  1. And could it be part of Johnnie Mae's sessions that she did with Ollie McLaughlin for her 2 Blue Rock releases ? As these don't even sound Detroit all the same and share musical similarities with this 'Mamma's Gonna Stop You'.
  2. On here too but it sold.
  3. 45cat.com sets the release date of Little Tommy 'Baby Can't You See' on Sound of Soul in November 1965 but without any lead like BB or RW refs... So FWIW to be taken with diligence. This Hemisphere 45 going by the similarity in design of that Little Tommy 'Baby Can't You See' on Sound of Soul and the following release bt the World Famous Upsteter surely got released close by. But with the Fairmount release of Oscar Wright dating from August 1966 I would doubt somehow that Mr Wiggles would release a 6 months old product to benefit from a national promotion and exposure. That sole release on Hemisphere could have been released consecutively after the world Famous Upsetter release on Sound of Soul still bearing the similar label attributes (distr. and address at the bottom of labels).
  4. Yes but we have no date of release for the Hemisphere. While the Fairmount was released around August 1966...
  5. The Hemisphere press came out first locally. Then both Fairmount variants from different pressing plants. No evidence but just logical deduction.
  6. Sounds more like a very Lo-Fi mastering likely trying to hide recording flaws (muffled). Or a DIY recording session.
  7. Makes sense. Am only seeing this now. I need training (I don't read the press anymore) so I miss the training to tell mediocre liberal hand writing that from ChatGPT that dips in them writings... But indeed like 'the phrase 'Northern Soul' which is a term and not a phrase indicates a patchwork of texts that lacks that meaningful intelligence that even liberals can have at times. Only not their slave machines.
  8. A 'rare' misprint article ? Stanton WTF ! Overlooked selection with more than half of the tunes in the TOP500. Really ? And a dreadful version of Barbara Lynn (Why go so low ?) that is overheard anyway. Overlooked I don't know...
  9. Grover's first record dating early 1962. And what a groover this is ! Ever since I discovered it on Joe Boy's mini CD new release of VeeJay back then in 1998 as compiled by none other than Roger Banks I fell in love with it. Sing along Uptown R'n'B foot taper. Not your over exposed niter number that still has all of its 'fresh' cool factor. Ex playing and looking rarer promo VINYL copy. Soundclip and scans of actual copy for sale. £70 All In. grover mitchell.mp3
  10. Excellent copy of this double sided dancer. Clean small DH. Relisted and reduced from £135 to £125 All in. Soundclip of both sides and scans from actual copy for sale. chris calloway.mp3
  11. One of Darrow's best. IMHO at least. Super clean vinyl copy. Soundclip and scan of actual copy for sale. £80 All In. my young misery.mp3
  12. Yes sure it's fine.
  13. The first local press has no promo variant. Then the Atlantic Group distributed pressings from 3 pressing plants ; PS and PL on vinyl and the MO on styrene. Normally all theses should exist as promos and stockers but only the PL as stocker pops up. The MO and SP are mostly if not only seen as promos. So it's all a bit more complicated than that...
  14. You have Shazam now ? Even I don't have that. Modern Tool Rules ! I guess it's a tad too short without hooks or breaks to have a 'pattern' for Shazzam. But who am I to know ?
  15. Early seventies is still seventies. Ar least in sounds and to years that is. The drum work and sizzling horns are more reminiscent of that later sound. The Greater Experience is 1970 (or about), The Embers 'Watch Out Girl' B / W 'Far Away Places' on M-G-M is September 1970... The Chancellors 'Everybody's Got To Lose Someone Sometime' on El-Cid would be 1969. Why I'm saying could be early seventies or late sixties all the same. But never 1966 for example. But...
  16. The backing track doesn't sound sixties to me but...
  17. No it's not Cajun Hart. Not a touch on him. Cajun Hart "love or hate him' can sing. Not that this is bad but it's not a natural singer here. But it's a white singer for sure. The similarity starts and stops there. Could be a seventies obscure American thing.
  18. Patti's finest backed with a flip that is yet to get the exposure it deserves. A super fine copy with just those faint but big pinball point pencil writings on the label. Soundclip and images of both sides from the actual copy for sale. £450 All In. patti austin.mp3
  19. Modern Soul optimistic Dancer that missed its promotional aim to support the Boston Celtics basket ball team into the 1980 finals that got pressed in Chile and took ages to reach the USA after the Boston Celtics got eliminated. Supposedly most of the stock were dumped and the remaining copies were given to the producers. So goes the 'rarity' legend. Super clean playing and looking copy. Soundclip of short version (4:00) and images of both sides from the actual copy. £100 All In. no more games.mp3
  20. Super sweet mellow lover tune in smashing condition. Co-composed by none other than Johnny Copeland ! Soundclip and scans are from actual copy. £45 All In. answers to love.mp3
  21. Clean looking and playing copy as required for this quiet at first then building up intimate song that grows and grows slowly to at the end fill in all the corners of the room... Sound clip and images from the actual copy for sale at £175 all in. venus V.mp3
  22. The real 'A' side is a real gem. Although a West Coast (Len Jewel) Product it is most reminiscent of the then Gamble & Huff NOW sound that swiped the charts all over the land. 'My Love Is Ready And waiting' is the side for me. But the dancers will go for the 'What AboutMe' frantic dancer. Sound of both sides from actual copy with scans. £125 all in. visitors TRC 2.mp3
  23. Ray's double header of major proportion here with his original 1966 version of Linda Jone's 1967 majestic interpretation of 'Give My Love A Try'. Backed with his firm favorite dark'N'moody 'Gettin' Over You'. Listen to full sound clips of Both sides from the actual copy for sale with pictures. £200 all in. Drill Hole, scuffy vinyl and some rub wear on label but still standing, looking and sounding strong and proud. VG+ going through EX. ray lewis fairmount.mp3
