  1. The Drifters - If You Don't Come Back - I found this in a charity shop a couple of weeks ago for 50p on UK London Atlantic and was surprised when i got it home how good it is. Good example of early soul. I wonder if it got played in the early days when there fewer tunes available for the DJ's to spin.
  2. Has The Olympics -Secret Agents been mentioned? Came out on British Fontana so imagine it got played. Doesn't sound dated like some oldies.
  3. Larry Williams - You Ask For One Good Reason / I Am The One Either side does the job.
  4. You're right - I didn't spot that.
  5. Oh dear I may have set myself up there! Just to be clear I do like Ray Agee too, just not £2K's worth.
  6. Had to laugh at this comment by JM on his recent auction for Ray Agee - I'm Losing Again (which went for £2K ). Today's conversation has been, how one of my long term valued collectors, wants dip into his savings to buy a record he's never owned and always wanted... but his wife will go mad if he spends his money on vinyl..Wives may come and go.. records of this calibre are to be treasured for the rest of your natural days..was my easy reply.. I know it's just John's witty marketing, but does anyone in their right mind even consider spending £2K on a record simply to own it, if they are worried about what their wife thinks? I've just bought The Impressions - This Is My Country on a 45 for £2.99. Just my opinion, but I think I've got the better record.
  7. No, I think you're confusing it with a cheap mouth organ. But anyway let's just agree he was quite handy on the harmonica.
  8. Ever tried playing one?
  9. He's got a co writing credit on The Contours - Just A Little Misunderstanding and The Isley's - My Love Is Your Love Forever. I've always thought this is a good track showcasing his virtuoso harmonica playing.
  10. I'm not an expert but believe its correct to say that the first issue TMG's up to about 640, had "tall" typeface as opposed to compressed or square typeface of later TMG's, and the back of the "G" in TMG is flat rather than rounded. Top image seems to be tall typeface but the image below is difficult to magnify so can't comment on it. Hope this helps. More info here :-
  11. Apparently not by Bobby Womack - until the royalties started rolling in
  12. I'm assuming that the UK bands who played live at The Wheel had their current and recent releases played at the All Nighters eg Chris Farlowe, The Alan Bown Set, The Action, Graham Bond, Georgie Fame and others? Dunno why but thought that Chris Farlowe's Think bw Don't Just Look At Me was played there.
  13. There are some scans in the photos section of this site, of records played at The Wheel ( can't add link for some reason ) including this oldie:-

  16. Jay Vons - very nice tune and thanks for alerting us to them. The Mystery Lights , another New York band signed to Wick Records, are good too although a bit more 60's garage rock than blue eyed soul.

  23. Re-listed with big reduction. Great crossover tune which doesn't often come up for sale. Vinyl and label of Happy To Be side is Ex. There is a small scuff on the B side which I've tried to show in the 4th photograph (at 2pm near run out groove ) and which doesn't affect play. £375.00 £325.00 Now £300.00 inc £7.00 postage and packing to Uk (special delivery) Paypal as gift please or add PayPal fee. 24. I visited Seoul 4 years ago when my daughter was there teaching English. The only secondhand vinyl I was able to find was at Hoehyeon Underground Market. Mainly albums, limited number of 45's but nothing of much interest and I came away without buying. Also not cheap from memory. Have added some pics which I took. Hope you have better luck than I had.
