  1. Have you got an iPhone? If you want to upload scratchy 45's like I do mostly, recording the video/audio on an iPhone works. You are then prompted to upload the clip to You Tube - press the You Tube icon and it's job done!
  2. oh yeah - sorry - I overlooked it by the time I got around to watching the Elgins video which I really enjoyed btw - nice one!
  3. Brilliant video . There is another complete episode of Swinging Time on YouTube featuring The Supremes and The Marvelettes with an appearance from Berry Gordy which is also worth a look.
  4. LA Times video clip of an interview with Rick Hall and Film Director Greg Camalier.
  5. The breakdown in Give Me Just A Little More Time - Chairmen of TB is special. A touch of HDH genius to mix that bass section in mono and then full on stereo for the outro. And not forgetting General's Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! The intro to Reach Out 4 Tops is another bit of HDH genius. WTF is that intro melody played on? And the percussion bit too?
  6. Wow - just seen this fantastic film. If you get the chance to see it, watch it as you will not be disappointed. Right off to 99p Soul.
  7. I was out with Andy Hackett last night and he mentioned George Jones had sadly passed away. BTW Andy mentioned he may come along tonight after the Dexy's gig. see you later.
  8. Ha ha Rob - we will be coming along to 99p soul after watching the film so will see you tomorrow night. All the best Mike
  9. I love this track which I posted on my You Tube Channel. it's had over 27,000 hits because the tune is evidently used in a KFC commercial in the US. It seems to generate several comments too - here's a selection. old school backyard bbq music! one of the chillest songs ever luvit We'll take two chicken pot pies smooooooooth Brings back a flood of memories from my teen year's, in the "South Bronx" N.Y. Big "Fro's, Bell-bottom pants", living the "Soul Train life" on the real, every day! That black guy in the "KFC" commercial. That was me, and every black man, and boy in America! We loved each other strongly as a people, were proud of our unique-ness,and we changed the world! This was the "soundtrack of our lives!" For those of us who remember those day's, this would be the "Back-yard BBQ" music, if ever I heard it! I know someone that's "playin' with feelings!" ( lol) Seems the commercial sent almost everyone here. My mom had this album when I was a kid and am VERY familiar with this song. Nostalgic. She loved these guys, War, Santana, Earth, Wind and Fire, Teddy Pendergras, Jerry Butler and a whole slew of others. Maybe some of the names I've named here will bring back memories or go find and listen to them yourself. Enjoy! I love, love, love this song.....This music makes you feel like you don't have a care in the world....Music back then was so free feeling. ....thanks to the commerical for bring it back! We jammed to this classic back in the day. And that commerrcial cracks me up. LOL. But I still can't figure out how 3 guys can sound like a choir. These brothers are just awesome!!!! Ah The Sound of Philadelphia ... nothing like it! Oh well, any excuse to share this track
  10. Looks good - just bought tickets. Not been to the O2 yet so looking forward to it.
  11. Nice clip - I love those 7t's soul train vids - have posted 1 or 2 on here myself
  12. Good read. Some themes don't seem to change - played out oldies/promoters friends/relatives djing.
  13. Miracles - Whatever Makes You Happy - Brilliant feel good vocal by Smokey, I think. Temptations - Running Away ( Ain't Gonna Help You ) I love the guitar playing on it - the whole thing really!
  14. Enjoyed your video - good sound quality too. Different sax player to the 100 Club gig. He's a great artist and I would like to see him perform again sometime. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Went up to Norwich on Good Friday ( visiting family ) and went to the Backstreet Soul Club on Friday night. Guest DJ's were Carl Fortnum and Col Wolfe. Bumped into a couple of old mates so it was a blinding night. Was talking to them in the bar so missed a big chunk of Carl's set but could hear him stick on Eddie Parker - I'm Gone and the Tomangoe's. This was a 2 room event and very well attended with many youngsters through the door . Billy Whizz's brother Mick was also dj'ing as was Frank Webster another excellent Norwich DJ ( will be good when he's back on at the 100 Club ) Backstreet is promoted by Mark Chamberlain ( Professor Turnups on here ) who does a fantastic job attracting some of the UK's best DJ's up to Norwich and it's their 30th Anniversary this year. Was going to go to Crossfire last night but when we got back to London I couldn't tell from the flyer if you could pay on the door and it was too late to book online. Blew it out and watched a superb Nile Rogers documentary on BBC 4.
  16. Has anyone mentioned Emanons Orchestra - Birdwalking? Not too keen on it personally but been spun at the 100 Club last couple of months . Hadn't heard it in about 35 years.
  17. Expect this was a good gig https://www.facebook.com/events/310389272417691/
  18. I was listening to a collection of Motown singles on Spotify and came across loads of great tracks which i'd not heard before, well many of them. I thought several of them would make a great compilation. I believe all these tunes were issued as 45's in the USA on Motown related labels between about 62 - 72. There is a real mixture here but I think they are all quality tunes. Hope you enjoy listening to them. BTW I think The Temptations track is brilliant - flip of I Can't Get Next To You. 1 Miracles - Whatever Makes You Happy 2 Carolyn Crawford - I'll Come Running 3 Stevie Wonder - This Little Girl 4 The Spinners - How Can I 5 The Marvelettes - A Need For Love 6 Tammi Terrell - Come On And See Me 7 Monk Montgomery - Your Love 8 Shorty Long - Your Love Is Amazing 9 Contours - Your Love Grows More Precious 10 Chuck Jackson - Are You Lonely For Me Baby 11 Temptations - Running Away ( Aint Gonna Help You ) 12 Martha Reeves & The Vandellas - Heartless 13 Shorty Long - Don't Mess With My Weekend 14 Arthur Adams - Can't Wait To See You 15 Ivy Jo Hunter - I Can Feel The Pain 16 Four Tops - In These Changing Times 17 Blinky - How You Gonna keep It Ater You get It 18 Eddie Kendricks - If You Let Me
  19. Agree, some great value to be had on Motown. Just bought Stevie Wonder Yester Me Yester etc and Never had A Dream Come True ( USA issues ) from UK sellers for a few £'s as both have great B sides. Also, recently bought Eddie Kendricks'- If You Let Me, If Anyone Can & Can't Help What i Am which are all quality IMO and again all for a few quid. With the hike in USA postage charges, can see myself buying many more like this.
  20. Thought of a few more Terry Reid -The Hand Don't Fit The Glove James Galt - Comes The Dawn Terry Anton - Leave A little Love Shotgun Express - I could Feel The Whole World Turn Round The Action - Baby you've Got It
  21. Geno Washington - I've been Hurt By Love ( Piccadilly ) Cracking number and quintessentially 60's swinging London It's on my You Tube channel if you wanna hear it - link below
  22. The first You Tube video in this thread is the one I put together for my You Tube channel. It's had over 3,000 hits so Ritchie Havens seems to be a popular You Tube search. I can't really get along with the rest of the Mixed Bag album despite perservering with it and being a folk fan ( Dylan, Nick Drake et al ). I think Ritchie's version of ICMIAM sounds great at an all nighter and its sparkling production and use of a string quartet, make it a total winner. Another Gordon Lightfoot song which I think makes a great " cover " is Early Morning Rain. I've heard nice versions by both Weller and Elvis.
  23. Nice set. Good requests too!
  24. I bought a Darrow Fletcher 45 off this seller recently which he posted without any stiffeners in the mailer. Of course it arrived with a crack but to be fair, he did refund promptly without any quibble and refunded postage.
  25. Fantastic tape - Thanks for sharing.
