  1. Great records there Rob - we had a terrific night and I came home with some money in me pocket too! Looking forward to the next one. Mike
  2. Couldn't resist posting the other clip from Soul Train - great performance by Wilson and the band and includes possibly the earliest footage of robotic dancing? [media=]
  3. I've often wondered about the provenance/history behind this record - I found several in a shop in Benidorm whilst on holiday there in about 1981. I bought 2 - gave one to a mate and still have the other. Thanks for the info.
  4. I love this live version of I'm in Love from Soul Train (1972 ) - particularly the bit where he sings "That sounds alright boys - do it again " at 2.14 - He appears genuinely surprised at how good the horn section sounds that this is his response - brilliant! [media=]
  5. Monkey Talk - great bluesy track IMO and a brilliant showcase for his harmonica playing.
  6. The sax break in Something About You - 4 Tops is one of me favourites. Is it Mike Terry? It sounds totally un-hinged - Love it!
  7. Agree your mate's drums sound terrific - talented skins man too by the sound of things. They're not bad tunes and if I had anything to do with them I'd be very proud. Ian,are you familiar with Big Boss Man & The Bongolian? I think you'd really like them. The guy behind both outfits is Nasser ? ( forgotten his surname ) but he has the vintage sound totally nailed too IMO! ATB Mike
  8. When I saw this thread yesterday I though I recognised the seller's name and checked my watch list and sure enough had a few bids on with his stuff. Looks like i've been sniped on the Silky Hargraves ( $20 or thereabouts) - Oh well maybe more luck with some of the others but I'm not saying which one's yet.
  9. The 2 second hand vinyl record shops on Hanway Street, W1 ( runs between Oxford Street and Tottenhm Ct Road ) still carry decent stock and if you do go to Record & Tape Exchange Notting Hill Gate (100 yards from the underground station - Cenral Line ), might as well walk the short (ish) distance to Portobello Road to check out Intoxica & Rough Trade ( both good shops IMO ). Think the replies above just about cover all angles.
  10. Here's another for the freakbeat fans https://youtu.be/qsax5Df24eM
  11. Surfing Spotify and came across Marie Rottrova oddly via Denn Penn & Spooner Oldham! - You Tube search resulted in this clip. She was apparently dubbed the Czech queen of soul in the 6t's. Wasn't all about pig iron production and 5 year plans behind the iron curtain - well not for this comrade! https://youtu.be/hEZyNlf-LJw
  12. Hi Chalky PM'd ya an expanded copy of this found on google image search - dunno if it's what you're looking for. ATB Mike
  13. Hi Might find something here :- www.timeout.com/london/feature/1004/londons-best-record-shop

  15. I think the Kids in this shot look cool ( off to Blackpool 1971 ) No flares but shoulder length hair! - it's a great look IMO - .
  16. Hi Jason Not bad at all - my daughter wouldn't approve of the video though! ATB Mike
  17. Nice one Chalky - listening to first one now and sounding great! ATB Mke
  18. Keep Looking - loved it from when I first heard the This is Soul Compilation. The ordained minister's got soul!
  19. Click on "Listen on Soundcloud.com"
  20. Had a quick listen and they sound great - Look forward to listening fully over the weekend. Hopefully this is the start of more live all nighter podcasts on here. Well done and thanks for posting them! ATB Mike
  21. I'd like to hear it too. I have software to add EQ, Compression etc to enhance soundfiles and if you think it would add to your podcast, I would be happy to fiddle about with it if you send me a MP3.
