  1. Apologies - failed to read thread properly.
  2. Think you can download. Click on the arrow below " info " towards the right of the soundcloud clip. That brings up an option to download and save an Mp3 which is what I'm doing right now, I think - edit - listening to the download now - sounds good!
  3. Hi Godz - thought you'd be a fan of this band - good taste! Only seen them live on telly/you tube and yes they are a bit shambolic but I love their albums. There's a couple more "northern" samples on their first album one of which I can't identify now but recognised it from a You Tube clip posted on here last year - the other is a passage from I Cant Rest - Fontella Bass - cant remember which track of theirs its on. They also sample Politicians -Psyche Soulla Funkadelic on Grip Like A Vice ( Proof of Youth album ) Best wishes Mike
  4. I don't like slow records at all nighters - they just kill it for me and I'm left shuffling about waiting for something to come on to dance properly to - particularly dislike dj's ending their sets with a slowie - that's the priviledge of the last jock to play an "ender". Just my personal point of view though. Mike
  5. Hope this link works but it is a good site for all things Northern Soul from Norwich and includes photos of most of the Norwich faces from the 7t's https://www.facebook.com/groups/norwichnorthernsoulandmotownfanclub/
  6. Really interesting article. As a musician I love reading stuff about studios and recording. Below is a picture of the Wolf Box and some text to supplement your superb article - Thanks for posting:- Ed designed an ingenious device that allowed Jamerson, Coffey, Babbitt, all the great studio musicians to PLUG-IN directly and reap the sonic benefits of full range recording. The Motown producers were so impressed with the quality of his device, they affectionately dubbed Ed's invention The Wolfie Box.
  7. Hi Steve I think what you're viewing now are the scans which I uploaded when the record arrived. Previously, I posted the scan which was on the ebay sale, which for some reason was reproduced in minature on here. Hope that make sense! ATB Mike
  8. Side 1 is OK - Side 2 is filler
  9. Not booted according to JM's guide.
  10. This is on Soul Sam's March podcast on here - just picked this up from an ebay seller in Oz - Ray Charles - Tired Of My Tears - Unfortunately ebay scan seems to reproduce in minature. Will re-scan it when the record arrives!
  11. Don't think this hasn't been posted before. Great Philly tune I think. https://youtu.be/l-2dMRkEjG0
  12. I know what you mean. The synth chords voicing and little fills/figures aint particularly inspiring but the rest is good I think (nice guitar bit at the end ) and of course the vocals and melody are top notch.
  13. You might be disappointed judging from this quote "Bobby seemed to relish the opportunity to make something modern and original, and embraced and encouraged the use of unusual sounds and techniques," Richard Russell said. "It was hard to believe how free of ego he was, and how open to new ideas"
  14. I like it. Produced by Damon Albarn and recorded in his studio in London I think?
  15. Dave Withers 1982 tracks... Originals - Suspicion aka Baby Have Mercy On Me (Prophets The above is copied and pasted from one of Chalky's Stafford Podcast tracklistings. I assumed it was played from an unissued acetate. I first heard it on the This Is Northern Soul Debutante CD which came out about 1999/00.
  16. I take it you mean singing/rapping during Thommasino Walker and other voice/ sound overs towards the end notably during The Appointments? A very enjoyable podcast. He was very good at Soul Syndicate in Kensall Rise last Friday night too!

The guys look like members of a band! Agree, these are great pics which I've very much enjoyed looking at. Thanks for posting them.
  18. Listen to mine on a Maplin USB turntable through my laptop! Can play a few that way without getting off me arse! Have got a conventional deck wired up through a midi system but too much hassle plugging everything in!
  19. Oops , just seen that this clip was posted earlier last year by Derek Pearson in All Our Yesterdays - I obviously missed it- note to self - search before posting!
  20. Often good stuff going on my You Tube Channel - originals too eg Black Bombers - Speed & Intensity.
  21. Hope so - you might also like the Jnr Walker & The All Stars clip from the Ram Jam Club, Brixton 1966 which I stuck up on here recently.
  22. Yeah it's great isn't it - wonder if there's any similar footage of the Wheel or other 60's clubs?
  23. Bowie's rhythm section post the Spiders from Mars was pretty funky - Dennis Davis drums, George Murray bass and Carlos Alomar guitar.
  24. No room for backdrops by the look of it!
