  1. I used to collect motown when I was going to all nighters in the 70's - wished I'd bought more of it at the time as you used to see R&W demo's aplenty for under £10. Was happy to come back from Wigan and a Cleethorpes all dayer Aug bank holiday 77 with Jnr Walker EP, I know (I'm Losing You) -Temps and Chairmen Of the Board - Give Me Just A Little More Time - Still have them.
  2. Just bought one - nice and cheap - thanks for the tip!
  3. Is it Frank Hutson - Old Man Me? Had a listen to Archie Hodge - I Really Want to See you Girl and there's a similarity to the intro.
  4. Hi Gogger Agree it's a great thread - as has been said its been educational and we've heard so many brill records that we probably wouldn't otherwise have done. Didn't this all start off though as your " recommended record of the day from your collecton"? Idea was to post a label scan but I think I may started adding a you tube clip to the thread - Major Lance performing Since I Lost My Baby's Love on Soul Train. You can blame me for slowing down our search engines or does that only happen on my knackered old laptop? ATB Mike
  5. Apologies if this has been posted before:- Tammi Terrell - I Can't Believe You Love Me. The song writing and production on this is stunning I think. Did Johnny Bristol and Harvey Fuqua write a bad track when they were at Motown?
  6. Terrific podcast again Chalky - Thanks to you and John.
  7. https://youtu.be/Mkn5LyOEVds https://youtu.be/78yEG9udZHE
  8. Jimmy Ruffin - Since I Lost You & I Want Your Love. Sounds like it was recorded at same time as He Who Picks A Rose - couldn't have been could it?
  9. I love this record - that's another off the list to identify.
  10. Not done that at 6am bl**dy hard to navigate narrow boats I found!
  11. Superb stuff Rob. Sorry didn't make it down to 99p soul on Saturday but Denise and I went out with Andy Hackett and Susan the night before and ... well let just say I was feeling a little under the weather the next day!
  12. Wow! Just spent a very enjoyable several hours listening to those live tapes. Next best thing to actually being there. Thanks for posting them Chalky - they're superb! Mike
  13. Willie Mitchell - Secret Home Old but gold
  14. I'd never heard of him before, just came across it on the Better Producer website. There's a clip of a short interview on there where he says he's played on 4000 recordings mostly done at he Brill Bldg. Hearing his hi hat fills I wondered if it's him on the United Sounds record? He's well cool in the clip above - " always rockin always grooving " I know how he feels! absolutely fantastic drummer!
  15. This is an absolutely charming vid by a great drummer and if your feet aint tapping by the end, you're beyond help LOL! https://youtu.be/WGXGpa458Ig
  16. Y'Know - I think I agree - makes me smile listening to it! I'm gonna upload his Secret Home over the weekend - another superb instrumental.
  17. Flip of the Willie Mitchell I posted yesterday - Sugar T - 12 bar blues genius -
  18. Also, have to be wary, at that price, where seller doesn't vouch for it being an original and states:- ALL RECORDS ARE ORIGINAL PRESSINGS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED
  19. Willie Mitchell - Bad Eye Just got this as I'm getting into a bit of R&B and I like the track - will post up the flip which is also good and another Willie Mitchell 45 which I got recently.
  20. More Sam Dees - Can You Be A One Man Woman - flip of Put You Back In Your Place - arrived today, fortunately in one piece, from Phoenix despite the odd packaging!
