A long favourite of mine. It's so particular in it's musical arrangements and Tommy's rendition is so soulful, I fell in love with it at first hear. OK, it first came out on the small TNT label, but still this is the rarer Verve dark blue ssue and not the less rare demo. Bears a drill cut hole on label. 'I wanna thank you side' could be an early hour spin and 'oh what I'd give' is a highly regarded deep soul southern style. Overall great condition copy. 25 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! While reading the topic about the Witches 45 'she's got you now' on Bang in the Look at your box Forum down here and RobbK comment on this Calla release. I thought to myself how good it is, I also remembered the spare copy sleeping in on of my sale boxes. And indeed, this is my favourite of the band. It's more subtle than their other 45s but holds more class and drama at the same time IMHO. If it would be rare it would command more money and would spring from the 'connoisseur' boxes to hit the DJ's decks. This copy is in Ex+ condition. Soundclip not from actual record for sale. 25 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! Got mine with girl choruses and never looked any further since I knew it first from the Kent comp 'Sure Shots' without the choruses. I belived (might be proven wrong) then that either it was another mix or an Ady re-work on the tapes. I would doubt that at Duke, Peacock... records they would work out different takes/mixes for a same catalog 45 issue. Now, I would love to be proven wrong since I prefer this song without the choruses and if so, I could be on the look out for one without to upgrade my copy.

Wonderfull big band production on a perfectly build dramatic orchestral construction/composition. The credits on this one are the explaination ! Record condition is VG+ only since it's been cleaned up (not by me) and mainly light thin scuffs are remaining on both sides of the vinyl. So I'd suggest to lower the 'highs' and boost the volume a tiny bit to compensate when played out. Youtube soundclips of actual 45 are played 'as' with no such sound modification at all. Both sides "suffer" the same faith of WOL and vinyl condition. 40 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! !!! SOLD !!! No need to introduce this wonderfull claasic. Only need to underline that this is the much rarer VINYL issue. Condition is EX+ with one small "spot sticker" faint mark on 'whole world...' side and two of those again and a tiny 'S' WOL on the flip side. Look at the scans and just in case you forgot how good this tune is, enjoy the "kitchensink" Youtube clips (from actual record) and get itno that wonderful groovy deep soul flip. They still sound as fresh as the day they were made. Their better sides IMHO. 50 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! !!! SOLD !!! Malcolm Hayes 'baby please, don't leave me' has always been the side I went for. Now I just got this spare copy and thought I would give it a go here on SS. While looking out for a soundclip on the net, I realized that this side was maybe not popular or known by the many since I couldn't find a soundclip online. In order to give it it's chance a listen, I did my "kitchensink" Youtube video with this very copy for sale. 'I can't make it without you' is the actual A side and the better known side. Grade between VG++ and EX-. It's still clean enough with some light label wear and scuffs. Still looks and plays good. See scans. http/www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqmCsAwRCP8&feature=youtu.be 45 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! Don't think one is rarer than the other as such. Different pressing plants and typos. A lot of American Decca's have both large, thin and thinner typos. With copyrights infos and timming swifting from right to left of the label. And the tipped side being signified with either a "shamrock" or a "diamond". Brunswick had a lot of such examples for the black stock issues; some with large typos other with smaller ones. They are the same company. I never considered one rarer than the other.

Sounding black, sorry Pete but never to my ears ! It's apealling but poppy sounding. The Urban Legend I can understand where you going with that. But. have you ever listen to the flip side ? That's a first hint about this "sounding black" any wich way. It just doesn't. I never got to much in the "yesterday of our love" since it sounded "garragy-poppy" to my ears. As well as it is northern soul, but so are many other things that are not soul at all If it's really Jimmy Seals to become Seals & Croft, that for fact, I don't know but it could makes sense. If I were really into it to own it and crave about it, I would dig into it. I'm just not. Wikipedia has a story around it I remember. But, hey, Wiki is...

New Batch Of Original Northern 45's(& Some Tapes)
Tlscapital replied to Pete S's topic in Record Sales
Paul Flagg is a truly great record; the voice, the convicing lyrics he appropriates himself, the horns, the twangling guitar "riffs" & the real nice price to top it. -
In Ex condition overal, both record and company sleeve. Only blemishes are the small library number on top right front company sleeve and dot sticker mark on 'one more chance' label side. Otherwise would have define as real nice EX condition. This very copy should fit the collector's proper collections as to secure the DJ's with this solid center purple UK release of 1968 to catch the eye of the OVO watchmen since even from a distance, it can't be confused with the 'overflowing the demand' identical label of the Back Beat release done few years ago. Anyway, look at he scans. Payment accepted with Paypal as to 'family or friends'.

