  1. It was cosy. James is such a big lad, he keeps me nice and warm. Gone right off policemen after our last encounter with the boys in blue, Mr Higgins.
  2. Has anyone heard Bobby Marchan - There's something on your mind. Its on birth of soul vol 3. Surley this song would be banned now due to its lyrical content about killing people with a shotgun. Its the most bizzare song ive ever heard. Anyone know the one?
  3. Would def be interested in those pete. Have you got a few of them?
  4. Willie Mitchell - That Driving Beat, what a song that is. Never fails to get me in the mood for a niter. 100% Stomper.
  5. I couldn't believe how good that was. Thought it would be just ok, but its a classic. The guy who plays david ruffin is top. When he turns up at that gig after they'd thrown him out, then he sings "aint too proud..." to Otis. Class!
  6. I dont mind listening to a bit of soul now and again but my heart lies with those little long haired guitar rascals. Their music takes me to a level soul cant Got my project in a week on tuesday then its revision time for the finals which start at the end of april and finish mid may. Once the projects in then ill be free for a beer or two. Is new century on the end of this month. If so ill be there.
  7. Bonjour Steve. May i congratulate you on what was a fantastic night on friday even though i was only down for an hour. That night could be MASSIVE and get a younger scene going. Ill get all my mates down for the next one. Sure they'll love it. Following on from our conversation about mid tempo, im really getting into it. Absolutely love " crook his little finger" and " a whole new plan" although i cant tell you who does them!. Soulsville did me a tape with these on and its top. You were right when you said that id get into mid tempo. P.S. Im sniffing for a tape here.......
  8. Good lad Pete
  9. Thats one person though! Plenty of my mates dont like the music, but they like chart shite. Went round to my friends house last night, sat in with a few beers and one of the lads put floorshakers on. What are the chances of that happening, a young lad banging a northern cd on. Turns out he has two are three northern albums. My point is that just because some saddo in the office who probably drives home listening to whitney houston doesn't like northern soul doesn't mean that others out there dont either. (thats not aimed at your pal ) Took said lads too New Century last month and they had the time of their lives. Danced all night and couldn't believe they'd never been before.
  10. Flesh eating vultures attracted to the scent of a defendless women.
  11. Just booked my ticks for once upon a time in wigan for the friday night show at wigan. Anyone know if there's a do on after anywhere?

    Snow

Our love will grow - The Snowmen....... ill get my coat.
  13. Where do people see the scene being in 20 years time? The avg age will then be 50-60, does this spell the end? Even though there are a few younger people getting into the music, i dont think that enough are coming through to keep the scene going in years to come. I for one dont want to see the death of northern soul but is there really anyway is can stay strong. I know that a lot of people dont like youngsters turning up at all nighters and often moan whwn they aren't taking it seriously enough. But this cant go on. Without younger people coming through, it could all be over sooner than we think! How can this be prevented?
  14. I understand that no-one wants to hear the same tunes week in week out, who does! But certain people really do have a problem with oldies in general. I've spoken to a few folk who dont like oldies featuring in a set and do turn their noses up at others enjoying them. Shane, i dont understand why you think my feelings will change in 12 months but i guess ill have to wait and see! Im not talking about overplayed oldies, but oldies in general.
  15. Its become apparent that a lot of people on here dont like oldies and turn their noses up at nights playing oldies. Why is this. Aren't oldies the backbone of the soul scene? Being new to the scene i can enjoy all the songs played because they are all still fresh to me. A good position to be in! But a lot of people seem to hate anything thats not ultra rare. Many threads on here have contained posts where people claim to "hate" oldies and cant stand them being played too much at nights. If thats the case, how did these people get into soul? Not having a do at anyone, just a bit miffed with such statements! Anyone care to shed any light on the matter?
  16. It wasn't the best was it. Still, i'd have taken a draw before the game. That clown who threatened savage got sent down. Could have at least belted him. They always bottle it!
  17. Yeah that bits on the cd too. Can just picture them pissed off and wanting to get home for tea
  18. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT !
