  1. All the ladies round my neck of the woods are weak at the kness knowing that the Belsonator is going to be in town................
  2. Anyone got a cheap copy then please pm. Ta
  3. I bought one a few years ago - about 300 records. Easily made my money back flogging bits. Think I got about 10 copies of solaris - you and me and many more £10 tunes and a couple of £50 tunes. It's a gamble and I know that a few people had some major issues when dealing with him.
  4. Jesus, that is awful news. RIP Helena.
  5. Lovely words, Becky. Hope you're ok if you read this. Joe was a top guy and a great dj. I always had him on at my events over the years and I'll miss him greatly.
  6. Really gutted. Heard this morning and can't believe it. Such a top guy and I had a lot of time for him. We were all sat in this dark and dirty pub at the last Hamburg, passing the time having a few beers until it was time to go to the airport. We had a proper laugh and it was the part of the weekend I remember the most. Can't believe we'll be a man down from now on. Joe was one of the good guys and I'll miss him greatly.
  7. Rudy Norman is an absolute killer!
  8. Seems odd that Mik is being attacked for wanting integrity in anyone flying the flag for soul music. If Stephen wants to play boots at his night then that's his choice. But I don't think he should discuss it on forum for rare soul fans and expect any positive feedback at all. We live in an age where everything is watered down. Keep the standards ultra high in the collection of soul records or don't do it at all. That's the reason why I gave up buying because I no longer had the time or money to do it properly. All this soul police talk is complete and utter bullshit. It just amazes me that so few people really genuinely get what its all about.

  10. Drop me a message if you have any job lots for sale. Cheers

  12. Has anyone got a few copies of blackbeat that they would sell or lend me? I'd love to read them as I find the history of the scene in the 80s really interesting.
  13. Really enjoyed watching those. Looks like it was a great time to be on the scene.
  14. Really enjoyed watching those. Looks like it was a great time to be on the scene.
  15. Wow, seriously surprised at that. Sold mine for about £50.
  16. £200!!??? Crazy price.
  17. Not using the mic is a massive positive. Muffled inaudible grunts in between records is really poor. Not sure why it's seen as a lack of confidence. Let the records speak for themselves.
  18. Flip is easily the best side. Should be getting plays.
  19. You've got to love that funk scene. About as underground as you can possibly get. Did you know the lads from the funk scene are also the 'hide and seek' world champions.
  20. Anyone looking to offload any late 80s early 90s house stuff. If so drop me a pm. Ta
  21. Once I sold the first few biggies then it became very easy to sell the rest. I do still have a decent 100 box which I won't be selling and I also have about 500 mixed genre 12's and lps, so I'm not completely out of it. I won't be dressing head to toe in Greenwoods and hanging about with the Dads from school discussing last nights hilarious challenge on Top Gear. If that happens I'll be reaching for the handgun in the top drawer. I'm at my happiest when having a dance to belting soul records in some cool club and long may that continue, even though it's only a couple of times a year at the moment.
  22. I guess this thread shows the difference between someone who has their record collecting completely in control and thoroughly enjoys it, against the person that battles with no money and addictions and finds it difficult to deal with. Noone is disputing the passion we all feel for the music. I do find it interesting that everyone has a different take on what it means to them and the differing comfort levels in each case. And just to reiterate, I'm not saying collecting records is a bad thing. I'm just saying that it was a hard hobby for me to handle.
  23. Ha ha ha! I'll still be dancing to 45s mate. Not knocking soul on the head. That would kill me.
  24. Not trying to piss on anyone's bonfire with this thread. I was just curious to see if anyone else battled with these issues and to be honest I'm amazed that so many people feel the same.
  25. All or nothing with me Steve - you know that mate! I can't do things in halves and expensive record collecting just doesn't agree with me. Can't stick to the £10 and £20 tunes unfortunately. Nothing worse than lying in bed worrying about how you're going to pay for the records you have on hold.