!!! SOLD !!! Much rarer and cuter PINK logo thick vinyl (not styrene) broadcast copy. In Tip-top shape. Classic, should be in every collection... This single sided promo should be more desirable for the collectors who love the generally less common eye catching white label. Even though this one is rarer as the black stock issue. But the flip side (here missing) 'Philly dog' is rather insignifiant IMHO. This Johnny Williams first effort is a gem featuring lazy drums, fat horns, nonchallant girl choruses and Johnny's plaintive lament about how his women is so so so good to him. Why coplain when she's so good to you, I don't know. In EX- condition it plays like a baby and is still clean enough to fit the collector's collection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53qFmjEJhKI 50 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! SOLD ! This is Vickie at her best. Musical arrangements in it's most basic simplicity can still be funky and swinging as anything bombastic just like it shows here. Vickie sensuous and delicate singing fits this composition perfectly. Listen to the soundlip not from actual record for sale. Flip side 'we can find that love' is in the same vein but with less intrest IMHO. 55 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! This is his other Atlantic release that in a way is more bluesy than 'I wanna kniow' but then which also holds much more soul at the same time. The 'ain't no need' side is my 'PUSH' side that grows and grows on you as the song evolves. Not as loud as 'I wanna know' but still a cute 'shuffler' if I may say so. Flip side is a deep bluesy cut in the most Bobby 'Blue' Bland vein that holds all the respect to the originator. Condition is a nice EX that plays great + small price sticker residue on flip. Soundclip not from actual record. 55 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! (extra 6 £ to have it signed for) payment through Paypal as 'to family or friends' gradings M, EX, VG, G PM me for inquiries

!!! TRADED !!! Open to trade this real nice condition exclusive item. It's in great shape but for some WOL on the flip. See scans. Still good for collector's and perfect for DJ's. The logo's on both sides did suffer from the ink not being dry after the print and pilled directly out of the press. I guess all the copies are like that. The thick vinyl is EX++ SUPERB ! And the label on 'when i wanna see you' side is perfect. I'm looking for northern of equal value. To many to name. Will consider 1 on 1 or 2 on 1.

Valerie & Nick 'don't feel sorry for me' LOAD of potential and far less common than their 'I'll find you' and with an extra edge to give you chills and thrills. Flip 'somebody's lying on love' is more light and poppy. Condition is overall VG+ but still looks good and sound good. Scan to give you a close up look to the record. 60 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! (extra 6 £ to have it signed for) payment through Paypal as 'to family or friends' gradings M, EX, VG, G PM me for inquiries https://www.youtube.com/edit?video_id=ULUzUUZ5ZgY&video_referrer=watch&ns=1 The Shades of Jade 'why does it feel so right (doing wrong)' is what it is. I always loved this record. Pat Brady auctioned a copy lately that fetched up to 200 £ or more with the most correct description and the soundfile to prove how great this really is. Now this copy is not a collectors fullfilment as it's only a VG+. But it has it's "charms" I'd say; the label is off center, there's water stains on both sides of the labels, it bares a heat mark on the outer vinyl edge to cause some 'up & down' action for the stylus the firsts few grooves and finaly it shows some marks on the vynil that cause some ticks and tacks. Nothing dramatic and still playable and musically enjoyable at home as out for sure. Again, Youtube from actual record and scan to have an closer look to the faulty bits. 100 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! Jackie Wilson 'just be sincere' is pure mid tempo brillance. While 'I don't want to lose you' is the original to the stomping version of the Bell Boys. Some dig Jackie's better or they don't want to put in the money for the Bell Boys. Either way, Jackie's version is also worthwile musicwise and it's the original cut to this so well and rightfully loved song. Lovely MINTY copy (not even a drill hole !!!!) in it's full gear with company sleeve. Very cute ! Soundclips not from actual record for sale. Scans are though ! 25 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! Issues You've Never Seen ( Because They Don't Exist? )
Tlscapital replied to Agentsmith's topic in Look At Your Box
Does exist. I've seen it some 15 years ago or so at a Belgian pop-corn collector's hoie who used to have few good contacts in the United States. I know he paid some good money for it. He didn't tell me how much back then since I didn't ask him. It was the blue plastic label. So it does exist defo. Now he got most his collection stolen few years after that and he became bitter and suspicious about many people on and from the pop-corn scene. I can't say if he still has it or not. And I don't feel confortable asking him if that one was stolen or not to provide a scan of it. It must still hurt him I believe. He had about 10.000 OVO 45's and about 7.000 were stolen ! -
The Marvelows' version of the Channels always got my vote by a mile. Johnny Pate's prod. gives it a somewhat dramatic treatlment and the wonderfull plaintive voices of the guys add to that. While the original cut by the Channels was produced by the classy Teacho Wilshire is more pop to my ears. Even though, most seem to still go for the Channels. It is maybe due to the fact that the Marvelows version has less exposure. Or is it because it is less "jumpy" or "fast" for the acrobatic dancerl ? I also find this Marvelows 45 to be scarcer than the Channels. Listen to it and make up your mind. Flip 'do it' is a real nice feel good sequel to their hit 'I do'. Condition is Ex and tiny red WOL on both sides. Soundclips from actual record for sale. 36 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! Ok Dave, the Volumes promo 'gotta give her love' but WITH lines does exist. But I only know of the Bobbie Smith without lines (black label & white label. If ever there were onther numbers on American Arts before Bobbie Smith and between Bobbie Smith (AA2) and the Volumes (AA6), I've never seen any to wonder what is the story behind the ones (B & W) WITHOUT lines. It's a bit of a brainstortming for such a detail. But, it's such a long beloved record for me and I'm just curious if there might be a story behind the different pressings back then. Was it revived or pushed a second time ? Stuffs like that. Voila. Cheers, Tim

Hi Robb, you mean the one without lines or with lines ? egg.: OR Both had a black 'commercial' labelled run; & I only know of the Bobbie Smith for the American Arts label that had those issues without lines. I only saw the Volumes and Patti Jerome in the flesh. Few oddities on the net. But don't know of other early numbers if they do exist at all. So I presumed those without lines were first run of pressings and it had later rounds due to demand with the 'new' lined designed label. And they added the "an Embee Prod." quote to. Would you know better or... Cheers, Tim
