  1. Does it really matter one way or the other...........enjoy whatever you enjoy as you see fit, then everybody's happy
  2. Good point Danny
  3. Whilst I'm not a lover of talc, I'd never advocate people should stop dancing, it's not a big enough issue for such drastic action, just look at it as we're grumpy old men with nothing better to moan about at the moment
  4. I tried the silicon spray somewhere, I think it was Bretby, absolutely lethal, loved the comment you made to ''stick to the subject'' very funny
  5. They're talc-in about me Johnny Bragg........why can't we talc it over Larry Allen.......I got the powder Joanne Courcey
  6. Another thing that has to be considered, when we have topics on the number of soul nights, how many actual contributors take part? Even if you say a 100, which is generous, it's hardly a majority of the scene seeing it as a problem?
  7. Chris, not for me mate, soul source is more about information than being a northern soul policy think tank, could have an adverse effect on the site?
  8. I used to have a pair of shoes with felt on the soles, on the plus side talc wasn't needed, on the minus, even standing up was dangerous
  9. I love Cory Clover - little girl, Almeta Latimore - these memories Jimmy Cobb - Nobody else can hear Channel 3 - the sweetest thing Otis Clay - you hurt me girl for the last time Just can't speak - Jimmy bo Horn
  10. classic line, well played sir
  11. will be doing my best to get along to this
  12. there's a scene in the 'Wooden Horse' that might provide an answer, they get rid of the soil via holes in their pockets
  13. I'm very well thanks Russ I think there needs to be some context with the bowl of water. I used to dance right at the back, near the pillar all on my own, so nobody else was affected by the water
  14. I've never moaned about people who put it down and then proceed to dance, it's the ones who put it down, work it into the floor, walk about for a minute and then don't bother again for the rest of the night
  15. is that from the gospel according to Art Freeman Si
  16. Couldn't agree more, leather soles, leather heels, you'll never need talc again. I think a lot of people use it cos it's in the 'how to dance northern' pamphlet
  17. What would stop me attending? Probably a poor venue, I like a decent size dance floor, preferably wood, I don't like over zealous security, seen and not heard suits me. Would prefer it not to be a town centre job ie: nightclub as they've normally already got their own client¨le with fairly fixed ideas, so might lead to an atmosphere? What would make me attend? Decent music policy, although I love oldies, if I'm making the effort I'd expect the DJs to as well, so I'd want something a bit different. I'd like a fair bit of modern played and some of the funkier stuff. Easy parking, I'm very lazy. Size wise, 300/400 I'd like it to be off the beaten track, not to the extreme of Bretby, more like Sheridans DJs, if it had Sam, Arthur, Dave Thorley and Dave Abbott on I'd immediately be interested and stands to reason if you have that calibre DJ on, the accompanying ones would be of a similar standard. Timescale: Quarterly Yeah that would work for me
  18. cheers, I'll have a think
  19. Is this thread exclusively for southern soulies Russ, although I don't travel any more, there's nothing to say I won't again in the future. Just asking
  20. The link should be saved for posteriority
  21. Made me smile, but if she's dancing to that particular record, she was out of time
  22. A brilliant post in amongst most of our usual bickering efforts appreciated  Hope you're search goes well Mick
  23. Everybody's born........
  24. How do we/you know when the end has been reached Si?
  25. The title of the thread just says IL's productions, so then it becomes a debate thread? Besides, very few negative comments that I've seen, and those that have been have all been reasonably polite rebukes?
