  4. ============ Yep great dancer
  5. ============ Personally don't think it's down to fitness, I think in general girls are more expressive, and not bound by a set of rules which tend to govern most of the guys, when it comes to dancing. Winnie:-)
  6. ====== Saw Debs and Andy at lifeline end of last year. Yep she's good and so is Mandy mick H's mrs. Agree Trifle can move, as can Karen B. It's a different Carol Steve, she won a competition at the Plinston a couple of years ago. Short blond hair. Great feet and spins like a top. Am almost certain she's from the cambridge/Lincs area. Winnie:-) PS. They're all great dancers .........Ken you dance like a girl, so you're great too
  7. ========= Caz McCarthy, Chantelle, and Anne from Bedford, Soul Annie, Carol can't remember where she's from (Wisbech?), Emma and Dru from Surrey, Suzi from Scotland, all brilliant. Have always believed girls in general are better dancers than men, take out the acrobatics, and they win hands down IMO. Winnie:-)
  8. ========== The Nicholas brothers were absolutely fantastic I'm sure I read somewhere or other that the style of dancing evolved from chain gangs. Something about them competing against each other whilst standing on rails (railway lines) seeing who could outdo who. Anybody confirm? Or was it all just a dream? Winnie:-)
  9. ========== Hope things get sorted out Mark, the scene isn't everything, and certainly when compared to the family it's insignificant. As mentioned by others, when you get back nothing will have changed. Good luck!! Winnie:-)
  10. ========== I can understand anybody wanting to go home happy from a soul night, it's the whole point for me, but not to know for instance that Mick has Margaret Little (I take it he does still have it) seems a little off the wall to me. Am I correct in thinking you're more referring to soulies who don't go out week after week, and what they enjoy musically? In which case they may not be worried if it's Mick playing or anybody else for that matter, as their priority would be enjoyment (Nothing wrong with that IMO by the way) Winnie;-)
  11. =========== Thanks for replying Steve, now I understand where you were coming from Do you not think though, if a person is aware who a big name DJ is, generally they also know that they have rarities as well. Winnie:-)
  12. So what do you think? Modern technology is it a help or a hindrance within the scene. Bearing in mind we are forever arguing about newies versus oldies, this venue or that venue, recently the downloading of sounds from various sites, are we creating or enhancing a split within our community. Do the positives outweigh the negatives. I enjoy debate, I enjoy knowing what's on, I enjoy knowing what SSr's I might get to meet at different venues but most of all I enjoy enjoying myself. I don't enjoy rude or divisive posts or opinions that leave no room for manouvre, I don't enjoy difinitive posts because they never are, but they're often written as such. In yesteryear this wouldn't have happened, ok we may have gone somewhere and not enjoyed every record played, but as long as we enjoyed part of the night we'd have been satisfied. The net IMO has changed that, because we are constantly reminded from various quarters what is and isn't the right direction, be that oldies or newies. Overall whilst it's a fantastic communication medium, is/has the internet been more trouble than it's worth to the soul scene? I must point out that I recognise without Mike's and others sites on the internet I wouldn't have a platform to ask this question or many others, so this is in no way an attack on SS, it's more a question of has it become easier to divide us through the internet. Please put my mind at rest I need to be able to sleep again Winnie:-)
  13. ============= Aren't you the least bit interested in what the original question meant though? What it looks like to me is someone loading a gun, and then sitting back whilst it gets fired. I'd like to know just what Steve Z's thoughts are, on his own question. Winnie:-)
  14. ========== Jesus may forgive, not sure the same can be said of us as a species......but lovely sentiment
  15. =========== Isn't it said he forgives everything and turns the other cheek? So basically we can say what we like and then he'll explain where we went wrong, and say "Don't worry I haven't taken offence, you're only human after all". He would have to be big hearted anyway to forgive the R&B played on the scene
  16. ============== Yeah I'd have a few questions and theories to put to him as well, but I'd best not air them on here, don't fancy being hit over the head by Charlton Heston with the ten commandments Winnie:-)
  17. ============= Have you been reading Dante's Inferno again?
  18. ========== Not sure he'd sit comfortably with anything to do with X over, too many memories. If he were playing to the 5000 suppose he may have 2 CDs and 5 originals. The one I wonder about? Would he change water into wh*zz Winnie:-)
  19. ================= Stevie, And this isn't a dig at you in any way, SS is constantly attracting new members who may not have taken part in previous discussions on any given topic, so personally I don't mind going over old ground, because it often contains fresh takes/views that certainly maintain my interest. Winnie:-)
  20. ============= Maybe we have to look at this from another perspective, these days DJ's are prepared to travel, guesting up and down the country, so the pilgrimages up North to see a top line DJ are no longer required. I can regularly see DJs I like such as, Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn, Butch, Kenny Burrell (to name just some) at venues close to me. I still travel to a degree, but the need to do it every week isn't there, because they're doing the travelling instead Winnie:-)
  21. ========== You'd have to define rank and file Col, which might make this a very tasty thread Winnie :-)
  22. ========== Forgot about this track, absolutely brilliant and incredibly moving Winnie:-)
  23. Love don't live here any more Killing me softly
  24. ============ Yep love I'm doin fine now. also Remember me (D.Ross) and did Stay with me baby (L. Ellison) chart, gives me the shivers, same with woman to woman Winnie:-)
