  1. I think that's why a part 2, focusing on what's happening now would have been appropriate, giving the impression it's current (which it is) is equally as important as the nostalgia
  2. I dunno Rob, didn't they try to start something else up which didn't take off and then sort of drifted away from the scene?
  3. I loved it as a venue, dance floor used to get a bit dicey at times. The first lifelines, think Bickers did a nighter there as well. I thought the original owners at the time of the nighters left, and new Asian ones took over, and they made life difficult for Rods and Chrissy?
  4. The comment is in reference to what Louis Walsh said on the X factor, ie: a comment saying Berry Gordy is dead
  5. It was Louis Walsh, no one takes him seriously though, do they?
  6. Kev, I thought Jock's point about 'having little to do with the scene anymore' was relevant to the topic, to me he was just saying we've all become so precious about everything, that simple things like Chris Evans playing Dean Parrish becomes an issue. As Chalky said in his last post it happens all the time, I don't get why people are either outraged or surprised.
  7. I listened to it last night, I thought PW was good because he wasn't constantly banging on about himself, mostly he just asked questions, so from that point of view excellent. I liked, or have liked every track played, but I couldn't help feeling it was pure nostalgia and kept thinking to myself, musically, this is like the most comfortable pair of slippers ever, I'd have liked a little more focus on what's happening now, so it wouldn't come across that the soul scene was/is just marking time, mentions for Soul Sam, Butch, and Andy Dyson would have given it a bit more balance, also reflecting that there is a lot of funk based stuff being played nowadays would have made it a bit more current.
  8. Got the clip from this morning on my facebook page, but don't know how to get it onto soul source. If anybody does know how, please feel free to nick it from my profile and put it up so everyone can see it. Cheers Winnie
  9. What a brilliant description
  10. I've been saying this for about the last 15 years, and I'm completely wrong. Every time I go out, there are new people appearing, granted they may not all be following northern in the traditional way, but there's still a reasonably constant flow. People in their late thirties early forties want somewhere to go out, and the northern scene is as good a place as any it seems to me. I think that's the main reason the scene has become so fractured over the last decade and why so many oldies events have come to the fore. Pete Waterman's words probably won't suit the purists, but it will raise some interest, which can't be a totally bad thing?

Angelos branches out, after hearing that 'shooting stars' has been axed
  13. Most of us, we need 'grumpys' and 'grumblies'
  14. There is, I think she was working? Anyway I only put up a few examples, there's loads more, but it's never mattered who's associated themselves with northern, it's never made an ounce of difference to the proverbial big picture, it's not changed what anyone knows or anyone thinks. It's just never had any real influence IMO
  15. I honestly can't see what the fuss is about? Over the years we've had loads of celebs into northern type threads, people from Emmerdale, Corrie etc etc, all seen at the occasional do. Dale Winton, Eric Knowles, Anna Ford all have been associated with northern, and what difference or damage has it made or done to the scene? None whatsoever, it could probably be argued quite successfully that more damage has been done from within. For me, let him have his moment in the 'soul scene sun' he won't have the tan the rest of us have got
  16. Not to my taste, I could have the onset of 'I'moutragedaphobia' All a bit too Jive Bunny .................
  17. Relevant point that usually causes ''I'moutragedaphobia'' that it's been voiced, no known cure I'm afraid................
  18. Cheers Mike, no changes in my computer skills
