  1. I should know this, but it's escaping me, what's the track name, it starts with the words ''sugar lips''. TIA
  2. Stevie, just for clarification, are you asking if there are areas in the country/world where northern isn't played, or are you asking are there areas where they only play the same style (top 500) records all the time?
  3. great tune, killer to dance to innit
  4. everythings a bit pacey when you've been on the cypress hill fags
  5. Time - Edwin Starr who who song - Jackie Wilson That's the way - the Q
  6. Not seen this before excellent
  7. not for me, the voices don't complement each eath other at all, plus they're out of synch........... soz
  8. I like this, forgive my ignorance though was it made prior to the temps taking this direction or after?
  9. It was ok, bit too clean for me, maybe it's a grower?
  10. Does anybody know when it's going to be aired, or have I missed that within the thread? Winnie
  11. The fife piper has a nice peruvian influence going on
  12. I would think this may well be on the BBC I Player as well, just another possible way of watching it (that's if it is on there)
  13. I liked it as well, some of us could still dance to a track that long...............
  14. I think you take brilliant photographs Karen, and I'm not sucking up, you just do, loads of people like to see them, yours and anybody elses, what's that quote about posterity............
  15. I'm sure it's about talc, it's mentioned in nearly every post Always hated talc as I said earlier, never needed it, although nowadays I'm creaking a bit so next time I go out I might
  16. It should do, but there are always some who like to do our defining for us................
  17. It's been coming up for years Karen, as I'm sure you're aware, have never quite understood the mentality myself, what difference does the way people dress make??
  18. I always used to put water down Karen, I have good shoes so had to slow the floor down, I think the party goer was one of my sisters so it didn't count
  19. I considered myself a dancer, and I never used it, as somebody mentioned decent shoes helped. remember going to Bretby and a girl offering me furniture polish for the bottom of my shoes. For a short while in the 7Ts I had a pair of shoes with like a felt bottom, but the soles were so thin you couldn't walk outside in them, stone went straight through them, reverted back to the solatios after that
  20. Did Giles Brandreth go? they could dress him up in some high waisters, vest, give him a holdall, can't help but have a horrible feeling about this............with all the NHS cuts, you might not get that hip replacement
  21. Maybe we're doing it a dis-service, it is for the ''one show''................
  22. Brilliant, as others have said, I don't find it funky as such and don't really understand how it's getting categorised as funk? When I was younger I used to go to the Calais in Dunstable, on occasion I'd venture into the Devils Den, whilst I never stayed long, my underlying memory is track after track in a James Brown style being played, so I guess I started seeing that as funk, this thread is helping redefine my thoughts, but still moving me toward thinking of it all as soul music.
  23. Liked these as well, don't understand this when I was younger I had no time for funk in general, although the stuff I heard was a lot harder edged, this is almost like having a new definition for crossover. I guess open mindedness is the key
  24. Dont be bound by convention, that's my motto.............. unless it suits me :D
  25. I pretty much liked everything I heard so agree mainly with Carms comments, apart from track 11 (don't push me away), I thought that was sensational, some of those tracks just make me think why do we have a genre specific scene called northern, whats wrong with just a scene. Winnie
