  1. But she is in time, which is often a pleasant surprise these days
  2. Great post, somebody should have warned you saying/writing KTF is generally regarded as a no-no, there are abbreviations avoided as well KOKO I like the track and would probably have a 'shoulder shrug' to it in a modern room, but turn my nose up in a northern setting. It's that drumming in the background that sets it apart for me, but she does have a lovely voice to my ears.
  3. I think it was pretty obvious Kev. Aaron, and although I don't like his 'selections' I think Scal's post is pretty disrespectful
  4. I can imagine John Miles singing it, but it sounds a little bit like Bryan Adams as well
  5. My apologies
  6. Is that a posh tea?
  7. Surely it should be Phoebe Buffay friends stalwart and regular at the Casino....
  8. First impressions, I liked it, is there any info on it other than the Thurston Day thing?
  9. Whereas tapioca is a lyrical must in any good northern song?
  10. I'd better listen to it again, maybe I'm guilty of trying to be in with 'the in crowd' Edit: Just listened to it again, and leaving the 'pudding' lyrics to one side, I still quite like it, and would definitely dance to it albeit in an Ainsley Harriott kind of style
  11. Or it's just better to my ears and is certainly closer to a 'northern' sound
  12. Kev put up Nichelle Nichols - Know what I mean Aaron put up; Dakota Staton - My babe Merv Griffin - The screemin' Meemies from planet X Sylvia Sims - Each Day Katherine Holt - My Love Carol Connors - That's all it takes
  13. Good news about paypal Chris Finch is a character from the office, the wide boy womaniser salesman that David Brent (Ricky Gervais) admires
  14. I listened to Aaron's choices and as someone has already said, they're not remotely northern and I pretty much disliked them. Listened to this one and found myself actually thinking I quite like this and I'd dance to it, so if they're regarded as the same genre, they're must be a subtle difference I'm missing?
  15. Q.) What is the future of Northern Soul. A.) Plenty of in house arguing
  16. That would be a completely different view Dean and one I'd understand much more easily
  17. I know Tezza, I'm regularly reminded that it's sacrilege that I don't never did like it That's another one I've never liked Baz
  18. As others have said Mark, taste is one thing, being unduly influenced is another. Do I think at such a tender age it when first embracing the northern soul scene you'd immediately come to the conclusion that The Snake and Do I love you are not for you, I'd see it as very unlikely without input from either those around you or 'The Net forums'. I know it happens, I took instant dislike to The Larue, The Trip, Cochise, just to name three and I'm sure most of us could recount similar tales, but because that was at a similar age to Aaron, I had no access to the internet to sway my opinion. I'm not saying Aaron's taste or opinion is definitely influence guided, just that it's more likely these days because information and opinion is much more readily available
  19. It depends on your audience to some extent Len, imagine coming onto soul source extolling the virtues of the snake, generally speaking the person doing the extolling would get slaughtered, so a lot of oldies can get dismissed for no other reason than they're no longer popular. To me that's the wrong reason, dismiss them when you're in the process of moving forward because the boredom has set in through hearing the same records constantly, not because you're told to, it'll come naturally with time. Moral of the story, don't run before you can walk
  20. Clicked the link, and found it interesting. I think if you sell a few at Stoke, word of mouth could boost sales, good luck buddy
  21. I don't think so Godz I've never wanted to be a DJ (I'd have to get some records first anyway ) doesn't interest me in the slightest. I do however like to look at the varying perspectives, as in what people require, stage presence, rarity, keeping the dance floor full, putting a set together etc. So just a punters interest for me
  22. You're thinking of the other detroit classic Shadrach Meshach and Abednigo ;)
  23. You're weathering quite well for a 71 year old
  24. Are you really Martin Lewis, can you sort my PPI out please...
  25. So do I, and I don't have a voice like Joss Stone, or MJ, she may cover them because she appreciates them, as I would if I had her talent, so fair play to the girl IMO
