  1. Maybe this will help Steve https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaction_mass
  2. I practice cerebral dancing when you're on Len, it sort of goes ''stomp stomp, pause for thought, stomp slide, must check the label, shuffle shuffle, everybody's part of the matrix, relax'' repeat as necessary x
  3. You play em, I'll dance to em
  4. I knew there had to be a reason for you playing that record at the bowl......................... :P
  5. I remember Danny from years ago, fascinated me how he generated so much speed when he spun, still see Bill at Peterborough, and yes, great spinner. Few others worth a mention, Tall Paul (Todmorden) Billy Marr (Scotland) and Snowy, from I can't remember where All great spinners.
  6. Yep, and the reason it gets daft is that those who don't want to donate, feel the need to give their reasons for not doing so. Chalky said it earlier, if the thread or the cause is of no interest, then why comment? Let those who want to help do so, plenty of other threads for those that don't want to assist to be miserable on,
  7. My inhaler comes in very handy sometimes
  8. I loved it as a teenager, would I still do it now if I could? yep as long as the standard I had hadn't dropped. Thing I see these days amongst some of those that still do, they're timing is so badly out, but then that can be applied to spinning or dancing as well.
  9. I've never dissed the music of my youth, but I had a spell as a snob in the late 9Ts, thankfully I've recovered, because I was completely and utterly in the wrong. Everything has a place, once I realised that, I started to enjoy everything a whole lot more.
  10. I don't know if that's to me, if it was, the only point I was making was, that this is a recurring topic, and without someone to put the other side of the coin as it were, it's not really a debate Hence me saying, ''right on cue the alternative view'', no malice intended
  11. And right on cue, the alternative view
  12. Aren't these topics a bit pointless without the alternative view, it's just preaching to the converted............
  13. I like to think I've widened Russ's original discussion point Barry
  14. The northern scene has always embraced 'gingers'
  15. I pretty much think along the same lines, there may well be a northern scene in 50 years time, but it won't be recognisable when compared to today's scene, just as today's scene isn't the same as the one most of us arrived on 30/40 years ago, it's forever morphing
  16. Si, do you really care buddy, I know I don't
  17. Let's be thankful Jimmy Saville didn't like northern then, although did you ever see him and Hilda in the same room at the same time...........
  18. RIP Frank Wilson x
  19. They get in the way of us dancers staggering around............
  20. Have heard the same, and seen 2/3 fights this year, won't name the venues as I don't think it's relevant. Been coming for at least 10 years Si, as the scene has become more social orientated than dance, can't see how it would go any other way
  21. Good point, get the northern soul types in you pretty much have a captive audience, and bar revenues boosted
  22. I just watched it again, and I really enjoyed it, yeah there's a couple of naff bits, but if I compare it to the ''normal'' TV fare on offer, it comes out top by miles
  23. Thanks very much Gerri, much appreciated
  24. Can someone identify a tune for me please Some of the lyrics Yesterday I thought i'd never love again but today honey i think i got something blowing in the wind and i wanna know", musical break and continues "Is it the way that that you look in my eyes, could it be that i'm hypnotised, you got me walking round in a daze, can't even think my mind is in a haze, i wanna know baby what your doin to me" Thanks
  25. Like most things, best thing to do is experience it yourself and then decide what you think, if we listened to every critic of everything, we'd never do anything
