Tlscapital replied to joegibbs's topic in Look At Your Box
No. First on Kent 6T's 100Club 19th Anniversary. Then on Kent Town and finally came that American boot / reissue or whatever on Golden State Records (USA pressing is my guest). -

It's the Monarch two lines press that Ady Pierce has for sale at €150 but it has a drill hole. So... FWIW slightly less common than the ARP press with a somewhat cleaner mastering for the vocals to come out "cleaner" or upfront over the music in playback. But regardless of that interesting factor I kept my ARP press and sold that one. Preferring (or is used to that influenced my "preference"... I believe not) the playback of my old ARP copy. Surely other different discerning ears will prefer this 'cleaner' one. Only not me.

Philips is the American pressing. So considered a later "foreign" presses. Fontana for French or German and Stone on Canadian if he wants them all.

OK, good to know. What I remember is at the very first 'Togetherness Week Ender' (and my last) Kenny Burrel's spot was full of rare fantastic tunes. I admit to that. But with the alleged rumors of splashed-out money to acquire all those easy peasy it gave me an unpleasant after taste to it all. So I just sat and listened to that 'rare soul orgy'... Not my kind of dee-jay spot to be honest. A bit 'look what I got' and / or rather 'impersonal' if you ask me. Of those I've heard enough for too long. To a bore and more. Such spoiling of great records independently has something almost nauseating.
-
OK was told that... My bad. After searching and reading on the net about it (not that such NS soap drama is my feed) I didn't know that Kenny actually sold that copy few years after in 2009 for 25K before that 'ghost' let it go through JM's notarial's hands upon's Lee's desire in acquisition for an undisclosed bail bounty sum.
-
But I thought that it was unanimous understood that when Lee "won" it from JM's auction for a staggering figure of 98K it was only for the vanity narrative of it... Presumably for the "love" of the track... With a father to son tale... And a protocole 'movie' to go with the record handling from the seller to the buyer. Never to be sold again for such worth (not even mentioning a profit) as it was already ridiculously overpriced. When Kenny bought it from Tim early 2000 or so back then many thought 15K was already an 'overkill'... Years later Kenny strike luck with a successful "smart drink" company's profit bid on JM's just below 100K !!! Who will save Lee from such shameful investment now ? Am not certain Motown freaks can afford that. Some Chinese or Emirate investor maybe ? As most here have pointed many will "ban" the dance floor (like many did when Kenny played it back then) if ever an "ambitious" dee-jay plays it. Even more so this copy !

Original copy in nice EX condition at £400 (registered shipping included) with high Rez scans and sound clips from both fantastic sides of actual copy. Happy New Year ! epitome of soun.mp3

Hi Graham, sorry, instantly corrected your name there... Merry Christmas to you, your kin and your videos Indeed I like many others always thought they were him and Bobby indeed. At 29:30 after naming the Majesttees Fred names the Two Fellows and you ask him that's you ain't it ? To my surprise he says NO ! Fred then keeps on saying the record was 'stop' (don't give your lovin' to anybody)' and you ask him again not you and ? He replies again NO ! After that you ask him you don't know who the they were ? Fred replies NO ! He seems rather categorical about that fact there. Taking his word for it. Although I still hear their singing on the flip 'yeah, yeah, yeah' but maybe that's their whole typical composition that's fooling my ears there....
-
It's featured on Datcogs and 45Cat.com but it's only on one of the yellow stocker variant from a pressing plant that his version of 'come to me' is on the flip instead of the common 'lever, fever, fever'.
-
Fabulous work again Graham. Thanks a lot for this one as for all the previous ones. Was looking forward to this very interview since I was wondering if it was him and Robert singing 'stop' and 'yeah, yeah, yeah' on the Mutt 45 as the Two Fellows (Fred and Skeets). Now at least we got his answer saying that it wasn't him the Fred there so we take that. Hoping only we can rely on that since he didn't seem to think much of the Lo-Fi job done at Mutt and must think of it as a 'stain' on his otherwise perfect discography 'resumé'.
-
A serious favorite of mine... Love the label (have 4 out of 7 which suffice me), production (not so obscure at least to Chicago freaks) and singer (he had at least 3 singles under that name) ; a blues singer + on a soul float = my thrill ! 250 won't let you touch a copy today I'm afraid. I mean a clean one.

Early seventies southern (I guess you mean like raw) but with synth. Still right ? Quoting Syl Johnson for his Hi! sessions then ? Down, mid or uptempo tempo ?

Anderson Brothers another EvilBay auction OG scam ?
Tlscapital replied to Tlscapital's topic in Look At Your Box
You're absolutely right there but it's not my bid here (not even my idea) but indeed any bid is binding (unless withdrawn in time) but the seller's description is also binding to what the customer will effectively receive. If one bids £5.000 thinking that he / she might just get away with it's too short I agree. He / she will have to honor the payment, receive the item then start to contact the seller to find an 'gentlemen's' agreement if ever. If none is find then he / she will be eligible to open a claim case hoping that the small hands (heads) stupid-O agents treating these claims 'item not fitting the description' will give him / her the green light fir a full refund. This is where the eVilBay and partner in crime PayPool bad policing lately and poorer treatments in such claims on such matters is clearly leaving too many breaches for such vicious crooks malpractices to operate shamelessly. -

Good for him. It can be a very informative source to one and all. But if he read it the first time why did he repeat the same thing a second time... Bootlegs, look-a-likes and what have you fooling OVO rule for that reason too. The only plastic involved with OVO is the grooved one. Not the people. -

What a prick. We don't see nothing wrong... Proof... Playing smart, than stupid-O trying to fool the interlocutor. He clearly deserves some backdraft of his own. -

Got this in my e-mails. But it doesn't mention anything about the commercial transaction or about the buyer's warning or sanction if ever... -
Anderson Brothers another EvilBay auction OG scam ?
Tlscapital replied to Tlscapital's topic in Look At Your Box
Yes but I mean I would put it up for sale 'highlighting' on this previously auctioned copy clearly stating that the last '$460 won' copy description was erroneously misleading as an original but it's only a 1976 styrene reissue. But it's rather hopeless and maybe even infringing the eVilBay seller's guidelines to discredit other's sellers to begin with. And indirectly incriminating the EvilBay 'blind eye' on the matter after so many motivated reports...
