Hi Jim, it was first issued on the San Antonio, Texas Dynamic label in 1964 by the Commands (who also composed the tune), My guess is that the O'Jays covered the tune and it was issued on the Imperial 45 in 1966. Being revived by the famous O'Jays on the major Imperial company, Houston Taxas based Back Beat label decided to re-release it by the original artists the Commands. The O'Jays album Soul sounds saw the light in 1967. So, what is the M.Lance credit ? I'm clueless, is it just a mistake and is it Major Lance or any other Margaret or Mick ? I don't know. But it's also a Sanisa music and not ASCAP copyright credit. I have no clue what is Sanisa Music though. Does anybody have a lead on that ? So it's also the last sixties edition of that tune (Soul sounds LP) that has the wrong credit. Minit is Imperial, so if it's not just a plain mistake at the label print what would be the reason for that ? Once again, I have no idea. Cheers, Tim
