  1. Quite right! what is the problem of the singer on the left wearing a scarf and the singer on the right?
  2. I've got it on a Va Va Voom giveaway CD from last year and I remember bidding on it last summer when it went for over £150 on ebay. Just noticed that he's also got James Dockery - My Faith In You Is All Gone newly added - another one I'd Like to have.
  3. Would love a copy too! - one of me faves and was surprised to read in his most recent guidebook that it's listed at £40.00 - gotta be a misprint!
  4. Hi Gogger Been waiting to get home to check this out coz I can't get youtube clips to play on my pc at work. I was knocked out by the Jnr Walker & The All Stars in Brixton clip I posted up recently which you commented on and was surprised not many people viewed it, but I think you may have aced me with this. I remember recently defending What's Going On on a thread in Artist of the Week making the point that all the right personnel are on it ie James Jamerson, Earl Van Dyke, Eddie Bongo Brown etc and was pleased to see them all playing on this clip - don't think i've seen any live footage of James Jamerson before and you're right about the quality of the bass playing. Thanks for posting - never seen it before and it's brilliant!
  5. Thanks for all the replies. I have begun a dispute with paypal for non delivery. ATB Mike
  6. Anyone know the background on this? tailor made for UK northern soul market or did it get a US release? Either way sounds pretty good to these ears and I wouldn't mind a copy. https://youtu.be/st9rz5mjvCI
  7. Yeah see what you mean and agree - will get onto it tomorrow.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I've just been looking at the ebay website and now see how to open a case for non delivery. I've looked at his feedback and true to his word,he has recently had several satisfied customers but that's no help to me if the dimwit can't get my address right.
  9. Afraid not but was hoping I could get my money back through raising a case with ebay?
  10. Hi I won an ebay auction recently for a nice record which the seller says he posted to me on 21/10/11. The seller has confirmed the address he says that he sent it to which is the correct house number, street, city but the post code is completely wrong (NX2 5D1 instead of NW2 5DL) Here's an extract copied and pasted from his last email to me:- I will not be held responceble for lost postage. All the records sent on the 21 have arived at the destinations, you have to email for recorded delivery, as the postage is £1.50, recorded is more than that, and you did not pay for recorded, Is he right about me being shafted if I didn't request recorded delivery? If he hasn't got proof of postage where do I stand? I haven't encountered this problem before and am a bit unsure what to do so would be grateful for advice on best approach to resolve it. ATB Mike
  11. Any chance of a consolation prize for earlier bump up? Seriously though, it does sound very good on the clip and hope its very successful. ATB Mike
  12. Hi On One I don't mind you mentioning it. Don't know much about this record. When you say a different cut, are you referring to the talking bit towards the end? When I first heard this on an MP3 on someones website, I think the fade out omitted the talking bit, but my copy includes it. I've also seen a copy where the label has got more detailed numbering etc on it. My copy was sold to me as VG+ I think, and is my only ebay purchase where I felt the description was wrong coz it's noisy on the quiet intro - pity. However, as you say it's a great record which has been commented on by a few others on here. The Vid is, of course, a classic. Wonder whether this was in his set list for the Torch gig? ATB Mike
  13. 123) pass 4) Newcastle. Just Don't Pay is a classy recording from the clip you posted earlier and I wish you every success with it. Mike
  14. Arnie That's a cool track - it's going straight onto my mp3 player.
  15. Oops - sorry double post.
  16. Not booted according to Manships Guide 5th Edition. According to the guide, the A side is We Can Make It. The Label is:- Tangerine 987 - guide price is £15. ATB Mike
  17. More Wikpedia info:- Billy Preston introduced The Stairsteps to The Beatles, and the group signed with George Harrison's Dark Horse label . That's me done - off to the 100 Club
  18. Got this off Wikpedia - Dunno about its accuracy The group's second album, Family Portrait (complete with a montage of Burke family photos), was recorded and produced in Chicago by Clarence Jr. With the addition of their three-year-old brother, the group became The Five Stairsteps & Cubie. The impressions did a version of We Must Be In Love which is another brill 5 Stairsteps tune. I also really like Don't Waste Your Time by them. Oh - Beat Me to it Boba
  19. Here it is on colour. https://youtu.be/sb_eVMpJUwo
  20. Exactly - there's also colour film of this gig! It's put me even more in the mood for the 100 Club tonight.

  22. How can you tell a drummer's at the door? The knocking speeds up. Seriously though, some excellent drumming in the above clips. The geezer in the 4th clip is replicating Jack Ashford's technique pretty good - had the pleasure of seeing Jack Ashford performing live and his tambo' playing is the nuts!
  23. For me it would be Earl Van Dyke, maybe Jack Ashford or perhaps any of the Funk Brothers. Brilliant musicians who were instrumental in producing most of my favourite soul music. ATB Mike
  24. Hi Godz Assume your going to the 100 Club. The Blue Posts PH is the pre 100 club watering hole which is at the corner of Eastcastle Street/ Newman Street. I like the Dog & Duck in Frith Street which serves good real Ales. For used soul vinyl, there are a couple of shops on Hanway Street which is at the Tottenham Court Road end of Oxford Street. Otherwise, Exotica or Rough Trade on Portobello Road and there is also a great Market there too. I would recommend The Golden Hind Fish & Chip Restaurant in Marylebone Lane, W1. It's unpretentious, inexpensive and you can also take your own bottle of wine or beer in there too. You may need to book Whatever you do, hope you have a great time. ATB Mike
  25. Also really like " What Have I Done To Make You Mad "
